- This engine kit is found on eBay for under $100 and is extremely fun for the money. With a simple chain upgrade it should be relatively reliable. I use 93 octane with 20 to 1 fuel oil ratio. Break in is 16 to 1 and regular air filter cleaning and roller chain lubrication is recommended.

Your fuel filter is upside down, look at the arrow, the rear sprocket is backwards, hence the chain issues you're having, the dished out side goes toward the hub, sight down the chain from the rear sprocket to the front you'll see what I mean. I've put together dozens of these kits and in my opinion don't buy the cheapest one you can find, they have the cheapest components like the two bolt chain adjuster...garbage, an accident waiting to slip into your spokes! Spend a little more and get a kit from Zeda Motorsports, balanced crank to minimize vibration, American stainless steel bolts on the engine, four bolt chain adjuster, 40mm intake instead of 32 for adding performance parts like a good carb and reed valve, upgraded bearings...the list goes on. You can buy directly from them or on Amazon for $10 cheaper, $139 and well worth the price, when your $60 kit takes a shit just remember not all these kits are the same. Good luck
I live in ohio as well. But i wanted to ask do the cops give you shot when riding. I looked up the laws in ogio and they want plates registration lights, head, tail, n turn. Helmet and license. Get yourself a jack shaft and use your derailer as a transmition.
In Toledo, I have never had a cop pull me over and I have passed a few. If you are pulled over I think you can tell them its a 49cc engine because if it is over it then has to be registered at 50cc to my understanding, but I could be wrong.
