What they showed us on a different demonstration with different adhesive was a good demonstration but I was hoping they would show us the echo 985 mapei.

Will these work directly on flat concrete or is there some type of subfloor prep required?

Hello, great question. Yes most of these will work direct to concrete, almost all actually. In most cases the only time a primer is needed is if the surface is oily or has foreign chemicals that may stop the adhesion.

I want to lay reclaimed 5 finger parquet on concrete. Is there an adhesive that is better for the concrete?

Hello, thanks for that video - i have one question : you talked about Soudal SMX-30P and you said it is provides a moister barrier together i called to the company they said it is not moister barrier also in their website there is no moister barrier function in the Soudal SMX-30P how did you came up with this info ?
I'm asking cuz I'm looking for all in one adhesive, do know one that has this function ?
    thanks

Hello, thank you for the reply. Whilst the SMX-30P is not an actual moisture barrier, you will find within its specifications that it can tolerate a much higher sub-floor moisture content than other adhesives. If someone has a project that has higher moisture and requires a proper moisture barrier, it would be recommended to use a independent moisture barrier and then use an adhesive like this one for some added protection. In a case where someone used smx-30p to assist with removing moisture issues it is simply there to help give them a better option, but again if there are moisture issues on site, a proper moisture barrier is still recommended. Does that help clarify it a bit more?

Not in Australia but thank you so much for this comparison. I was using another brand from Germany and the solvents made me want to vomit. Hopefully one of these solvent free brands will be better!

@@MarquesFlooring Thanks. I'm going to go with the Mapie P990. We've been gluing these 100 year old parquet in an old villa in Prague. Really looks amazing when it's all sanded and finished.

You cannot rate an adhesive for its smell or easy handling, the most relevant points are the adhesion capacity of the wood thickness, resistance to humidity and the type of substrates, if they are elastomeric and other guarantee factors.

Thanks for the comment. Yes this is true, but only for some trades. We have found that for some trades, once they find adhesives that suits in regards to strength etc they then tend to consider smell or trowel-ability. Some customers actually choose smell and use over strength! With this video the viewers can choose based on what is most important to them. Provided the adhesive they choose is suitable to begin with.
