In Yugioh GX: “Send him to the stars!” Meanwhile, in Spongebob: “WE KILLED A HEALTH INSPECTOR!!! BURIED HIM AND THEN STUFFED HIS BODY IN THE FREEZERRRRRR!!!!”
To be fair with the Ra cards, Marik DID say that he made a TON of counterfeits, so maybe this kid bought a couple from some shady dude in an alley thinking they were cool
@@Jaquan018 well that may be true I'd like to think that the Egyptian gods know when a wielder of one of their counterfeit cards is playing their cards with malicious intent or not. And they let the kids just get by because their kids.
Man, the ending to GX was sad, I personally believe out of all the yugioh characters his was the saddest and incomplete. Sure in Bonds Beyond Time we see Jaden doing okay and happy but we still technically don't know what he's doing with himself besides traveling the world, well I guess it fits his narrative a 'Traveling Hero'. But he never had proper closure, I believe if GX had gotten one more season to fully complete Jaden it would've been better, he never got the ending he deserved. It sucks that Jaden never got a proper ending in English as well, it ended even worse in the American dub because the last episode was too much of a cliffhanger. GX gets so much shit from western audiences and half of that comes from the fact it never got a proper English ending and the other half being the awful dialogue 4Kids thought up in the board room. Season 4 was incredible as it showed how far Jaden had come, he became a cold and dark person who didn't care to have fun dueling anymore and treated it extremely seriously. GX in general gets so much shit even though it's actually really good because how far every character in the show ended up going, Chazz was always a selfish asshole who cared too much about his blue jacket and powerful dragon cards till after multiple defeats he cast that attitude aside and got cards that he at first considered weak but found out he shouldn't judge a book by its cover, Crowler the teacher hated Jaden and the lower ranking students and always tried to find new ways to kick him out but he actually ends up showing that he cares for his students and Jaden especially in the second half of season 3 where he was very worried about Jadens mental health after the Supreme King Fiasco, Cyrus started off extremely weak and seen as not good enough to even be the younger brother to Zane but he ends up proving all that wrong and ends up actually legit promoting himself through only hard work to Oblesik Blue. Man GX was good it just had such a slow start and season 1 honestly was too long, if season 1 was a lot shorter we may have gotten a season 5 to give an actual proper ending to Jaden.
Volt65 Let's not forget the episode in Season 4 when Growler didn't want his students to graduate because he cared for them too much for them to leave his side. That episode really brought a tear to my eye.
the English dub ending for duel monsters will always be the saddest to me. still to this day I have to build up huge amounts of courage to watch when the pharaoh goes through that door.
My issue with this dub isn't a matter of quality most of the regular cast members did a good job acting. The problem lies in the editing, it was inconsistent strange and more often than not done for a bad joke. I will however say that I prefer how Zane/ Ryos heart condition was handled in the dub over the original. The fact that they don't outright say it and instead let the actions of the characters show how serious Zane's health is kind of adds an extra layer of nuance. It's obvious what is happening to everyone, but his pride and desire to go out in a blaze of glory makes him refuse help or talk about his heart. Nobody comes out and says it out of respect for this guy who has always seemed larger than life, and they all leave his final duel inspired
In the dub they were pretty explicit. "It's no use Crowler, my heart is weak......I guess all those underground duels have finally caught up with me" He does talk about it but he really accepts it. The biggest difference though and one that he strangely doesn't mention is Jubel's voice. In the sub Jubel is dark and ominous and mostly serious. While in the dub her voice is high pitched and childlike, not just in tone but she also talks like a child. I felt that innocent voice very creepy.
@@MrMarinus18 weirdly enough in season 4 they kind of retcon it so that Zane's heart condition wasn't caused by the underground duels but rather by that underworld deck he was using due to it being cursed or something.
@@jadedheartsz Yeah, I really didn't like that. I would have liked if it had stayed purely metaphorical. I really like the episode itself but I think you could have had it with Zane still gone. That he is trying to honor the memory of his great brother while avoiding the pitfalls that he did. I really like Zane's arc of the good hearted but firm golden boy. That when exposed to the harshness of the world lost himself and burned himself out only to realize too late what was important. It's a powerful message.
I started watching gx in sub because I was getting to inpatient with wating for the dubs on TH-cam and it changed everthing for me, now i watch everything in japanese first before i watch something in the dub and in most cases I like the sub better.
Kurosu The music I've been trying to find from the original is what plays when Auska/Alexis discovers her brother is still alive and she's crying as she's talking to Ryu/Zane as the sun is rising behind them.
If they don't kill you before the mummification that would way worse then just being burried allive. I mean they would pull your brain out of your skull through your nose with a hot needle, rip some other parts out of your body, poisen you to conservate you, ...
Quite frankly, I don't think GX was the worst dub we got. Mort changed? Sure. But worst? No. That honor goes to Zexal, Yuya's grating, nasally voice and its inability to keep a serious tone for more than 5 minutes. And for those who want to refute me, my argument is this; would you rather listen to Jaden and his occasional cringy line, or Yuya, with his mutitude of cringy lines spoken in his voice.
