Mam today was my test, there were four questions regarding Aromaticx and non aromaticx, I use this your trick, and all are correct answers.. It appeared very helpful today, I just saw this video last night... And additional answers will cause my selection, if I have not seen this, then I couldn't ..
I was solving that NEET(Indian medical entrance exam) question paper of this year for practice and man it had question related to this i tried to search about it but couldn't understand stumble upon this one and I just wanted to say *thank you* for this Your channel is really great!! u explain concept so good .
Mam this is my first watching video of urs and believe me i am become ur fan u are amazing....keep it up mam only the teachers like u help us to score great marks in O. C thanku very much...thanks again
I love you soooo muchhhh Leah ~ Some other websites they'd just drop down the name huckel's rule and don't even try to explain as concisely as possible. Thanks again for the wonderful content!
I doubt that the last aromatic compound is just an example for more elucidating huckel's rule and indeed is hypothetic , in other words, does not exist in real world. Lastly , thank you so much for all of your videos , I appreciate them highly.
I've never tested that in a lab but simply presented as a drawing for the sake of showing a large example. Pen and paper chemistry is always so much easier and smoother ;) And you've very welcome
You are amazing. Thank you for your time and effort. *Odd number of e- pairs obeys huckel's rule see for yourself-- I get it now! Your ability to share this in simple steps is poetic!
Assalam o alaikum mam.i am from pakistan .our language is urdu i find difficulty in understanding english but i hear this lectures twice and understand very well .lecture is so nice alot of thanks and lot of love from pakistan❤❤❤now i am big fan of u😘😘
I think,Your 3rd example that is cyclooctatetrene is a non aromatic compound. Bcz it is stable in tub-shape which is non-planar.So resonance is absent in this case.
Thanks so much for pointing this out! I'm only human and depend on help from viewers like you to notice any mistakes I make along the way. A note about this error has been added to the video description. Cyclooctatetraene is not planar and is a non-aromatic compound. Thanks again for pointing this out!
@@Leah4sci most welcome mam. you are doing amazing work. I am from India, and i like your teaching style .I have seen manyof your videos. Thankx for teaching us.🙏🙏
It is egregious that this video describes cyclooctatetraene as planar. It takes a tub formation to reduce angle strain resulting in no p orbital overlap, and thus no conjugation.
Thanks so much for pointing this out! I'm only human and depend on help from viewers like you to notice any mistakes I make along the way. A note about this error has been added to the video description. Cyclooctatetraene is not planar and is a non-aromatic compound. Thanks again for pointing this out!
I have a video explaining this in detail (in this series) showing you when they do and don't count. In short, if they are needed for resonance, yes. Otherwise no
Hi Leah, nice video. I am writing you to give you a word of advice. You have to be more careful with the accuracy of the content of your videos not to confuse people. Cyclooctatetraene is not planar, it adopts an inherently nonplanar tub-shaped geometry of D2d symmetry with alternating single and double bond, and the pi bonds don't resonate the way you proposed (like they do in benzene). For the rest, good work!
Thanks for reaching out! We are aware of this error, and have addressed it as a note in the video description above. Don't hesitate to reach out for further questions and/or comments.
You are the first chemistry teacher who actually made me understand what is exactly happening in a very simple way. Much love to you!

A 2pi electron system gives n =0 that's anti - aromatic I think that's an exception to your generality
@@masosomanyasaflavian2705 0 is a whole number and a compound with 2 pi electrons is in fact aromatic

What if the compound is heterocyclic? Should we count lone pairs?
If they are in resonace, then yes. Otherwise, no.
