As a 2022 KLDR650 owner in Canada I can say that the battery WILL NOT turn the engine over below -14c/7f. Lithium sucks ass in cold places. For this winter I'm buying booster I can keep warm for starting.
@@jg1468Absolutely! My two previous KLRs were lead acid, and they were just fine down to -20c, which where I call it quits. I wish they didn't switch, but having pocket booster on me means the problem is solved.
@@charlievandevord6613 I’ve been running lithium batteries in all of my bikes since 2019, I’ve never had any issues. You do need to buy a lithium battery compatible trickle charger for winter if you use one, I start my bikes once a week during winter, never had a battery go dead yet, if you ride in below freezing weather, turn key on with headlight on, let bike sit for 30 seconds or so to warm up battery, then start.
I have a pigtail coming off battery that I plug into battery tender. I usually just try to start the bikes up once a week & let them run a few minutes.
@@kcoutside7143 Awesome, thank you for the update! I may end up purchasing one for my KLR to save some weight. Also, my girlfriend may need a new battery for her KLX 300, so I will mention this battery to her.
I have 1 particular lithium battery which I have accidentally left key on , in bike twice, drained battery complete dead, charged it back up both times, it is still going strong. I’ve done that in the past with standard batteries & they never seem to fully recover. That may not be the case all of the time.

Good to know, I’ve never fire a bike up below 20f. Thanks for the comment!
Would lead acid battery do better at lower temps?

Great video ! 🙂 I wonder how much the front fairing weighs and I bet the exhaust is heavy too.
I did a video on exhaust installation & I did weight comparison, I think it may have been around a 5lbs. Difference. Thanks for Watching!
I hear you have to have a different charging system when you install the Lithium. Have you had any problems?

Do you take the battery out, for winter,, maintainer hookup,, or just leave it ? And hook up charger..I've got the same bike

I hear people claim the lithium batteries have more throttle response or seem peppier or cranks faster... your opinion?
they do seem to turn motor over quicker on start up.
It's been nearly a year since you installed this battery. How is it working out?
Doing great, I didn’t even keep a trickle charger on it throughout winter, had bike out a couple times in last few weeks, plenty of charge.

Are you seeing any benefits with lithium besides the weight loss?

What tires you sporting Chief!?!?!
D606 rear, Kenda Trakmaster front.
Does the battery tender work with the LiFe batteries?
Battery Tender Junior 800 will do lead or lithium, standard tender does not.