Yuya is my least favorite as those entertainment duels were really annoying. But also I felt he was very judgmental and wouldn't accept anyone who had a different mentality than he had. Other protagonists also had that but not to the same extent. Jaden did take offense easily by bad duel mentalities but he just gave gentle advice. Yuma was a bit more forceful but he was a lot more flexible than Yuya was. He believes duels are for making friends but he had no problem befriending the Arclight brothers who viewed dueling as a duty and a way to protect each other. With Yuya it really felt like it was his way or the high way.
@@MrMarinus18 honestly I really liked the concept of those entertainment duels but the characters sucked. I thought that since the show was talking about magicians and entertainment and tricks it would somehow end up as Kaito KID (a cool main character who wants to make a crowd laugh with his tricks even when the situation is tough) but instead we got... yugioh arc-v. Disappointing. Also tho I liked Yuto, we all know his other 3 selves were just a cheap way to replicate Yami and Yugi's friendships! And if Zarc can get four bodies couldn't Atem get one too???
@@ines1084 It was obnoxious but my main issue was how judgemental he constantly was of everyone around him. Also another thing I didn't like was how evil sector security was in the synchro dimension. In 5Ds while sector security was the antagonist they did a pretty good job keeping the morality grey.
I also got really confused by Alexis' attitude towards Crowler during his duel. Especially given how Crowler was said to be a really great duelist in episode 1 and Jaden beating Crowler was made to be a really big deal for the majority of early GX Season 1 where suddenly everybody wanted to duel him and viewed him differently than other Slifers just because he beat Crowler. Not only that scene was OOC for Alexis, who is really respectful towards superiors, especially teachers, but also it was massively inconsistent with the dub's own continuity!
@yugioh everything did you honestly not see the insane "hermaphrodite" speech they gave yubel which made her a disturbing sight? The dub may have been edited to be a kids show but at least it had its good side, you guys being picky that it didnt have the japanese story is insane considering that the "censorship codes" are insanely different in each country and that it wouldve been publicly ostracized if a full on "season 1-4" original storyline was publically aired.
Judai's changes helped me a lot during my adolescence and he is still an inspiration in my adult life. Seeing him relearn to love dueling after being depressed in season 4 was amazing. To bad it was never dubbed.
I actually thought the change to Edo's father was a pretty smart one. He's not dead in the sub either, still intact and tortured as a part of Bloo-D. The fact that the dub leads up to that directly was pretty good.
Although, you forgot something about Yubel's original human form, which was male BEFORE being transformed into a FEMALE Dragon-type Duel Monster....mind you, this was in the Dub and not the Sub...
I'm really surprised Mr. Huffington wasn't covered. In the sub, he used a sake (rice wine) "Drunken" deck. The dub changed it to a "Dizzy" deck and was hot sauce-themed. Great video, though.
You didn't mention one of the biggest changes that I felt and that was Yubel's dialogue. In the original her voice is fairly deep and dark while in the dub it is high pitched and innocent. I actually found Yubel creepier in the dub version. That innocent yet utterly merciless high pitched girl voice was unnerving talking how she is playing and having fun with people's lives.
If I remember correctly, even in the dub, uniting the dimensions would wipe out everyone because Yubel said "Create a completely new world JUST for the two of us"
I don't know why people would lose their minds over you using the Japanese. The GX plots for the dub and original were so different, so when referring to the story or their altered personalities, it only makes sense to use the different names respectively. And you watched the anime, so you're more likely to reference to those? Either way, keep on living man.
I honestly have no problems with these name changes from dub to sub, mostly during the 2nd series anime to 5ds. But when they change the names of characters just to reflect the archtype deck the character the uses, thats just stupid and I'm putting my foot down.
What's dumb about that who name thing is that they forget one thing. Say he liked the dub but watched more and enjoyed the sub more than the dub? He is going to call them by their original japanese names. And to those who have a problem with him using the original Japanese names? First, calm down. Second, if your having an issue knowing who he's talking about, look it up you have the internet.
Yea that comment Alexis made about Crowler rubbed me the wrong way. Especially since amateurs in the anime are portrayed as people who can barely normal summon.
I'm 22 right now, and sometime I will ABSOLUTELY watch all 3 seasons of GX dubbed, and the full subbed. Because while the sun will be more of a "definitive" Yu-Gi-Oh experience, the dubs while making questionable decisions, do have charming moments sometimes. Like that one time Jaden is following Chazz close behind in the forest, and Jaden is having the time of his life singing the GX theme song. I LOVE THAT.
I can't remember when, but I remember hearing a while ago that 4K remove English because they dub in multiple languages and outright removing text is cheaper and faster than localising all the text for the other versions.
