My oldest daughter saw this and thought it might help me and I'm going to pass it on to you. Can't clean a room, clean a corner. Can't do all the dishes, wash a few. Can't take a shower, wash your face. Always look for the thing that you can do with the energy and focus you do have. Little wins pave the way for bigger wins. 1% beats 0%. I know I’m very late commenting here (2 months late) and there’s so many things I want to say but I actually came here to say that that pesky groundhog family hang about in your garden and east your flowers because they are FULL of love!
Something as simple as a 10 minute wallpaper project can add so much joy. It adds color, life and personality. As for gardening... I have been in my small home and garden 52 years this year!!! I just went out and deadheaded a few flowers, pulled a few weeds and watered the garden in the sunshine. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh A mini vacation for the soul. It doesn't take much. Now a nice lunch and maybe a few chapters of something wonderful to read. A quiet, peaceful life is a treasure. At 73, I only watch u tube.. no face book, no instagram... just videos on decorationg, gardening and home tours and cooking. I am a No Drama mama!

You videos are always so good for my soul, I recently moved home, a one bed flat in the uk. I have a lovely garden, well it will be lovely it’s a blank canvas at the moment. Along with financial restraints we are having a really wet summer we also had a wet spring so getting out and doing the free things has been so hard, I was having garden envy for awhile seeing other peoples put together gardens. Then I stopped and just spent what ever time I could in my garden being grateful for what I had.

You will laugh when I tell you that when you first showed your garden and started talking about the cedar mulch, I thought you had put down terra cotta tiles - then I realized it was the wet cardboard! It looked great! Me too. 68 years old ,enjoying a slower pace. It is a learning curve. I started working at 13 years of age. I retired 3 years ago to help babysit and homeschool my grandaughter. I did it to save my daughtertravel time then she suddenly moved out. Then my husband got sick. I was doing elder care so thankfully I was able to care for him. Not going to peoples homes to care for them was a big part of my life. I want to do it again but not through an agency but on my own and not for money, just because I love to help people
Walmart employees always seem to get bad reputations. It's nice to hear about your experience. I worked 18 years for Walmart (retired now ) and always tried to treat our customers like that. Way to go Carlos!!!!
I have had wonderful experiences with Walmart employees. I love to tell them thank-you for coming to work, I genuinely mean it. I do not like those self check outs. They take jobs away and I still see people still needed to straighten problems out
We all have those days when our mind wants to stop us from overdoing it and take a breather. As much as I hate those days I believe it is God's way of saying "Slow down and take care of yourself child"! Yes, the wall paper on the cabinets looks awesome.
Hello! It's always a journey to self-acceptance. Sometimes, it's a day to day and sometimes a little longer in between. At 60, I'm finally giving myself grace to just be who I am, the woman God made me to be. The phrase 'comparison is the thief of joy' is so true. Much love❤
I am a bit behind on your videos but this is lovely! I am making a promise to do just one small project per week, things on that list we all avoid. It's made a huge difference. This weekend- caulking the bathroom shower and tub! WOOT! And a good scrub! Last weekend, I repainted some decor items that needed a facelift. Before that, I shortened to cotton dresses and I have been able to enjoy them! Next weekend, I have just one small bathroom ceiling I need to repaint. It's the little things that make a big difference. I also took a LOT of items off my to do list.

The black with flowers paper is the cutest. Well chosen! Years I started working on projects one hour each day. Attacking projects in the garden with this method, has been a way to get it done, but not to drive yourself insane. It works for us. Work small amounts of time every day and it does get done
I suffer from a lot of pain and am housebound so I can totally relate about taking things slowly. I try to tell myself that I am blessed with a roof over my head, a steady but fixed income, and people who love me. When the pain gets great, I tell myself it is better than the alternative. I enjoy watching your videos because you are very relatable but you are also exceptionally talented, beautiful, and kind. As for your garden, it strikes me as a big challenge because you probably don't get much sunlight. I can see your garden filled with shade loving perennials like hostas, ferns, astilbe, bleeding hearts, coral bells, foxglove, and lily of the valley. I always supplemented my shade garden with annuals like impatiens, begonias, caladium, coleus, polka dot plants, and fuchsia (which can all come inside at the end of the season).

