In this video we will focus on the railway station, historic homestead and other locations of interest.
Rockbank is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 28 km (17 mi) west of the Melbourne central business district, located within the City of Melton local government area. The name is derived from the stone-strewn ground, which provided material for dry-stone walls around the paddocks. Despite the appropriateness of the name, however, the primary school was named New Cambridge from its opening in 1868 until 1906.
Plans for a new suburb, Rockbank North, were unveiled in 2014. The suburb could eventually have 20,000 people, 7000 homes, schools, an indoor sports facility and a health and education precinct. Rockbank North could include two town centres, childcare facilities, two pre-schools, three primary schools, a high school, maternal child health services and community facilities including a public library.

Rockbank has gone ‘ whoosh’ in the last 5 years. From a scattering of houses and a business and a tiny tiny station to full blown suburb and massive station. I still am old enough to remember the Rockbank Lion Safari next to the Western Highway/Freeway (and there was another out at Bacchus Marsh).

it did develop fast - let's hope trees can grow along the main roads and in people's backyards (they might have to bring in some top soil !)

I didn't realise either how this town/suburb grew overnight ... or so it appears ... it was a sea of new roof tops in many parts of the area.