I think they did mention that Zane's heart was fatal. Chrono / Crowler said that Zane was in extremely bad shape to the point that it had even stopped completely once. And Zane kept going on how his duel with Jesse would be his last duel so he would enjoy every move played. This was one of the only times where it was being made clear that he would die It was the reasoning for his heart condition that was changed. In the Japanese version it was the cyber dark deck causing it, while in the english dub it was prolonged exposure to the underground duels and the electrical shock system he liked to use to cause pain on himself and others
Zane also said his heart is gonna give. Jesse with the constant heart attack and heart stopping comments. Zane saying he’s done for either way so he chose to go out his way. I feel like that was pretty clear enough. That’s just me though.
I thinn they mentioned the real cause for his heart problems, thats cause whoever weild the cyberdark deck will get that side effect, tho sho was able to overcome this by respecting the deck instead
personally, i liked her more in the dub. she interprets being launched into space as an act of betrayal and wants revenge. the jp version made her a little TOO creepy (my childhood self would NOT have been ready for sub yubel)
When Zane died in the dub, he said something to Jaiden like "beat the darkness" or some shit and then turns to Shy and tells him that he loves him but in the original he literally forgets the existence of his brother with last words being " Judai you need to grow up" then deep into the stars.
It's a shame that Yu-Gi-Oh GX never had a season 4 in English Dub, I mean this show was a masterpiece for anime lovers in America and Canada, Why they don't understand true action, adventure, and true art in the show anymore
there were more than that originally: the rare hunters were using Counterfeit copies of The Winged Dragon of Ra, each of them who did were promptly killed by lightning sent by good-old Ultra-Mega Chicken
Ghawk I wouldn't even mind minor name changes. I think Jaden from Judai, and Joey from Jonouichi are fine but giving them thick southern accents is another matter entirely...
back off 4kids let funamation do the dubbing for vrains, you already ruined zexal and arc v so don't try and ruin this one too, that little sneak peek of the funamation dub for zexal was so much better than what 4kids deliverd.
Yukina Ushwa It happened because Yubel was a yandere to the t and killed anyone Jaden played with, because she wanted to be the only one who played with him. But yes its because Kaiba wanted to teach aliens how to play card games
In the original, Kaiba wanted to create a new set of cards created by the innocent hearts of children, and imbue them with the life nurturing gentle darkness to make them allies of justice. Kaiba was then asked by Judai and his parents to do the same to Yubel after her yandere tendencies, but was accidentally imbued with the light of destruction, which made her a lot worse.
Well in season 3 Yubel wanted revenge on Jaden for discarding her into space But I'm not sure the cosmic waves in space made Yubel evil or it was her own natural desire Use the data from the Dub Version of GX not from the Japanese Version
I think that "Washing backs to bond" thing is actually a legit Japanese Practice and social bonding thing. I mean think about it: You are pretty vulnerable to attack when you back is turned and you are naked. So trusting a guy to wash your back and not stab you would defiantly say "Hey man, we cool." (I could be totally wrong about everything I just said, so if someone wants to call me out on it. Go for it.)
I noticed the Winged Dragon of Ra copies on #5 when I first watched that episode. I also found it interesting that in the episode, the boy had his Jerry Beans Man stolen from him, yet in one of the shots you can see the card on the ground; while it's possible he could have multiple copies of that card, it doesn't make sense for him to in the narrative. In regards to Cronos/Crawler, I did notice that the dub seemed to have a vendetta against the character, and wanted to make him as unlikable as possible. In the sub, he actually gets a lot of development and becomes someone who cares about his students.
NOTIFICATION SQUAD!!!!! honestly this might be my fave segment that you have done,I take it you have to rewatch each show to do this, XD. Still I would not mind an hour long video for this, in fact I would still watch it right away
There were 2 additional changes that weren't mentioned, both involving Professor Viper. 26. Viper's son Pierce (aka Rick) was literally hit by a truck in the sub, but instead died from an off screen illness in the dub. 27. In the sub, Yubel tricks Viper into thinking that his son never died, so he followed his "son..." right off of the 1000+ foot platform. In the dub, Yubel grabs his face and that's it, but it is heavily implied that Viper dies regardless. Just typing that makes me want to go back to Six Flags Magic Mountain.
