@@russellargue2721 All iv heard so far is bad news with this slash. It costs a lot of money, and i would have thought Traxxas would want it to run as good as the Mojave 6s and it doesn't from what I have seen.
It is a track star if it is being used for sprinting. This has explosive power off the line and just keeps pulling. Right out of the box, without monkeying with the pinion it is capable of 60 mph+. I do not know too many other rc's with the stock gearing doing 60+ out of the box. Now it could be Traxxas geared it aggressively out of the box which perhaps they did but nonetheless, changing the spur gear to a 46 mm and the same 25 tooth pinion got me 65 mph and honestly, I felt it had more to give but perhaps hit the breaks pre-maturely. Another aspect is that on 4s it is a good deal faster than other 6s vechiles. Mid 40 mph range with the 25t/50mm combo and high 40's with the 25t/46 combo. Most other 6s are in the 35 mph to 40 mph range with the stock gearing. Even with an 18 tooth pinion in the Arrma Talion exb it was only hitting 38 mph. This is a very powerful and fast truck and probably the fastest I have driven in a while.
I'm so glad someone is talking about running the truck out of the box the way it's supposed to be run, everyone is not launching their R/C 30 plus feet off skate ramps, great Maxx Slash talk, I'm A OK with the $699 💯
I am on the fence about whether to get the MAXX, or the Maxx slash. I have now watched multiple video reviews from many creators and from what I have heard is that the main reason the Slash maxx is more expensive is the fact it is ready for 6S. Even though when powered by 6S the truck is so powerful it is not easily drivable. So seems to me a 4S Slash Maxx would be ideal, and keep the price in line with the Maxx. I would probably get both if they were around 500, 700 is too much for a truck that is made for 6S but can't handle 6S.
So I’ve followed you for quite a while now and enjoy your content. But I have to say on this occasion it sounds somewhat as if someone from Traxxas wrote your dialogue for you! You mentioned that there’s lots of TH-cam videos with people extolling the virtues of the slash jumping ability, not parachuting etc! Yes would definitely buy at $569.00. It's a beautiful Hobby but the prices are Rising. Traxxas should look into lowering some of there prices. Keep up the great work that you do with your videos. I really enjoy them.
It flat out rips tho. You can really throw it around. I thought 4S would be good too. Super cool how the tires squeal on pavement 😂
When Traxxas announced the Maxx Slash & I watched the vid, I was like holy s**t. Cus this year was planning to get Losi Bike, but decided to get Maxx Slash this year 😎.
Traxxas really should lower the price too 569.99$ through chrsitmas because kids might want it and parents dont want to spend a thousand dollars on a rc car. Also i have a question. Is their a end date to when the traxxas free batterys and charger savings think end for the traxxas maxx slash becuass i dont want to spend 240$ on a charger and 2 6s lipos
The slash ultimate is just a better vehicle. The Maxx Slash only redeeming thing is it’s tough. It handles awful, it rolls at slow speeds, the front shocks are useless, and there’s no travel, chassis slap at any height jump, the chassis scrapes the ground under braking even with most of the preload dialed in, the front tires are already wearing into the body since they got anytime you’re turning, it parachutes terrible and doesn’t jump well, it doesn’t jump neutral at all, the belted tires are useless on most surfaces, its handling is all over the place. Has worlds of body roll. It needs longer shocks. It has no sway bars. It’s an absolute dog on 4s. Needs to be run on 6s. The stock servo is plastic cased with plastic gears and is slow af. I don’t think you’ve actually driven this thing yet or you’re paid for this. This thing drives like a pig. I’ve run this for the last 5 days and it’s a Maxx disappointment. This thing needs upgrades right out the box just to get it to drive decent. This is overpriced. Get a Mojave 6s. It’s 480$ in Traxxas parts just to get it to have comparable parts that come stock on the Mojave 6s. If I could return my Maxx Slash I would. You need to watch some more videos man. Almost everyone says it drives and handles poorly out the box, unless they got it from Traxxas for free.
You seem like a person with good experience. Your smart. But …This truck is NOT setup for the pro as mentioned in video. It’s for the everyday intermediate consumer. I will make a video this week showing expert setup. And yes a dog on 4s with stock gearing. With aggressive gearing it’s damn fast on 4s. Mojave is good but also suffers from poor suspension setup from factory.
, Every video I watch proves it needs a wide kit. And max sledgehammers tires , I'll be finishing what Traxxas tried to start on this thing , I can't help but wonder if they test drove it before selling it darn thing rolls like a beachball constantly 10243 springs didn't come up for purchase
This is the first positive review I've seen of this truck. Most of the big TH-camrs have universally panned this car. I agree with most of your assessment but I would like to add this is NOT a basher. It's for driving around and having fun. I'm not really interested in getting one because I'm saving my pennies for a Sledge. I'm sure since you are a shop owner you also know that the price will come down. They always set the price high initially for the early adopters. I suspect in a year to 18 months it will settle around $599-649. I can't help feel that this thing is a UDR "lite".
A lot of people reviewing these things on TH-cam like to be people people that make attention grabbing headlines. They also try to look smart. They don’t realize they’re hurting the Hobby. They’re taking the car out of the box and running it like a bunch of wild animals with no thought of tuning it before driving. I’m gonna have to make another video showing everyone had to tune the car out of the box to drive good and explain the virtues of the car as I’m driving it The original UDR was a flop when it was originally released and then it took off about a year later I remember because I was also watching all the people smashing it on the Internet in the reviews because they didn’t understand the car and didn’t understand what they were driving Another car that happened with the funny car. That was so controversial, and had a love-hate audience as well. Right now if you look up what the cost for one of those is on eBay they’re going for over $1000 use the bodies are going for about 3 to 500 depending on the condition. That was a car that everybody supposedly hated. Like I said people on, TH-cam are not experts they’re just people with video cameras, and an opinion. A lot of these people are morons. Not just regular morons, but serious schmucks.
I own the maxx slash and I love the truck(after I put the widemaxx kit on it and changed the springs so the suspension actually will do something) but it has its short comings for sure. You have clearly not driven the Maxx Slash 😂 this is one of those time's the sales pitch isn't gonna go good 😆. It parachutes like any other SCT and will take off at high speeds, body also affects it in the air and nobody has said it fly's good in the air 😆 cuz SCT. The suspension is garbage after a couple of runs the front shocks feel blown out. It lands clunky, doesn't do wheelies hardly at all. The tires are debatable along with the garbage pot metal gears(already toasted the pinion gear mine), nothing new there. The handling is also debatable. Traxxas if you are listening if you were shooting to complete with the Mojave you failed, box stock no way.
@@boduke9428 yeah the pot metal gears are garbage, diff are okay as long as you have the diff aluminum cover's. The Maxx slash is a great truck after some work the tires and suspension kill it.