I too can't afford those expensive Starbucks drinks, so what I did is save one of their cups, and I make my own. I brew my coffee and keep it in the refrigerator. Ice, half soy milk, half coffee and a little bit of maple syrup. And then take it with me.☺️

Just so you know-- thats not true at all. You are beautiful just the way you are. I love your eclectic decor & style of dress. You always look beautiful. I have MS so can relate to some of your healt issues. I have just learned to slow down & do what I can. I go to thrift stores too & always find great things. My look is "up north woodsy cabin." I've been recovering from knee surgery the past 4 weeks, so have of necessity been taking it easy. Years of chronic pain had drained my usually high energy levels. I can feel my energy returning, but it's not quite back yet. I'm pacing myself and doing what I can. Gardening will be minimal this year, but that's ok...there's always next year, and dreaming and planning. And lots of things I need to do, and want to do, around the house. In the meantime, I'm grateful for all my blessings. I hope you can have your surgery soon and get back on the path to good health. In the meantime, remember that you're unique, special, and a blessing to many. 🙂

Invest in a good thermal cup, with or without a straw, one that you really like and feels good to hold. Then make your own iced coffee to take. I also sometimes carry ice in a cooler bag along with a thermos of tea or coffee that I've let cool off for refills. It's worth it financially and taste wise to do it this way. Sure, I will still stop occasionally, but I find I like making it the way I like it and not waiting in line. Bonus: more $ for flowers! P.S. Loved the wallpaper!
I am so glad that you are learning to slow down and take a breath. The world moves so fast these days it is easy to get lost in traffic. I have a little porch about the size of yours. I sit and have my coffee and listen to the birds singing and see my plants and flowers growing in my little container garden in the backyard. I love your little kitchen projects that you completed. My tiny front yard is where I have my veggie garden (In containers too). I have a small seating area there too (I like to read outside). My space has no grass (No mowing for me) and I too have been taking my time container by container to build my garden. This year I have planted more pollinator friendly flowers. I love that I have all this nature around me even tho I live in the city. At 65, I'm learning that I can slow down and enjoy the view that this patch of nature is affording me. Please take care and enjoy your beautiful patch of nature!!
I do everything in my own time both to prevent overwhelm and to do as I have the energy. I painted the interior walls of my entire home by myself. It took a year and a half. I didn’t feel like giving up since I gave myself grace and the time I needed.

I myself have been hunkered down and haven't gotten my vegy garden in....sigh....being on SS has been challenging with the Inflation!!!! Talking to myself and trying to be gentle with myself. I live in the heart of Lansing, Michigan, in a 151 year old house, and I have groundhogs in my quiet little neighborhood. And rabbits. And squirrels. Saw 2 skunks a few years ago. Raccoons. *So* many kinds of birds...might have to do with my street dead ending at the river. My little back yard is a sweet green patch, shaded by a catalpa tree. I've been homeless a few times, and never thought I'd live in such a comforting place. *I'm home.*
Our Chihuahua Oscar was very much like Charlie. I started using a mobile vet that came to the house. It made it a lot easier on him and us. We had to muzzle Oscar and wrap him in a blanket to get his toenails cut. Or even have the vet, listen to his lungs, etc. I wonder if he had an allergic reaction to the rabies.Good luck, I love watching your channel.

I agree that how we start the day is SO important, I also take my cuppa out to the patio, and usually feel a surge of gratitude as I look at my little 1/2 a yard, watch my bird friends, and savor having the time to ground. I read some thing inspiring, this year it is a book of days by Richard Rohr; YES AND. Sorry you are waiting for surgery. I'm in Kansas City and thought my gall bladder would be removed in Jan/Feb, I would be all healed by vernal equinox. It was on April 16th! I understand the pandemic took a toll on essential medical workers. They had hard enough jobs already, but I know it must be frustrating to not be able to make plans ect. Looks like you're making the best of it, and smart to stay off instagram too.

OK, my 2 dogs nails- My rockstar niece suggested the quilted vest maneuver. Ordered the cheapest from Amazon . It works like a charm. They are suspended from ceiling hooks, & act like normal dogs vs spoiled ones . So 1 trim paid for the vest. ❤and yes 👍🏻 I do the coffee hack as well. Elizabeth.

I'm 80 and have multiple physical problems. i agree that we need to pace ourselves and don't take on projects that we know in our hearts we will never be able to do. My garden looks pretty right now because nature is kind lately. But summer promises a lot of heat in central California. So I water in the early morning, before coffee and even feeding my dogs. I have a chihuahua named Charlie and a big butt corgie named Baby Girl. Kindness is a major goal in life, for others and for one's self. Kindness is how I chose my 2nd husband (when I was 56) and we had twenty lovely years til Covid got us. Still, I love life and the Universe loves us, so we should love it back!