In Dub Yubel straight up vaporized Viper by teleporting the entire Duel Arena to Duel Spirit dimension, I guess complete destruction is less cruel than making a man commit suicide like in the Sub
Buckle up kiddos... this comment is long. Let it be known from the start that I grew up watching DM and GX, but my excitement for the game peaked and was driven by GX. Jaden is my favorite protagonist, I love Duel Academy, the deck archetypes in GX are my favorite (Heroes, Cyber, Crystal Beast, and even the miscellaneous duelists we see once tend to be interesting). So because I have a lot of love and nostalgia for the GX dub over all others, feel free to site that bias. MY OPINION ON DUB VS SUB Season 4 Jaden is badass. All of the experiences and lessons he gained from the series compile into a more matured and strengthened character. I think in some aspects, Jaden carries season 4 by himself. So when the dub ends awkwardly at season 3, after all of the awful things Jaden and company went through, it seems like there shouldn't be a contest right? The Sub takes things more seriously. The dub being aimed at kids automatically gives it the extra task of making sure things are appropriate for their audience. Whether it's done well or not, that already takes it's toll to continuity. Character motives and personalities are so easy to change when you're taking out big pieces of information. And the awesome Openings... oh my god Teardrop and Precious Time are soooo good. That being said, I like the dub more. In my opinion, dub GX is the most enjoyable thing to ever come out of yugioh. *cue dramatic music* GX in 1 honestly encompasses everything I love about yugioh. It brings back memories of opening decks and packs, building something with your favorite cards, and just having a fun time. I honestly felt this way a lot more about GX than DM solely because of the tone of the show. DM was always super serious and things were creepy, life and death constantly. So even though the Sub has a more serious tone, that's actually less likable in my opinion. The dub soundtrack supports the upbeat mood as well. The voice acting in GX, for the most part, I enjoy a lot too (not a fan of chazz's or Alexis's voice changes midway through). There are so many little jokes here and there that weren't in the original but are GREAT! The writers had fun with it in english. I know it's hard to really drive this point home because between the Shadow Riders, Light of Destruction, Yubel and Nightshroud (come on it's way cooler sounding than darkness), every season of GX has some pretty dark themes. But the way the dub handles it, they shrug it off for the most part and are still cracking jokes and being light hearted. That can definitely have it's toll, but I think in this particular case it works well. It starts to backfire in season 3 though... that season is far too serious to even try to make it happy, and as a result the mood it had leading up to there is gone. I don't think a season 4 would have been enjoyable for the same reason, except the Yugi vs Jaden duel. Here's another example for Cardfight Vanguard fans: Ever think it was weird that Vanguard is pretty similar to GX? Both didn't get their 4th season dubbed and went straight to the next generation. I don't know about you, but I personally LOVED the beginning of vanguard. It was just a bunch of friends heading to the card shop after school and having fun! Then slowly it goes into a tournament arc and traveling around. This all feels a lot like GX season 1 and 2 in how they had the School Duel and Domino City adventure. But when Link Joker (Nightshroud) shows up and things start getting gloomy and serious... idk. I enjoy the opportunity to see characters grow, improve and show off more of their personality, but I think that a lighthearted show trying to be serious like that starts to have an identity crisis. So obviously, if you're looking for a more serious tone then you wanna watch subbed. But I love the energy the dub gives and just how plain fun and infectious it is. I'm not sure if I'm the only one who looks for that in card anime. Make me excited to play it in person, ya know? I get that high tension duels can get you hype too, everybody is different. And if I didn't make it clear, I am VERY well aware that the sub is still lighthearted and silly (that bath scene with the bear and seal is hilarious).
Lol it's not the top comment because most people hate GX's dub. I shared this thought process because I think it's a clear minority. The dub is very underappreciated. It's nice to see yugioh take itself a little less seriously for once.
Oh god... I cannot wrap my head around why those dubs are so awful, when kid anime in the 2000s had clearly improved from the 1990s. Shouldn't the 2010s also be improvements? Apparently not.
No wait I think it was two copies of Ra, and two copies of kings knight or something In one of the scenes you can see two copies of the cards flying out of his deck
Everytime he begins the video, and he says "Hello everyone, It's dylan from yugioh Everything." I cant stop thinking about the jaden vs yuki rap- where he begins it with "Whats up guys- it's Jaden, from GX" (or something like that).
The second I got the notification, I immediately watched it! Before I always thought that GX was the worst, but when I found out about season 4 and rewatched it subbed, it has become another incredible yugioh series in the book! Wish I could say the same about Zexal and Arc-V but Vrains seems to be very promising 17 episodes in
Honestly, they are all better subbed for me. They all have decent dubs though except for Zexal and Arc V, here's to hoping the Vrains one is at least 5D's and previous dubs decent >.
"Or Yuki" That dude does realize that's still Japanese, right? O.o I would say just ignore those people and leave them to their dub love and use which names you like. I only use the dub names when I want others to get which characters Im talking about, anyways.
Honestly not bothered by too many of these. I especially love the “Yugi went grocery shopping 3 years ago and never returned” bit. It shows that either Yugi was impulsive and ran off on another adventure or Solomon was senile and that was just the last time he remembered seeing Yugi. I love things like that that are left open to interpretation without affecting the story.
Frankly, I enjoyed all the corny and outright abridged style dubbing of GX. I watched it every day after high school! Rewatching it right now and just got to the GX tournament.
Actually with regards to number 5, Marik actually had forgery Winged Dragon of Ra cards made to test if the cards and their power were unique to the three authentic ones, and to test if people not linked to the gods could use em, as seen in one of the Battle City semi final match between Marik's Right hand man (sorry, dub or sub I can't remember his name) and Joey. I believe it was mentioned that quite a few fake Ras' were created and given to several of Marik's lackies to test his theories, so it's entirely possible one or two of these fakes could have escaped his organization's grasp. Highly unlikely yes, but not....completely out of the realms of possibility within the universe.
I wish someone else besides a kids network took full control of the Dub Yugioh, so that they don't have to censor everything and also mess up the storyline.
like the scene with Manjoume and Rei but there is a scene with Misawa that i liked when he goes streaking and as he staring at the sun his part of buttcheek is shown for a brief second which tells me that Misawa stays in shape.
