easiest way to get a job with no experience is by shunting, shunting trailers for a company is better than OTR in my opinion, your paid by the hour,12 hour shifts and home every night, back in the 90s and early 2000s otr trucking was cool but now it sucks
Cool, what companies hire for shunting

That doesn’t count as experience. If you’re talking about yard driver. I was a yard driver from when I was 19 years old until 30. Got my cdl companies don’t count 11 years as experience.

There’s a difference in City driving and otr.. usually local runs require about 2 years of experience since there’s more traffic and obstacles to maneuver around.
I’ve noticed the requirements are different, there’s still companies that will take you on with at least 3-6 months experience locally.
I haven’t done over the road. Labor work is fine. I pull a hose for a fuel company driving a straight truck fuel tanker. I have my class A but made as much or more and was home every night. Propane delivery same thing a bit too.
That’s what’s up, it’s all about the money & home time at the end of the day for me so that sounds like a nice gig
Prime is 50,000 miles of training. TMC flatbed is best starter when i did my research fresh out of school if u hustle u can make 86k first year or more. But ur going be put for 4 to 6 weeks even tho the tell u 2 weeks out then weekend off. Prime if u can get pass that 50k is great company pay is top notch too.
I’ve don’t flatbed for a month with a stone company it wasn’t that bad, It’s something I would consider and recommend as well.
Prime sucks
I started at Gordon food service with no experience and I’m have a four day work week grossing $2000 weekly it is very hard work even though I go to the gym regularly and I’ve been training mixed martial arts for years you’ll definitely want to quit at times but or no experience the money is there especially for being local

Food service really not that bad. I work for Cheney. I don't love it but I don't hate it. It's just about learning the products. The more you know the products the better it is and the speed will come. Food service is the best local trucking jobs but like homie said it is physical but it can be done.
Sysco called me wanting to set an interview, I have my options open and the pay is great but I’ve heard how strenuous it is and I’m kind of hesitant.
I got my CDL in August..mane no job is hiring me, I got a careless 11/21, failure to display both tags 10/23 accident on file 8/21 no other parties just me in my car, I got stuck and thought I needed a tow, but was able to get myself out before the towing company arrived and now that's on my record smh.. . Been to 2 orientations, completed them both, just for both companies to say the safety team has denied me and that's crazy is . The company was western Express and covenant which both hire folks with criminal backgrounds and challenging driving records
@@ManIAm91 I don’t understand why they would even waste your time like that, they shouldn’t had took you onboard for orientation for that much. But with a recent accident it’s definitely hard trying to get hired, but try local mom & pop companies they are more reluctant to give new drivers a chance.
@@rydewithty exactly all they do is offer me orientation and turn me down once it's completed.. but there was no accident Its just on my record because I thought I needed a tow truck but I was able to free myself

Amazon be blowing my phone up but I got 6 years experience. No way I’d drive for 23/hr. Prime is an okay place to start for OTR. I say okay because it comes down to who your trainer is as there isn’t a streamlined way of training over there. Everyone has their own methods and not all of them work.
Yeah man $23 isn’t worth it, I get more than that but this is just to get my experience in anyways. I did hear Prime is a good starter for OTR but I don’t want to go OTR I’m staying local for now
@@rydewithty I know with AFP it depends on the area as far as pay goes but those cats still be holding on to the money. Here in KC, they start at like 23-26/hr. A recruiter called me up talking that mess and I got her right off my phone

@@slimm-xh9jd That’s possible why they’re not hiring you. Does your work history have any gaps in between were you wasn’t working? They look for 10yrs consistent work history and sometimes only 3 jobs within that 10 years so that can also be a factor. Keep looking around though try small local companies too some be willing to train.

Local os usaully in bobtail botteled water or cocca cola etc, more of a class b cdl. Most every local requires 6mo to a yr and 8k to 50k of OTR. Local class A day cabs are earned through experience. Trucking, there is no shortage as companies are laying off tens of thosands and loads/pay are less than 2018. Not a good career to go into any more theres just no $ in it unless you stick with it of you have just started since 2022, expect to work 45/60 hrs weeks, lots of boring waiting and cancels, through at least 2029 for good $.
@@08turboSS I agree with most of your take. I disagree that there ain’t no money in it. Now I know it hasn’t been the same industry but there are companies paying good and also depends of what type of trucking you do as well it’s a wide spectrum.

While I am way over the age of 21 I’ve been doing research and into getting into this industry because it’s been in my family throughout my entire life. Hey man, so I have two points on my driving record its just a speeding ticket but how much of a harder time do you think I'm going to have getting hired?
Check your CSA Score. From my knowledge each violation/ticket adds points to your CSA score. Also take into consideration how fast over you were going etc. Once you hit 50 points or higher is where you will encounter more problems getting hired. So if that’s all you got and it wasn’t over 50 points I don’t see why you would have a problem.
