Bought a few bikes through 5 star through the years. Good people.
So adding a slip-on and the airbox snorkel doesn't need any re-tune? I'm assuming the O2 sensor can compensate the FI for those slight mods? Would just adding the KDX snorkel only be worth it? I like the factory quiet exhaust for stealthy riding.
I didn’t retune, I do regular plug checks, & it’s always burning well. With stock exhaust, IMO it would be best to keep air box stock.
What's a good spray oil to use on the foam air filters?
I’ve always used PJ1 filter oil
It seems the flameout issue happens when riding technical stuff in the west like uphill rock gardens and boney Rocky Mountain trails. Sweet bike. I may be adding one to the garage soon too.
Curious if you feel any bottom end difference.
I’ll get it out for a ride, as soon as hurricane rain passes.
Does it seem a little quieter? I have heard they can do that ...
Yes, definitely quieter
nice! Why are your side panels orange? They’re white in the 2024 my…
I removed stock side panels & shrouds, to preserve them for resale of bike, I replaced them with straight orange.
@@kcoutside7143 makes sense and looks better. (The shrouds look like oem tho.)
Great Vid, thanks. Plays better at 2x speed tho
Getting some of our crew from CT and NY out to ride Mountain Ridge on Oct. 19th...The Place looks like fun riding.
Awesome single track, right around 50mi. Of it. The “C” sections are the roughest, loose rocky hills, deep root ruts & plenty of rocks! Enjoy the trip.

I test road one in March. I weigh 205 and thought it had more power than needed for most off-road riding. Good power delivery, and plenty for street use. Found it a bit heavy overall, and a bit top heavy for off-road. Seeing as I was not planning to do any road riding, I bought the KTM 150 xc-w. About 35lbs lighter.
150’s are awesome off road! Enjoy that thing!
This is stupid!
My riding is not off-road or anything crazy mostly long trips. I have a Triumph 900 GT pro and HD Fat Bob. Finally hurt my LT ankle when I drop my Harley last year. Wanted some boots for really good protection and bought gaerne boots. Too stiff. Maybe this boot would work better for me. I want better protection than what the leather Harley Davidson boots don't provide.
The MSR adventure boot is an awesome boot also, it offers a little more protection than the sierra. Both are great. Very little break in.
Clapped @500miles
Very nicely done. We are getting the bikes ready for Baja and expect that the rear taillight assy will last about a day. What turn signals and license plate lamp did you use? Thanks!
Tusk flush mount signals & tusk plate light from rockymountainatvmc.com have a great time at Baja, be safe!
I just searched for this part on eBay and there are aftermarket snorkels that look even bigger than the KDX200 snorkel for $30 US.
What is the purpose of the snorkel other than sound attenuation? Certainly if you are in water all the way to the top of the airbox you already have problems that the snorkel can't solve. I've run my KLX 250 without the whole airbox top plate (after market exhaust and carburetor) and other than the noise I did not notice any performance issues.
I’m not an expert on that. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in. I put exhaust on that is more free flowing(air out) , so I installed the snorkel to allow more air flow into the system , to balance everything out.
Dude, just get to the point.
Your having to much fun Nice place 😊
What app are you using to show GPS and trail mapping? I take my daughter and son to Mountain Ridge normally a few times a year. I really like how most of the trails are one way. Always worried about someone coming the other way in a Side by Side when we are riding dirt bikes. There are videos on TH-cam showing people at AOAA going 60MPH on two-way trails in RZRs - scary as hell to think of someone getting hit head on at those speeds. We haven’t been back to AOAA since I saw some of those videos. What cell phone mount are you using as well….. Thank You for the videos.
OnX off road, it’ll has all mtn. Ridge single track mapped out, I think it’s half price right now. $17, then $34 a year. You can track yourself as you ride. I’ve had a lot of close calls with SxS’s at rock run.
How do we get your channel sticker. I want it on 22 klx 300 duel sport. No laughing, it only has 300 miles on it. I know, I know.
You can get me your address I'll send some out. Email is ckckrazy@hotmail,com or messenger KCoutside facebook.
What type of glue did you use for the chain plate under the footage trick? I put IMS pegs on a used XR250R and the peg hangs down a bit, not sure if it is the peg or the foot peg mounting bracket was bent by the previous owner.
I use E6000. Goop is the same thing also.
@@kcoutside7143 Thanks, I actually have some of that and will give it a shot.
They enticed you to buy this bike so you wouldn’t show us how to get our older ones to look the same with the plastics upgraded. Hahaha
lol!
Wonder if the gearing is different from the 250S models. I’ve settled on 14-46 gearing on my 250 and found it works perfect on the trails, still capable of 70 mph at 7800 rpm even though the bikes useless at those speeds. Way too much wind buffeting you once you’re over 60 mph on these bikes for comfort. I also cut the extended part of the upgraded snorkel that goes inside the airbox as it takes up an excessive amount of airspace inside that box. Pretty sure it starves it for air.
Not sure.
thanks for keeping the KLX in the loop.
Holy cow! That thing is spotless! Do you just not use it, or do you pay a detailer? I have the '21 XT1 42" and I love it! I'm working up the courage to drop the deck, clean it, and sharpen the blades. I keep mine outside, with the cover they sent me. End of Summer, I change the oil, the oil filter, the fuel filter, the intake filter, and the spark plug(took me a couple of minutes to figure out that the hood slides off at a very particular angle...). I take out the battery and put it on a drip charger, and sprinkle the battery cables liberally with rodent repellent. I only use VP Racing fuel, 94 octane, no complaints.
Thanks ! I’m actually pretty rough on them, I detailed the old 1 up so it was nice looking for my son, I do keep up with regular maintenance. Thanks for commenting!
@@kcoutside7143 I'm pretty rough on mine too, but I do use the deck wash thing after every mow, and I hose the body down after the engine cools. It's a great machine! I'll drop the deck one of these nice weekends and give that a good cleaning too.
KX clutch cable is a little longer than the KLX. Swapped mine out when I installed bar risers...
I have the longer cable, but didn’t get it on yet.👍
No knee pockets for knee pads? Deal breaker...
They have neoprene knee pads built in.
More time riding and less time polishing and weighing the bike down with useless crap.
Love to see how the Rekluse Clutch reviewed! What about mods so far? Deletes? Thanks!
I never do many mods on my 350’s, bar risers & tubliss. I’ve owned every gen of the 350excf’s the only one I uncorked was my ‘17, & it lost a lot of bottom end when I uncorked it , I put it back to stock because I love the bottom end lugability of the excf. I’m 220 with gear & I’ve never needed any more power than stock. A lot of guys complain of flame outs, I’ve have never had that issue on any gen.👍
You like this bike better than the 350EXC-F
I will put more overall miles on the klx, but the ktm is a much better woods bike. Since I never buy off road only bikes, the 350 is kinda my woods bike.
@@kcoutside7143 I have the 2024 350xw-f bike. Basically the same bike you have except no blinkers, horn or mirrors. I uncorked it with an FMF. I love that bike.