Left the dub in the dust. Yeah, I agree. It was because of Yu-gi-oh GX and 5d's that I did the samething. Because I didn't think they would ever release another full english dub ever again.
Can you cover more about Judai’s past & Yubel? I feel like he was supposed to have another season where they visit his past more in depth like with Atem. I still have so many questions to this day.
Lol when I was 8 or 9 watching GX dub on TV Zane was always my fav character, I was really sad that he died at the end..... It took me 6 years to find out that season 4 was actually a thing and fidning out that Zane came back was both awesome and infuriating XD
As a child, when Season 3 ended i was like "so another YUGIOH's protagonist just went to the afterlife?" and thanks to google i found the OG show and never look back, probably it was better they didn't dub the 4th season.
I love the dubbed opening track, mainly for nostalgic reasons. I also love the Japanese opening tracks so I wouldn't really say I prefer one over the other but I definitely much prefer the original Japanese version of yugioh GX.
I considered yubel a hermaphrodite xD and i know this is a card game anime but i thought it was dumb to say the cyberdark monsters caused zane's heart problem when we all really know it was all those electro shock duels he had that really did it
What about Professor Viper's death? Wasn't that drastically different from the original? Also in that same episode, when Jaden activates Card Trooper's effect, he was suppose to send Necro Gardna to the graveyard, but for whatever reason it was changed to Ojama Yellow so that creates a massive plothole.
small note: kaiser's heart condition wasn't caused by the Cyberdarks, they were caused by the constant voltages sent through his body in his Duels of Darkness.
I believe that was either initially believed but then revealed to be the Cyberdarks in Season 4 or only explicitly stated in the dub...in which case, that would be a dub change I agree with because that honestly makes more sense to me
It wasn't the cyberdarks though, as revealed when Sho was able to use them with no problem. The problem was entirely the life-threatening voltage that he constantly pumped through his body in both underground tournaments and when he returned to academia.
You literally put this out as I started the GX dub. Thanks so much, I’m so glad someone put this out so I know what changes before season 4! I super lucked out!
7:13 I have a cousin who is on his schools swim team and after practice he does take his swim shirt off to let it dry just to go back in the water with it later. It's wired but I'm not one to judge. Not many people do that but their are a few people that do. Also no the English dub from GX is not the worst dub to date. Why? The voice were really hit and miss for me. Jaden/Judai fits really well. I enjoy Mathew Charles as Jaden. Cyrus/Sho was a bit annoying, Asuka/Alexis voices fit her. Chazz was ok. The Ojamas were annoying. In terms of the dub this would be number 3 for me in top 5 Yugioh dubs. Honestly to me some voice in Zexal and Arc V are a bit more annoying then GX in my opinion
For 13, considering what he was actually going for (to prepare Jaden/Juudai/whatever against the guy who wants the Sacred Beasts), I sorta felt him going more "selfish' was just a "I lied" ploy to get Jaden to fight him without holding any reservations.
5:00 in the pyramid of light movie after the duel with anubis, when anubis knocks all the cards out of yugis deck, you can see he had 2 copies of the winged dragon of ra in the cards flying around him
The reason the dub always removes all instances of text is that the edits aren't just for the English dub. Many other countries use the dubbed footage to dub the series in their own language. That's why the cards always have no text on them. And also, Zane doesn't die does he? He's in the 4th season.
the reason English text is removed is because 4 kids had the rights to dubs for multiple countries and it was more cost effective to just remove all text in one go and use that footage for all dubs as apposed to changing the text to multiple times for each version Digimon as well as early Pokémon did this as well. also the removal of death is done because it's a kids show and in the US you can't have people die in cartoons for kids it's not appropriate because you know kids can't know that death is a thing for some reason. Also the dub for bonds beyond time has added dialogue where Jaden tells Yusie that Parodox showed up at duel academy and was stealing peoples cards and he has been chasing him to get them back but Dr. Banner's reappearance as a ghost isn't explaned at all so
And worse, Sean Schemmel is the voice of Mad Dog in the dub. A guy, who can do muscular manly voices, does a parody of Mike Tyson’s voice with a high pitch to sound like a baby.
Great video man, really enjoyed how you picked out all those changes and mistakes. I watched the dubbed version of GX, and it was months before I learned there were more episodes (I thought they actually killed off Jaden). As for GX, I didn't like how the show wasted Daichi/Bastion's character, since he relied on actual strategy and calculations... as opposed to the rest of the cast who relied on the "heart of the cards." I also wondered why Amon/Adrian and Echo were never brought back to life like everyone else at the end of season 3. Also, I wanted to ask if you were going to make anymore "forgotten storyline" videos? Your video on Yugioh 5D answered many of my questions, especially about Yilaster and why I never saw that mysterious member again (I talked about it another post).