Your garden is coming along beautifully! Maybe you don't notice it as much because you see it every day, but it already looks a lot better than it used to. I make the same mistake you do, I look a decorating shows on HGTV and want my house completely renovated in a weekend! LOL! Renovations, whether it is of our surroundings or of our soul, take a lot longer and go slowly. We need to try to enjoy the process. Thank you for your videos. I find them very soothing.

Beautiful! Just remember, we don't need to walk on others to elevate ourselves! Especially, hard lesson to remember in times of trial! I had 2 surgeries in my 60's, one emergency and the other my decision and I understand the energy issue...now, especially in my 70's. Be ever so kind to yourself, as you are your own destiny!! You are a brave pioneer woman and "You go girl!", as the saying goes:)! Glad it's been better for her! I came home with a pain med this time, too. But thankfully, he did great and didn't need it! But anything for our babies : ) ❤❤❤

I know I’m very late commenting here (2 months late) and there’s so many things I want to say but I actually came here to say that that pesky groundhog family hang about in your garden and east your flowers because they are FULL of love!
Something as simple as a 10 minute wallpaper project can add so much joy. It adds color, life and personality. As for gardening... I have been in my small home and garden 52 years this year!!! I just went out and deadheaded a few flowers, pulled a few weeds and watered the garden in the sunshine. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh A mini vacation for the soul. It doesn't take much. Now a nice lunch and maybe a few chapters of something wonderful to read. A quiet, peaceful life is a treasure. At 73, I only watch u tube.. no face book, no instagram... just videos on decorationg, gardening and home tours and cooking. I am a No Drama mama!

You videos are always so good for my soul, I recently moved home, a one bed flat in the uk. I have a lovely garden, well it will be lovely it’s a blank canvas at the moment. Along with financial restraints we are having a really wet summer we also had a wet spring so getting out and doing the free things has been so hard, I was having garden envy for awhile seeing other peoples put together gardens. Then I stopped and just spent what ever time I could in my garden being grateful for what I had.
I'm in the UK I know what you mean about the weather. I have struggled to get out in the garden, let's hope we get a nice dry summer soon x

Me too. 68 years old ,enjoying a slower pace. It is a learning curve. I started working at 13 years of age. I retired 3 years ago to help babysit and homeschool my grandaughter. I did it to save my daughtertravel time then she suddenly moved out. Then my husband got sick. I was doing elder care so thankfully I was able to care for him. Not going to peoples homes to care for them was a big part of my life. I want to do it again but not through an agency but on my own and not for money, just because I love to help people
Walmart employees always seem to get bad reputations. It's nice to hear about your experience. I worked 18 years for Walmart (retired now ) and always tried to treat our customers like that. Way to go Carlos!!!!

I have had wonderful experiences with Walmart employees. I love to tell them thank-you for coming to work, I genuinely mean it. I do not like those self check outs. They take jobs away and I still see people still needed to straighten problems out

I am a bit behind on your videos but this is lovely! I am making a promise to do just one small project per week, things on that list we all avoid. It's made a huge difference. This weekend- caulking the bathroom shower and tub! WOOT! And a good scrub! Last weekend, I repainted some decor items that needed a facelift. Before that, I shortened to cotton dresses and I have been able to enjoy them! Next weekend, I have just one small bathroom ceiling I need to repaint. It's the little things that make a big difference. I also took a LOT of items off my to do list.

Attacking projects in the garden with this method, has been a way to get it done, but not to drive yourself insane. It works for us. Work small amounts of time every day and it does get done
that's a great way to do it. Just an hour at a time ... and eventually, it will get done!❤❤❤
I suffer from a lot of pain and am housebound so I can totally relate about taking things slowly. I try to tell myself that I am blessed with a roof over my head, a steady but fixed income, and people who love me. When the pain gets great, I tell myself it is better than the alternative. I enjoy watching your videos because you are very relatable but you are also exceptionally talented, beautiful, and kind. As for your garden, it strikes me as a big challenge because you probably don't get much sunlight. I can see your garden filled with shade loving perennials like hostas, ferns, astilbe, bleeding hearts, coral bells, foxglove, and lily of the valley. I always supplemented my shade garden with annuals like impatiens, begonias, caladium, coleus, polka dot plants, and fuchsia (which can all come inside at the end of the season).