Nice Ride & Videos 👍😊
Which one gives you the most driving pleasure?
KLX is more pleasurable off road. The CRF is more pleasurable on road.
Looks good, nice cheap solution
Wow! Wasn't even close. No surprise really given the suspension, power and weight advantages. But the little Kawi is bombproof.
You increased the intake airflow and increased the exhaust airflow. Do you plan to compensate for fueling issues with a fuel controller or is it not running lean now? Also, you seem to be worried about a pound or two weight loss but then you add the Tusk rack...haha! Another excellent video!
EFI will compensate for all but just off idle fueling. I had the same set up on my ‘21, I checked the plug often , it was always burning well. I removed about 7.5lbs. Off of the upper rear half, I did add the rack , it’s a little over a pound, I take the rack on & off depending on my riding for the day. Even 5lbs. Makes a difference off road. Especially when picking bike up.
@@kcoutside7143 I would think "just off idle fueling" might be kinda important when you're doing slower technical stuff.
@@localresident7826 I forgot to mention in the vid, on theDelkevic website it says a fuel controller is not needed on the KLX300 with the 14" oval installed.
@kcoutside7143 That bike runs really lean from the factory. Opening the airbox and exhaust make it even worse. That efi system is very simple. Its not like your typical modern automobile. It will not automatically change your fuel ratio. The Dobek Performance turer will allow you to fix that problem. It will also make your bike noticeably more powerful.
Looks good, KC! Glad to see you haven't given up on the KLX. I think that most everyone will agree that tail tidy's of some sort make bikes look better. In my case, I went the Tusk route instead of the Acerbis or TST because I wanted my tail lights to be more visible. Also, upgraded to all LED for the same reason. Best of luck with the new bike!
Appreciate the comment! Thanks for Watching!
FYI: your audio only plays in the right channel... Not an issue unless you're like me and only use the left earbud. Lol
Thanks! A couple other folks informed me also . I’m not sure what happened in that vid.
@@kcoutside7143 no worries. Thanks for the video, just the same... It made me miss riding back East. Southern NV sucks for trail riding. Lol
Bless you guys that do your own electrical installations. I just bend over and have my dealership do the installation. I’m having a set of Kakoa heated grips and aux lights put on my T7 right now.
Way to much bike for that type of riding

Best woods bike ever made is KTM 300 XC-W! Thumpers just don't have the balls IMO
I ended up picking a treated wood Gen 2 GW series at Northern Tools today. They had it on sale for 899, It's a surprisingly nice little trailer. The Gen two has a removable gate (uses bolts, no longer uses grease fittings), led lights, more tie downs, a carry handle on the tongue, powder coating, and better 12in tires. It tows well behind my 2011 6speed manual Fusion. The gen 2 mesh is 350lbs, the treated wood is 400 lbs. The gen 2 gate is positioned to where the gate can lay flat forward on the deck of the trailer so theoretically I can leave it down to tow my canoes and kayaks using your end bar trick. The trailer in this video is the SPW series. It's a heavier duty construction with 13in tires and longer gate, at the cost of payload since it uses the same 2k axle. Their website says it is 550lbs, so the payload capacity is 1450lbs vs 1600lbs with the GW series.
I have a 45 rear sprocket
13-45
No four stroke is a greater woods bike than the two stroke equivalent. Better dual sport yes, and that is important on some trails but not pure woods.
I agree, nothing beats a modern 2stroke for woods\tough terrain riding, especially here in the northeast.