As for your end card question: Duel Monsters and GX are the two that I prefer the dub for (Probably Biased). 5D's Ive seen fully in sub and most in dub. I enjoy both equally. Skip Zexal. I've seen all of Arc V in Sub and hate the dub for it. Vrains' Sub is fine.
I say skip Arc V. They butched all of their original and legacy characters way worse than anything Zexal ever did. I also enjoy all of Zexal's music compared to Arc V's :D
I ain't gonna lie GX is my favorite out of the Yugioh series Also Yubel was originally a man or woman (don't remember which one) and reincarnated as the opposite sex that's why his/her card is both genders Though I prefer HER better xD Also am I the only one who shipped Jaiden/Judai and Alexis/Asuka? I mean Blair was cute but I don't see them together
LOL, no wonder I was lost in names when I watched season 4. Which is the BEST one. Jaden's whole personality took a 360 degree turn. It was very interesting to watch.
Judai:neos, do that ora ora thing Neos:judai, ya know, ı can speak more than "Ora" Judai:Do That Freakin' Ora Ora thing, you useless vanilla monster Neos:fine, draw, draw, draw, draw, draw (doro, monstah caado reference) Judai:yare yare daze (replacement for gotcha or get your game on)
I did exactly the same thing you did when you discovered that a whole season was not dubbed and I left the dub in the dust you're right it was a blessing in disguise

To be fair with the Ra cards, Marik DID say that he made a TON of counterfeits, so maybe this kid bought a couple from some shady dude in an alley thinking they were cool
I guess to play Devils advocate that could be an explanation! I still feel like its lazy editing on the part of the dub team
Yeah but weren't like all rare hunters that ever tried to summon such counterfeit Ra's zapped to death by real Ra?

Volt65 I loved GX! Sadly, 5Ds is to blame for why GX's dub was never finished!

I've watched GX in subbed after season 2, and to be honest, it changed the anime completely!
Nice! I went back and watched in full after S4
I started watching gx in sub because I was getting to inpatient with wating for the dubs on TH-cam and it changed everthing for me, now i watch everything in japanese first before i watch something in the dub and in most cases I like the sub better.
The soundtrack for one thing is so much better in the subbed version I think, shame they diden't release all of them
Kurosu The music I've been trying to find from the original is what plays when Auska/Alexis discovers her brother is still alive and she's crying as she's talking to Ryu/Zane as the sun is rising behind them.
Just the duel with the vampire lady alone was... wow... subbed. I do believe they censored it for the dub in some way but I forgot...
Yep getting buried alive is definitely worse than simply being killed to be eventually turned into a mummy
Agreed! Dub actually did something darker!? Wow..
I have kinda seen the Shadow Realm as worse than dying for a long time. Peace of death vs an eternity of torment? Gib death plz
If they don't kill you before the mummification that would way worse then just being burried allive. I mean they would pull your brain out of your skull through your nose with a hot needle, rip some other parts out of your body, poisen you to conservate you, ...
Fawkes thanx for reminding me the juicy details
Depends I think being mummified is worse for after death but buried alive is worse way to die why did they want to turn them into mummys?
Quite frankly, I don't think GX was the worst dub we got. Mort changed? Sure. But worst? No. That honor goes to Zexal, Yuya's grating, nasally voice and its inability to keep a serious tone for more than 5 minutes. And for those who want to refute me, my argument is this; would you rather listen to Jaden and his occasional cringy line, or Yuya, with his mutitude of cringy lines spoken in his voice.
Yuya is from arc-v. Zexal's protagonist is yuma.
@@MrMarinus18 yeah while i enjoyed Zexal overall, I feel like Yuya was way too much of a dick to Astral in the first few episodes for no real reason.
Judai's 'gotcha!' is so cute that I'm sad they changed it, when it was already in English :(
I mean sure but Get you’re game on and That’s Game is much more Iconic
I also got really confused by Alexis' attitude towards Crowler during his duel. Especially given how Crowler was said to be a really great duelist in episode 1 and Jaden beating Crowler was made to be a really big deal for the majority of early GX Season 1 where suddenly everybody wanted to duel him and viewed him differently than other Slifers just because he beat Crowler.
Not only that scene was OOC for Alexis, who is really respectful towards superiors, especially teachers, but also it was massively inconsistent with the dub's own continuity!
Exactly! I'm glad I wasnt the only other person who noticed that and was bothered by it!
Alexis was a bitch except to Jaden. Thats pretty much her character.
You taking about the dub version? Because character inconsistencies are apparent in the dub, according to Dylan.
And that's why she's my spirit animal.
When i was a kid i was sad that jaden had pretty much died was happy when i found out years later that there was more episode that werent dub
Me too! I found out an hour later that S4 existed, but for that whole hour i was stunned they killed him off xD
Yeah and it doesnt explain how he is alive for the dub of the Bonds Beyond Time movie, since it's supposed to be after GX ended lol
Would you say you were...Really Salty?

I actually thought the change to Edo's father was a pretty smart one. He's not dead in the sub either, still intact and tortured as a part of Bloo-D. The fact that the dub leads up to that directly was pretty good.
