10 years ago we actually looked at buying a house in Avenel (one of many places including Beechworth, Yackandandah, Chiltern) before we settled on a place near Daylesford. So are familiar with all these locales. We often stop at the pub for lunch if we are heading north from Melbourne as it’s nice and off the main freeway. And then walk the dogs across the old sandstone bridge nearby. Remember when the old post office near the train line was operated as a cafe.
Hey mate great video and thanks for visiting our little town my parents were away so I waited until now to watch it with them and we all enjoyed it👍. Keep well my friend 😄.
All credit for visiting Avenel goes to this chap for suggesting it - It was nice to meet you and indeed, you have one of the coolest pocket rockets (VW Golf) in the state ! 👍
You missed a couple of Kelly things. Near the grave of John Kelly are the Shelton graves. Esau and Margaret are the people who gave Ned his green sash for saving their son Robert from drowning. Robert is also buried here. Down from the Hughes Creek Bridge is the former Royal Hotel which was operated by the Sheltons at the time.
Thank-you for the update - Gives another the opportunity to do their perspective of the town and especially who follow the Ned Kelly story ... I liked the pub just over the bridge and would have gone in for lunch but we were limited with time ... The town has a lot of potential for those seeking a country lifestyle change.
Absolutely there is legislation about trespass and the conditions that have to be met for them to apply (basically anyone can walk up to a front door of a property to knock on it and many believe their property is a fortress when it isn't), but what I do doesn't breach them as I understand what determines trespass ... Unfortunately many people simply don't understand them - As I tell everyone and anyone, if you feel that I have committed a crime, you should immediately contact Police and direct them to the video in question.
you are not too far wrong but your pronunciation of avenel is like fingernails down a blackboard to me. my dad was a train driver so he knew how all town names were pronounced and ive heard him say all these names so i know the correct way too. the correct way to say it is to remove the last 'e'. avenl. that house at 22:00 might be really old with a newer section built on the back. sash windows were long out of fashion by the 50's or 60's. the termites really have been enjoying the place.

Area around Daylesford is a very good choice

Great Video - Shared/Scheduled
This town is definitely one with a positive future with newer residential estates to improve it's population and prospects

Trespass is never OK.
