Been running this rig since release and no issues here. Too many users are over complicating this rig. Just run it for what it is. A SCT. I primarily run it through a short course dirt track and it does just fine. Have upgraded further and it’s beast.

Those have been my thoughts exactly. People that I primarily see complain, are complaining about the disingenuous nature of the promo video (which I understand) and trying to replicate the type of bashing in it. When they know full well that is not what the truck should be good at. I bought it as a SCT and use it as a SCT. And I have been having a great time using it that way. I have a Sledge and Kraton EXB I use for bashing along with a Rlarrlo Omni terminator carbon and a Mojave Grom.

I’m sure there is lemons in every RC brand but Thunder RC ‘s max slash is a monster!

Yea he kills it !! but I think Jason is talking about the way it jumps and handles , not really the toughness of the truck

Jason, I feel your frustration on this rig. With my Mojave and Maxx Slash, they both jump mountains better on 6s than 4. Even running bigger tires. You need that extra power to get it to correct better. The brakes will be better too. I've been in this hobby since 87. These sc trucks are the most inconsistent jumpers (when you send them) of all the trucks IMO. The bodies are terrible for aero and you're always fighting parachuting. Anything above about neck high and it's a gamble. The extra power for me really helps me control and correct much more precisely. Good luck man.

That's what I don't understand though. Why do people not understand that this chassis style is not going to jump great? I just got into the hobby a few months ago. The Maxx Slash was my first truck and I understood before I even put my hands on it that it probably wouldn't jump great. I have real bashers for that now. Long jumps they do well at high jumps are a no go. Just like you should expect.

GPM makes a decent motor mount cover. I had the same issue with the plastic top cover part holding the mesh on my Maxx

Thank you for sharing all the options you added. I was excited for the truck, and then it gave a very average run. Tried the Mojave 4s at the same track, and it is now in my top 3 rigs. It was so much fun. Ill try the 3.8s but in think you are right. The Maxx Slash is just not there as a contendor.

The issue with the mesh is solved upgrading the spur cover to aluminum. I used to have those issues after taking apart the transmission, abnormal noise etc. After changing that cover to aluminum the motor seats way better and doesn’t move during heavy running.
What are you all doing shocks wise ?

I hated my mips 17mm hexs. I finally got the hot racing 0 offset and 10mm offset ones later. 10x better.
One mips nut would always crossthread it drove me wild.

    I’ve completely truggified my MaxxTurdslash.
I can’t say really say anything good about it when it keeps breaking.
Like you said fun if it stays running

🤘Great vid my man! Ya unfortunately it needs an aluminum rear diff case and a wide kit with the metal axles. I ran mine once and sold it. It is a tank but it needs a lot of TLC. I just have too many projects. And as always, stock esc is sluggish and that max 8 is perfect for it. Great improvements Jason! 👊🏆

Your conclusions echo my feelings from what research I have done on the Maxx Slash. I was interested in getting one but once I started watching videos on it after it was released I was under impressed. It looked extremely unstable as well as it looked to have understeer like the Xmaxx and XRT. I don't mind understeer on my big bashers as I don't expect them to handle like a buggy on a track. But with a short course truck you expect some handling and stability. Many have tried different things to improve the platform but in the end it is what it is. I will be placing an order for a Mojave 6S instead. While it isn't perfect (what is?) I feel it is a better platform and looks like a beast and a ton of fun. My only other Arrma is the Kraton 6s EXB and I have been nothing but impressed with it so far. Tough as nails to boot. Oh and not knocking Traxxas as I own 6 of them, 4 crawlers, Xmaxx and XRT.

what type of hubs did you go with? are those extended to fit the 3.8s? I cant seem to find the video where you cover that. I was thinking about going widemaxx arms on mine with some arrma backflip lps that way with the wheel offset it wont be too wide.

I have more money into my Maxx slash than I do in my xmaxx ultimate and it still doesn’t drive well. The rear bulk heads break really easy, the steering is shit. The hub pins constantly pop out, the shocks continually blow apart. I’ve replaced almost every part to upgraded ones or aluminum. New motor, ESC, servo, all new aluminum steering components, aluminum battery holds,(the garage life ones broke almost every run), the body gets beat the F up constantly, the oem belted tires aren’t glued fully and will come apart. This is still one of my favorite rigs, probs cause I’ve done so much to. My Mojave 6s for $499.00 hasn’t had one part replaced and have had both for the same amount of time. The chassis is a lil bent but nothing has broken. The suspension, handling, jumping etc is way better on the Mojave 6s. The Mojave comes with a bunch of aluminum parts right out the box, has better ESC and motor. The traxxas ESC failed within few weeks and traxxas refused to warranty it.
If you buy traxxas you’re on your own if there’s any issues.

That trucks like my xmaxx 8s with a max 5 system it’s just had to much power and just would wheelie constantly and sucked to drive even running 6s on these is to much for the platform especially on stock tires. 4s on stock setup is the sweet spot for fun. The gearing sounded off immediately when you were driving it. Yelling in my head to stop lol.

  • @popcorn8199
    @popcorn8199 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I don't understand how you have all these issues. Mine is bone stock other than shock oil and sway bars and has had zero issues. Beat the heck out of it and it just takes it.

    • @5280Recreation
      @5280Recreation 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

It's just clueless upgrades. Adding a monster motor/ESC combo and gearing but doesn't upgrade to aluminum diffs or motor mount that can handle it? Why? Just driving on flats it is clear there is way too much power. Absolutely nothing wrong with the truck until people start "upgrading" it improperly and then they blame the platform...sigh.

    • @popcorn8199

@chaser1357 vg racing springs and traxxas sway bars kit. Biggest sway bar in the back and smallest in front. Zero issues rolling over.

In my opinion It’s geared to high with the bigger tires on it for air control.

I love my Maxx Slash. I take it to the skate park often, it's in pure stock form, and I've only broken one caster block. I won't dispute the truck does have its issues, but I wouldn't regard it as the worst truck ever built. . .

I have question do you have any old part for a traxxas slash 4x4 it was supposed to be rtr but it literally does not have any electronics no body no nothing I have ptsd and I'm on a fixed income and I saved to get the truck so if you have any old parts that you don't need would greatly be appreciated thank you and have a blessed day

Why haven’t you added sway bars? I added sway bars, front bottom shock mount and 10 mm hex extenders and the car drives like a dream. All 3 mods are all u need

Because my main issue is not handling while ripping around. It's the awful air control the truck has.

On 4s, they are pretty good. I have two of them. They remind me of the old Senton 6s. Too much power, not enough car.

I gave up on my Maxx Slash. Sold it at a big loss. Its just a bad truck. Spent a fortune on parts trying, and it was a total waste of money. I love my Maxx. But the Maxx Slash is a turd.

It definitely looks better and rips better with those tires. Not to tell you what to do, but maybe this rc is more suited to ripping across dirt , fields, small jumps . Stay away from big ramps

As soon as i saw the motor only has one pin i knew thats gonna be an issue why would they go and spoil it at the end. Its obvious it will shift smaller version of xmaxx system was needed and its a fail.
Well better be off back to betty then.

It seems that you have setup this car wrong or your usecase for this car is wrong. Watch this for the right setup: th-cam.com/video/oMJqo-AiCME/w-d-xo.htmlsi=1lAvkCS2g5OiKiYY
The MT 10 is the worst rc car I ever had. I have broken so far: motor shaft, servo, gear box, shafts jumping out, 4x skid plate, 5x spur gear, bumper, bigger screws because the threads of some parts didn't hold anymore. 😮