I too can't afford those expensive Starbucks drinks, so what I did is save one of their cups, and I make my own. I brew my coffee and keep it in the refrigerator. Ice, half soy milk, half coffee and a little bit of maple syrup. And then take it with me.☺️

I've been recovering from knee surgery the past 4 weeks, so have of necessity been taking it easy. Years of chronic pain had drained my usually high energy levels. I can feel my energy returning, but it's not quite back yet. I'm pacing myself and doing what I can. Gardening will be minimal this year, but that's ok...there's always next year, and dreaming and planning. And lots of things I need to do, and want to do, around the house. In the meantime, I'm grateful for all my blessings. I hope you can have your surgery soon and get back on the path to good health. In the meantime, remember that you're unique, special, and a blessing to many. 🙂

Invest in a good thermal cup, with or without a straw, one that you really like and feels good to hold. Then make your own iced coffee to take. I also sometimes carry ice in a cooler bag along with a thermos of tea or coffee that I've let cool off for refills. It's worth it financially and taste wise to do it this way. Sure, I will still stop occasionally, but I find I like making it the way I like it and not waiting in line. Bonus: more $ for flowers! P.S. Loved the wallpaper!

I have a little porch about the size of yours. I sit and have my coffee and listen to the birds singing and see my plants and flowers growing in my little container garden in the backyard. I love your little kitchen projects that you completed.
My tiny front yard is where I have my veggie garden (In containers too). I have a small seating area there too (I like to read outside). My space has no grass (No mowing for me) and I too have been taking my time container by container to build my garden. This year I have planted more pollinator friendly flowers. I love that I have all this nature around me even tho I live in the city. At 65, I'm learning that I can slow down and enjoy the view that this patch of nature is affording me.

I do everything in my own time both to prevent overwhelm and to do as I have the energy. I painted the interior walls of my entire home by myself. It took a year and a half. I didn’t feel like giving up since I gave myself grace and the time I needed.

I live in the heart of Lansing, Michigan, in a 151 year old house, and I have groundhogs in my quiet little neighborhood. And rabbits. And squirrels. Saw 2 skunks a few years ago. Raccoons. *So* many kinds of birds...might have to do with my street dead ending at the river. My little back yard is a sweet green patch, shaded by a catalpa tree. I've been homeless a few times, and never thought I'd live in such a comforting place. *I'm home.*

Our Chihuahua Oscar was very much like Charlie. I started using a mobile vet that came to the house. It made it a lot easier on him and us. We had to muzzle Oscar and wrap him in a blanket to get his toenails cut. Or even have the vet, listen to his lungs, etc. I wonder if he had an allergic reaction to the rabies.Good luck, I love watching your channel.

I agree that how we start the day is SO important, I also take my cuppa out to the patio, and usually feel a surge of gratitude as I look at my little 1/2 a yard, watch my bird friends, and savor having the time to ground. I read some thing inspiring, this year it is a book of days by Richard Rohr; YES AND. Sorry you are waiting for surgery. I'm in Kansas City and thought my gall bladder would be removed in Jan/Feb, I would be all healed by vernal equinox. It was on April 16th! I understand the pandemic took a toll on essential medical workers. They had hard enough jobs already, but I know it must be frustrating to not be able to make plans ect. Looks like you're making the best of it, and smart to stay off instagram too.

OK, my 2 dogs nails- My rockstar niece suggested the quilted vest maneuver. Ordered the cheapest from Amazon . It works like a charm. They are suspended from ceiling hooks, & act like normal dogs vs spoiled ones . So 1 trim paid for the vest. ❤and yes 👍🏻 I do the coffee hack as well. Elizabeth.

I'm 80 and have multiple physical problems. i agree that we need to pace ourselves and don't take on projects that we know in our hearts we will never be able to do. My garden looks pretty right now because nature is kind lately. But summer promises a lot of heat in central California. So I water in the early morning, before coffee and even feeding my dogs. I have a chihuahua named Charlie and a big butt corgie named Baby Girl. Kindness is a major goal in life, for others and for one's self. Kindness is how I chose my 2nd husband (when I was 56) and we had twenty lovely years til Covid got us. Still, I love life and the Universe loves us, so we should love it back!

Your garden is coming along beautifully! Maybe you don't notice it as much because you see it every day, but it already looks a lot better than it used to. I make the same mistake you do, I look a decorating shows on HGTV and want my house completely renovated in a weekend! LOL! Renovations, whether it is of our surroundings or of our soul, take a lot longer and go slowly. We need to try to enjoy the process. Thank you for your videos. I find them very soothing.

Aww poor Charlie. I have an itty bitty fur babe and she used to be so uncomfortable after vaccinations. After her first ones I started getting a pain med for her and she’s been great after. 💗
Glad it's been better for her! I came home with a pain med this time, too. But thankfully, he did great and didn't need it! But anything for our babies : ) ❤❤❤
