I think this video really helped be with the last piece of getting my wardrobe building right! :) I am going for a versatile wardrobe, though not necessarily a small one. I have trouble combining my clothes in many ways, so a lot of the capsule principles are what I use. However, I don't constrict to a small/specific number - but the structure will be similar to a capsule. 1) I decided to create a document with pictures of my favourite base pieces (here, I used your principles of the 'base' wardrobe), and then I found pictures to 'fill in' the type of wardrobe I wanted. 2) I used a colour 'block' system. I have a blue 'block', a black 'block', a 'nude/brown/'natural' colours 'block' (white, beige, old rose, rusty red; kind of mixed, but everything still goes together in colour), and then I have a mixed 'block' with things that are not necessarily easy to match with the same colour, but they are still pieces that I love. I saw this done in a capsule wardrobe, with just one piece of every category in a colour 'cluster', I just adapted it to a bigger scale. 3) I generally create a capsule of each color; in each of the 'blocks', I can have around 3 of everything; bottoms, 3 cardigans/layers, 3 sweaters, 3 long sleeve tops, 3 t-shirts, 3 sleeveless tops, and 3 dresses. (the idea is to get a light, a dark and a 'bright/middle shade of all item types) I don't nessicarily have everything in all categories, and I might allow myself to add a bit more, if it goes really well with other pieces. But this way, I can create very varied outfits, either by mixing the colours across the blocks (ex. black and blue or white and blue), or by using different shades with the colours. I will definitely be following this channel in the future. :)
This is a great method! I hadn't heard of the block method before, but I think it's a really solid foundation, especially because it requires you knowing what you really like to wear a lot, and duplicating it. Thank you for sharing!
i dont mean to be off topic but does any of you know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost my login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me!
Congratulations on the most practical capsule wardrobe that I have ever seen. Super Adaptable, doesn't require me to buy anything new but work with what I have. ✅✅✅
I really loved the format with pictures of the capsules in completion and with the seasonal accents. Really easy to see how it adapts from season to season.
What I love about this wardrobe is the way you rotate in a few pieces, but keep most of the items! I get tired of rotating in a WHOLE different wardrobe, keeping only a few items. This will work so much better for me. Thank you! Now, I'm off to rearrange my closet before I report back to work after all of this isolation! Watching your videos during this pandemic has helped me stay sane. Oh, and my favorite was Winter. Cheers!
Great video. Unfortunatelly I live in climate where it's very difficult to have year round capsule as summer can be extremely hot and winter very cold but the whole concept and explanation is great
Fernanda, this was fantastic, thank you! I feel this is similar to how my closet has evolved---instinctively at first, mostly by need, and later carefully planned. My year-round pieces are the traditional neutrals (black, white, navy) and then I add different shades of red, blue, green, beige, and gray as the seasons change. The cherry red and fuchsia pinks of summer get replaced by dusty pink and burgundy pieces in autumn and winter. The beach glass green and the chambray, royal, and French blues of spring get put away as I move teal, navy, emerald, and sapphire in for colder weather. The sterling, dove, driftwood, and mist grays go to charcoal and taupe, and the raffia, raw linen, khaki, and light tan beiges are substituted for rich camel and caramel-like tones. Seeing your core pieces revamped as you brought seasonal ones in and out was very enlightening, thank you.
You're on point with your colors! I'm not quite there yet cause my taste changes all the time - I should take a play from your rulebook to evolve my colors with the seasons.

Love it! Working on my first handmade module to make my wardrobe more wearable. :) Just wearing what I have til it wears out, but hoping that by the time I get 12-18 pieces done it will be coming together. :)
Two basic pieces for me in Spring (my favorite season) is a light pink trousers and a long cardigan in the same color. I pair them with anything! Regarding my climate, it can change a lot, especially during winter and summer, but there is a long period of temperate temperatures so a year round capsule is definitely interesting for me. Thanks for the video again! I'm also impatient to be on Thursday!!

This is a very considered and intelligent analysis of a capsule wardrobe. Really well done Fernanda and Thank You, You've just got a new subscriber and you deserve many more! As for a basic in my own wardrobe...a year round mid thigh length red coat is a basic I have had in my wardrobe for about 20 years now and it really defines my style and who I am.
Hi Vera! Welcome! Thank you so much for subscribing. The red coat is a great example. I bet it's great quality - I have never owned something that has lasted more than 5 years looking great. I aim to buy better quality clothes moving forward!
Thanks a lot for this vid, it's really helpful! When it comes to me, my wardrobe basics that for some may not be that "basic" are: a knitted mustard sweater with a jewel neckline, a purple turtleneck and a long-sleeved button-up white shirt with vertical red stripes
I like your channel a lot because you use prints and bold colours and are not afraid to combine them, which is not always easy. Keep going on, i will keep learning.
I consider belts to be one of my basics because I always wear them to accentuate my figure and tie in the colors of my outfit but like you said, the gold part of a belt for example might be the statement bit in a more monochromatic wardrobe :)
Great explanation on capsules and how to incorporate different pops of color per season! I’ll admit, I love the ideals of minimalism but was having a hard time with the idea of paring my closet down further than I already have (unless something is worn out or not my style anymore lol). Your explanation really helps me see how I can rethink my wardrobe and not have to pair things down because of a color not fitting my overall palette or something like that. Thank you for your hard work! :) By the way, where is that lovely orange dress from? 😊

Hi Sherry - I did some research - the seasonal colors is something that I'm still a little lost with, but if you're a spring, doesn't that mean that you're warm toned? Hi Fernanda. Thanks for replying. I wish, however, bold colours such as mustard yellow, bright rusty oranges and khaki olive greens make me look ill. Jumpsuits go in the tops/ dresses category, and overalls in the bottoms.

Awww thank you! I love this comment!
Hello! I dont get how sleeveless is for the whole year.
I’ve been looking for a shirt like yours where did you get?
I got it from a wardrobe stylist I worked with years ago, but the brand is BP. I believe Nordstrom carries it.
How do you make that kind of image featuring all the pieces? It would help a ton to see all my pieces at a glance like that so I really want to make something similar 😊 Loved the video! ✨
I used Canva to create it, but honestly I use Pinterest for that! Check the Pinterest blog linked in the description box so you can get an idea of where I started, and also my Pinterest Capsule wardrobe video might help!
Where oh where can I find a chambray dress like the one you have?
Mine is from Old Navy, they still have a few sizes available! oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=570773012&vid=1#pdp-page-content