I see 50-75 cars a month through my Hobbyshop. Weekly failures on Arrma 6s Diffs. Shimming will help not cure. Traxxas MAXX gears are super strong no matter the metal. I base my opinion on actual parts sales and customer feedback. Dw. I’m a huge fan of Arrma.

I disagree. Everything he says is 100% spot on for my experiences with rc vechiles. This information about the springs is an excellent idea. I will be doing that Spring switch. Nice that Traxxas gives the option of both a fast 4s and an even faster 6s. Unlike other 6s vechiles running 4s, this is fast on 4s. Very similar to how many of Team Corally's 6s vechiles fly on 4s. This Maxx/Slash is quite possibly even faster. I own the 6s version but would also buy a 4s version. The Maxx is one of the smoothest driving vechiles on the market. It drives like a sensored motor. Having one that, to complement this one similar to the 6s Mojave and 4s Mojave would be an excllent idea. If the motor and esc work in it as well as they do in the Maxx, in terms of the smoothness and throttle control, you would have something better than the 4s Mojave. The 4s Mojave is a great vechile but it does not offer very good throttle control. It tends to surge at slower to mid range speeds unlike the 6s Mojave which like the Maxx is very smooth. I can't tolerate vechiles that drive like that. I like to rip my vechiles like every one else but I insist they be able to drive smoothly at all speeds. Once you break the new Maxx/Slash in, on 6s it does drive smoothly and even smoother on 4s. If they make a 4s version, I will purchase it.

