  • I sampled every Duplicolour Metalcast Anodized colour so we could see what they look like in real life! And wow!! These colours pop. I also sprayed a few other colours for comparative measure.
    Let me know what you think about these colours in the comments below.

    This is exactly what I've been looking for, and exactly what Duplicolor should have made as a demo for their products! You clearly and concisely demonstrated the colors and their application, and allowed time to view each shade in the "real world" light of day. I would not be surprised if the sales of their products have increased substantially since this video was released (especially for the purple Metalcast!) I have used the Metalcast Red on my 2006 Mustang GT calipers, and the achieved look is just as stunning as you showed here in the video. Many thanks for this great content, I've subscribed to see what other great info you have to share!

    So for already painted brake calipers, do you suggest still sanding down the caliper, put on a layer of primer, next the silver, then the color of choice? Or should I just skip the primer?

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi mate, depending on the primer I guess. Some primer is designed for priming previously (roughened sanded) painted areas, some primer for bare metal. Unfortunately I don't have a specific answer for previously painted Calipers re primer. But perhaps if you get a primer surfacer that's designed for previously painted areas. Or hope that sanded previous paint and new paint bond together well VS new primer sticking to the old sanded paint.

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it was because I was painting the cardboard squares and the paint was soaking into the cardboard and drying matte. Painted gloss red caliper paint for example on calipers in the past they are glossy finish but clearcoat definitely makes them shine more and certainly long-lasting shine because the brake dust doesn't stick to the clear coat as easily as it does stick.to the colour base coat only. Brake calipers that don't have to go on top overtime colorcote looks a bit more dull Faded

      I have used a duplicolour product that is a high temperature primer, So that could be an option that matches high temp properties of the main colour cans above.
      Otherwise typically yes plastic primer helps with adhesion. Clear coat can be extra UV protection for sure. Make sure the clear you use is enamel based to match the enamel paints these duplicolour Annodized range is.

    Can this be applied to the whole car? How many cans do I need?

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Technically you could do it to the whole car but it would be tricky to get even coverage across the car as in, to spread the colour coat evenly so it doesn't look lighter/darker in patches would be the tricky part. Car body needs primer, sanding smooth, colour coats, then 2k clear coat ontop.
      One consideration is if you get a scratch.. You won't be able to touch up easily at all because the metalcast paint is a tinted clear essentially, so touch up to stone chips/scratches won't work.
      It would likely also cost too much. Perhaps 12 cans of silver base coat, 12 cans of metalcast colour coat, and 10 odd clear coat cans. Just the paint cans themselves would cost so much.
      You will likely find it easier and cheaper to find a paint colour you like and go with that rather than this colour range that needs the silver first and then the colour coat.
      Best finish would be using a spray gun for painting. Using cans for full body will be costly and tricky to get a full even coverage.
