Paul Rodgers possesses one of the hardest blues/rock voices in rock history. Free was a seminal band in the late 60’s/early 70’s. That riff or something similar was probably used by many bands during that time. 🔥🔥

The whole Free back catalogue is a joy to hear. Can't think of another band that sounded like this. Robin Trower had a great singer with a similar vibe, his name is James Dewar. RIP. Worth a visit.

This isn't the kind of music that they create university courses to study, and hold up as works of art. This is the kind of music your mechanic listens to while he fixes your car. The music that plays while your homes are built. This is the sound of blue jeans and dirty boots. This is the sound of the working class. That's why it sounds so relateable and real.

He wrote the song for Paul kossoff the lead guitar player for Free who died on an airplane after landing at Kennedy airport. The song was written before he died but Kossoff was in bad shape, it was abusing mandrax which is the British version of quaalude and some say he was on heroin too. Great band . One of the most Influential bands ever and the springboard to an amazing career of the vocalist extraordinaire, Paul Rodgers. They have many great songs, the album this comes from is fire! You should react to the whole thing. Try from their live album, Mr Big, it is a killer rock song that builds through guitar and bass playing that reaches a crescendo. Great tune and band, enjoy! 🎶🎸🎤🎹🎶

Paul Rogers has one of the most soulful voices in rock history. I've never heard it scream like Roger Daltry, or hit high notes like Ian Gillan, but wow. Free had a couple of hits, but he didn't enjoy great success until he helped form Bad Company. The riff you are hearing in this song, sounds like something Bad Company would have played.

You guys are blowing me away with the Hidden Gems your comming up with, Like " Wishing Well" from Free. Easily one of my top twenty Heaviest songs of all time. Nobody else is reacting to alot of the tunes your doing. Its refreshing to say the least. Alot of us grew up with these great classic songs, but you never hear them anymore. Its great to see you appreciate and react to the songs for what they are. They affected us then, the same way its affecting you now. Timeless!! From about 65 to 78 was like the Golden Age of Rock. It was so experimental. No body really sounded the same, unlike today. Thanks Guys! Keep it up!
    Heres one for ya.
"Fat Man in the Bathtub" by Little Feat, from the live album " Waiting for Columbus" it was know as one of the best sounding and recorded live albums of all time. From one of the best bands of all time!

Brilliant song, brilliant blues-rock singer (Free, later Bad Company, ... a tour with Queen ...) brilliant riffs, but unfortunately it wasn't enough for a long time and several albums. In the 70s I would have said to incorporate instrumental middle parts, bridges, transitions into one or the other song, which they sometimes did live; listen to the live versions.👍
in the 80's The Stone Roses was another promising band. Today with the totally changed music industry and listening habits - where composition and creativity are often not in the foreground - I don't know if this would be enough.

After you check out Bad Company check out the first album by The Firm.
Paul Rodgers on vocal, Jimmy Page on guitar, crazy bassist (Tony Franklin) and Heavy drummer (Chris Slade).
Bad Company was, I believe, the only band besides Zeppelin to be produced by Swan Song, Zeppelin's own record label. So Jimmy and Paul had history, and did the Firm project in 1985.

Everyone has heard it and/or MUST HEAR that song before they die, and I'm sure, if you haven't heard it, you're going to love it and it will be burned into your mind forever. Paul Rogers' voice is as driving there as it was here. As others have pointed out, he is also the lead singer in Bad Company, and I highly recommend that you go down that rabbit hole. Songs of theirs that I would shoot for are (Rock on !!!):
    1. Bad Company
    2. Can't Get Enough
    3. Movin' On
    4. Rock Steady
    5. Seagull

Paul Rodgers is the rock voice many vocalists wish they had, he never pushes it, it is just pure emotion. Even when he was Queen's vocalist, he didn't try to do Fred Mercury (who could, though Adam Lambert clones Freddies sound) he let them know upfront they were getting him not a mimic. Not to say Robert Plant, Roger Daltrey, Ian Gillan to name few aren't excellent frontmen. Rodgers is just perfect, also a great pianist (he plays guitar also).