How is this a “Much better handling car?” Compared to what? A cinder block? Every single video I’ve seen, it rolls super easy! The weak servo has the driver constantly trying to re-trim the steering and the truck will turn on its own. It’s not a basher in any way so trying to jump it is pointless. All Traxxas claims this is a level 6 driver vehicle and it sounds like you’re saying anyone can drive it. Did you pay for this truck or did Traxxas give it to you along with a script on what to say. I noticed there’s no video of you driving the truck for this review and it doesn’t even look like it’s been driven period! Otherwise we’d see where the tires mark the inside of the body where they rub horribly or scratches on it from rolling over! I understand not wanting to lose out on free RC’s but you’re pushing a false narrative to the consumer! At $700 this truck should handle WAY better than a does. Instead you have to put another $200 into it to make it compete with the Original Slash!
Just to make it clear for you and everyone else in here I did not get the car for free. We have over 400 cars in stock and you’re telling me that because I was using a clean car for the video that I didn’t drive it ? I’m gonna post a follow video for everybody to watch, but do me a favor and try to listen to the entire video when I say listen I mean listen to everything. Give me a little bit more credit. I’ve been here for over 20 years. If you look at my videos, I criticize almost every car that I review I’ve never given a false review. When you see the follow up review, you’re gonna understand everything I said, and maybe you’ll take it easy. It doesn’t sound like you drove the car and you’re basing your opinion on other reviews. Did you ever think that people that make negative reviews do that for Clickbait without realizing it? Everybody wants to be a hero and be the first one to point out that something sucks. Trust me, this is amazing.
Arrma gears are better there made of steel not monkey metal but Traxxas is durable but not because it's over built it's durable because the plastics are the best plastics you can buy and it's lighter than Arrma RCs
Your preaching to a person who service rc cars for 25 years. Almost 75 cars pass through my cars a month. The MAXX diffs hold up better than Arrma 6s. Arrma pinions and spurs hold up better than traxxas. These are the facts. The interior spider gears of the diff are the real issue with Arrma. They strip quite easy. The teeth are too small. It’s due for a redesign. There are a constant issue with every 6s.
It drives like a dream.....what?????? Seen countless videos of the car flipping on flat ground at the slightess turn.... and the handling looks horrible compared to the arrma mojave 4s, jumps horribly....geez man! this sounds like a paid advertisement... sorry!
So let’s see. Your gonna base an opinion of an rc car assuming the driver has properly set the car up on other videos ? Let’s say most TH-camrs don’t know what they are doing. In the video, I alluded to the fact that the car out of the box was set up for the intermediate user. Not the seasoned driver. I spoke of replacing the front spring with a 1.4 spring to make drive more neutral and more like a drivers car. Pay attention and try to watch the entire video before commenting.

Yes they do....Item # 6438. Your welcome ......
Spur gear, 44-tooth (machined, hardened steel) (wide face) (1.0 metric pitch)
44-tooth spur gear (1.0 metric pitch) is machined from hardened steel with extra-wide steel teeth for ultimate power handling and durability. Traxxas spur gears let you fine-tune the performance of your Traxxas model. Changing gear ratios can help balance acceleration and top speed for different running conditions. Please consult your owner’s manual for more information on recommended
@usermk7 😂 clueless
Wow. Could it be more obvious. This is nothing more than a paid review.
I'm waiting for the ultimate version, to mush plastic. I don't like
Surprise traxxas still way behind the rest.
🤦
It’s trash drives like a brick and parachutes in the air because of the body deff not worth $700
In my next video I will demonstrate setup. Please stay tuned and keep an open mind

You can fix rc's but you can't fix stupid!