Thats true, I wouldve rather them just stick with death but I guess that change isnt as horrible as the other ones !

Agreed
So dub Yubel is kinda better cause she's portrayed as mentally broken sadist
If I remember correctly, even in the dub, uniting the dimensions would wipe out everyone because Yubel said "Create a completely new world JUST for the two of us"
I don't know why people would lose their minds over you using the Japanese. The GX plots for the dub and original were so different, so when referring to the story or their altered personalities, it only makes sense to use the different names respectively. And you watched the anime, so you're more likely to reference to those? Either way, keep on living man.
Death: exists

Everyone who is yelling about he saying the japanese names instead of the english pls just shut up because he can say whatever he wants
Thank you Akira xD
Personally I fail to see how it makes a difference. You know who he's talking about regardless of which name used, so where's the problem?
I honestly have no problems with these name changes from dub to sub, mostly during the 2nd series anime to 5ds. But when they change the names of characters just to reflect the archtype deck the character the uses, thats just stupid and I'm putting my foot down.
What's dumb about that who name thing is that they forget one thing. Say he liked the dub but watched more and enjoyed the sub more than the dub? He is going to call them by their original japanese names. And to those who have a problem with him using the original Japanese names? First, calm down. Second, if your having an issue knowing who he's talking about, look it up you have the internet.

I'm 22 right now, and sometime I will ABSOLUTELY watch all 3 seasons of GX dubbed, and the full subbed. I think they did mention that Zane's heart was fatal. Chrono / Crowler said that Zane was in extremely bad shape to the point that it had even stopped completely once. And Zane kept going on how his duel with Jesse would be his last duel so he would enjoy every move played. This was one of the only times where it was being made clear that he would die
It was the reasoning for his heart condition that was changed. In the Japanese version it was the cyber dark deck causing it, while in the english dub it was prolonged exposure to the underground duels and the electrical shock system he liked to use to cause pain on himself and others
Actually the electrical shocks were also the cause in the Japanese version. However this was retconned in season 4 which was never dubbed.

Yubel is not so bad, ya know after she fused with judai and regained her sanity, shame she faded into the background after season 3

Wait a minute....all this trouble in season 3 happened because Kaiba wants to shoot a deck in the space?

How about the English Dub Version of Gx explanations of the events of season 3
Please no explanation from the Japanese Version
Well in season 3 Yubel wanted revenge on Jaden for discarding her into space
But I'm not sure the cosmic waves in space made Yubel evil or it was her own natural desire
Use the data from the Dub Version of GX not from the Japanese Version
I think that "Washing backs to bond" thing is actually a legit Japanese Practice and social bonding thing. I mean think about it: You are pretty vulnerable to attack when you back is turned and you are naked. So trusting a guy to wash your back and not stab you would defiantly say "Hey man, we cool."
(I could be totally wrong about everything I just said, so if someone wants to call me out on it. Go for it.)
I think the voices in the dub are fine. Some better then others for sure! But the voices weren’t the problem it was the scrip.

Seriously, how likely are you to die from a collision with a vehicle in Japan?
Always thought that was some kind of mercy killing. Viper was miserable as any parent would be
In Dub Yubel straight up vaporized Viper by teleporting the entire Duel Arena to Duel Spirit dimension, I guess complete destruction is less cruel than making a man commit suicide like in the Sub
You missed one thing: In season 3 they removed a scene where Jaden/Judai visits his friends grave.
MY OPINION ON DUB VS SUB
Season 4 Jaden is badass.
*cue dramatic music*
GX in 1 honestly encompasses everything I love about yugioh.
Yeah and most people got annoyed by the dub opening theme lol
I didn't mind GX's dub, it's actually watchable for me unlike Zexal and Arc V's :D
Oh god... I cannot wrap my head around why those dubs are so awful, when kid anime in the 2000s had clearly improved from the 1990s. Shouldn't the 2010s also be improvements? Apparently not.

Honestly not bothered by too many of these. I especially love the “Yugi went grocery shopping 3 years ago and never returned” bit.
It shows that either Yugi was impulsive and ran off on another adventure or Solomon was senile and that was just the last time he remembered seeing Yugi. I love things like that that are left open to interpretation without affecting the story.
man watching this video reminded me why the end of arc-v was so familiar it was because it was the same feeling after the end of the GX dub
HAHAHAHAHAHA yes!!
Frankly, I enjoyed all the corny and outright abridged style dubbing of GX. I watched it every day after high school! Rewatching it right now and just got to the GX tournament.
"Worse dub" hmm well no. Jaden was pretty cool no matter what version of him you saw.
Agreed, Jaden was awesome!
Jaden's that kid from The Little House On The Prairie.
Jaden is a fun character who goes through more shift than he should ever have but it made him a better person in the end.
Well he's absolutely flawless
I wish season 4 got dubbed so we could hear everyone say "that's game" to Crowler after the rematch with Jaden
“GET YOUR GAME ON!”
I wish someone else besides a kids network took full control of the Dub Yugioh, so that they don't have to censor everything and also mess up the storyline.
Yeah, funimation would have been awesome
like the scene with Manjoume and Rei but there is a scene with Misawa that i liked when he goes streaking and as he staring at the sun his part of buttcheek is shown for a brief second which tells me that Misawa stays in shape.
HAHAHAHA wth, I didnt even know about that scene xD
Sigurbjörn S. K
Sigurbjörn S. Dueling is a serious work-out. Have you seen how ripped Yugi was in the 1st episode?
That scene killed me when I watched it! Pretty much, he just snapped, and it was hilarious.
I know
10:02 Chazz's waist is SNATCHED
As a child, when Season 3 ended i was like "so another YUGIOH's protagonist just went to the afterlife?"
and thanks to google i found the OG show and never look back, probably it was better they didn't dub the 4th season.
GX dub soundtrack is the best in the franchise and Jaden is the most relatable protagonist.
Daniel Maximoff I guess you haven't heard the awesome Japanese soundtrack.
I have but the dub is a lot better.
No offence, but the dub's OST isn't better by any means lol
Everyone is entitled to their personal opinion.
I love the dubbed opening track, mainly for nostalgic reasons. I also love the Japanese opening tracks so I wouldn't really say I prefer one over the other but I definitely much prefer the original Japanese version of yugioh GX.
BRO WHAT THE FUCK IS CHAZZ’S BODY SHAPE?! THIS DUDE IS A LITERAL RANCH DORITO!!!
Yeah, my Boi Yubel! They deserve more love!
The problem was entirely the life-threatening voltage that he constantly pumped through his body in both underground tournaments and when he returned to academia.
superanimeniac ur right
You didn't watch season 4 did you?....
the season I just directly referenced, involving Sho using the cyberdarks without any heart problems?
I really enjoyed the heel to face or antagonist to protagonist with crowler during the camula situation its probably my favorite part of the gx series
Hmm, maybe I should reconsider my deposition on that scene xD
For 13, considering what he was actually going for (to prepare Jaden/Juudai/whatever against the guy who wants the Sacred Beasts), I sorta felt him going more "selfish' was just a "I lied" ploy to get Jaden to fight him without holding any reservations.
Where's the infamous "let's change Alcohol to Hot Sauce" edit?
5:00 in the pyramid of light movie after the duel with anubis, when anubis knocks all the cards out of yugis deck, you can see he had 2 copies of the winged dragon of ra in the cards flying around him
At 1:21:09
Wasn't Dr collector absorbed by plasma? I thought he showed for a brief moment when he fought Alister.
Banner's reappearance as a ghost isn't explaned at all so
Also due to FCC regulations at the time
Or that early Season 2 episode when Zane duels in his first underground duel. They give his muscular opponent a very babyish voice in the dub.
In Aster's duel against Jaden, we see 5 of his cards from the GY it should show Phoenix Enforcer, but it shows VWXYZ Dragon Catapult Cannon.
My favorite part in the GX dub is
Mad Dog. A buff man with high pitched childish voice
Yeah the arc v dub is pretty rough xD
I say skip Arc V. They butched all of their original and legacy characters way worse than anything Zexal ever did. I also enjoy all of Zexal's music compared to Arc V's :D
Because I skipped Zexal, I wouldn't know anything about the soundtrack :(. Am going through GX dub as we speak though and it is pretty fun.
It's music is actually good and Kaito is a good character, actually. Eff Arc V's Kaito >.>
I ain't gonna lie
GX is my favorite out of the Yugioh series
Also Yubel was originally a man or woman (don't remember which one) and reincarnated as the opposite sex that's why his/her card is both genders
Though I prefer HER better xD
Also am I the only one who shipped Jaiden/Judai and Alexis/Asuka?
I mean Blair was cute but I don't see them together
For the shipping, definitely not. The wiki states that Yubel's human form was voiced by Marc Thompson, if that helps.
I completely shipped them in season 1 but from season 3 I shipped him and Jesse
@@jpbyrne246 Omae Wa Moi Shindeiru
LOL, no wonder I was lost in names when I watched season 4. Which is the BEST one. Jaden's whole personality took a 360 degree turn. It was very interesting to watch.
6:48 them giraffe necks though
Can you do a video explaining everything that happens in season four of Yu-Gi-Oh GX
3:15 huh...... Ii never realized that Jaden/Judai was doing a Jojo pose :P
HAHA I didnt either till you just pointed it out lol
Judai:neos, do that ora ora thing
Neos:judai, ya know, ı can speak more than "Ora"
Judai:Do That Freakin' Ora Ora thing, you useless vanilla monster
Neos:fine,
draw, draw, draw, draw, draw
(doro, monstah caado reference)
Judai:yare yare daze
(replacement for gotcha or get your game on)
Death: (exists)
4kids: *We don’t do that here*
Also zane when died, in the sub he didn't say "I'm proud of you Syrus and I will always be" but he actually spoke to Judai
I did exactly the same thing you did when you discovered that a whole season was not dubbed and I left the dub in the dust you're right it was a blessing in disguise
