In the bulletin episode. Buzz Hickey is watching TV. There's a news ticker at the bottom of the screen that talks about Levar Burton and unknown traveler got held up by pirates
i think the most important moment of the lavaworld episode is when troy asks abed "so the only way i can help you is by giving up my one chance to be my own person?" it makes abed realize how incredibly selfish he's being.
This is the second of three nods to Gary Oldman in Leon: The Professional. The first was Chang in episode 4 - *"EVERYWHERE!"* In this episode Annie says it - *"EVERYTHING!"* There's one more coming...
This is crazy. I haven't seen Leon (on the list to watch) and it was familiar to me but I couldn't figure out where I've heard it. Has it been in anything else?
So the ending with Duncan and the phone call/military strike & the general at the custodian party are connected to Greendale getting raided during the zombie episode!
Kumail Nanjiani's wife, Emily Gordon, helped start Dan Harmon's podcast, Harmontown, and he was a repeat guest on Harmontown The parking guy is Robert Patrick aka the T-1000 from Terminator 2
Dang, the one time I thought I had something semi-obscure worth sharing. But yeah, Kumail Nanjiani had recurrent appearances on Harmontown, the best of which (in my opinion) was a series of episodes where they were playing D&D as part of the show for (IIRC) at least several months.
Paget Brewster -- she played Chandler's actress girlfriend in Friends and was in Criminal Minds. Her best role was in the criminally neglected and gone too soon comedy, Andy Richter Controls the Universe.
The Locker Boys were definitely based on the Lost Boys from Peter Pan. Chang's whole look is taken straight from one of the Lost Boys from the movie Hook, with Robin Williams.
Two amazing episodes, for very different reasons. Abed and especially Troy have felt like this show's beating heart for a long time, so it's incredibly sad to lose one of them. I appreciate how the show validates this emotion while simultaneously lightening the mood through humor. Two quick points (I'm sure others will have more): back in the first season when Abed makes "prophetic" films, Troy sees himself crying in the movie and asks if he'd just listened to "Come Sail Away" by Styx again. The song playing as Troy and Levar Burton depart is Come Sail Away. Also, I'm less sure about the original show from the 60s, but in at least one or two Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes-which featured Levar Burton-they *did* explicitly go to visit a star, not just its planet(s). /pedant
There is a specific type of chemistry with each of the characters and losing Pierce cut away something, but I really like Jonathan Banks as Hickey. Losing Troy is obviously a much more significant change in the show.
Two great episodes. The bulletin board they are replacing was seen falling down in an earlier episode this season. Also, they did actually make an entry in Wikipedia for "Fat Dog", but it has since been deleted (it is there in the edit history).
Let’s enjoy some of that regularly scheduled community! The floor is lava was always gonna be one you lads enjoyed since it’s got the same vibes as paintball lol
There are so many army/secret government references in this show, if you remember from the Halloween Zombie episode in the 2nd season where the Dean asks did you know every student is automatically enrolled into the army reserves, then the secret agency comes to the rescue and now this.. makes you believe that Greendale could be a front for a government operation, and maybe that's why it's such a bad college 😂 Would definitely explain why the janitors are at a mixer with high ranking government officials.
The hot lava episode contains one of my all time fav Britta moments. I laugh every time Britta calls on the chair walkers and then howls 😂 The show borrowed from a lot of post apocalyptic films, but I get a lot of Mad Max Thunderdome vibes. As for Pierce's ultimate demise. Chase was a problem child and then chose not to return. You know that there is no love loss between him and Harmon. But Harmon got the final mic drop moment, as he got to kill off Pierce. I wonder how many scenarios he went through before he arrived at the sufficiently humiliating...."I know, I'll have him die from spanking the monkey too much" 🤣🤣. Yep! That sounds very Pierce.
She went through and hair and costume change within seconds 🤣. We need to watch all the Mad Max's at some point. "I know, I'll have him die from spanking the monkey too much" 🤣

you WHAT?!
Have we lost Troy forever?
@@RamblersInc maybe the movie's about that. abed has trackers!
Nathan Fillion was on the same lot filming Castle but he was a fanboy of Community and kept hanging out on their stage- so they wrote him in.

At least this whole thing taught him to let go.

@@RamblersIncI don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me if it has.
Any time Professor Ian Duncan shows up (the loveable John Oliver) it automatically makes an episode better for me! Really hoping we see him again!

Where is this college situated because it's starting to look a little government op/experiment-ish lol
@@RamblersInc colorado but greendale is home to many odd things 😅

Certainly knew you'd like the Floor is Lava episode, since its basically a riff on the Paintball episodes.
My dude on the right had a great explanation of the episode afterwards
I dunno, Troy and Abed instigated a campus wide Civil war, I feel like I'd know who they were.
About the end-credits bit on ep 6: Colorado is where a lot of US Air Force bases are located, so it's an on point joke.
Ahhhh ok. That was awkward....for a second 😂
Paget Brewster -- she played Chandler's actress girlfriend in Friends and was in Criminal Minds. Her best role was in the criminally neglected and gone too soon comedy, Andy Richter Controls the Universe.
Oh that was way too obvious. Can't believe I missed Kathy from Friends.
The Locker Boys were definitely based on the Lost Boys from Peter Pan. Chang's whole look is taken straight from one of the Lost Boys from the movie Hook, with Robin Williams.
Chang - my same sex celebrity-crush is Nathan Fillion! Nobody has to know... except for the Custodians.
😂
The IT Lady is Paget Brewster, who has, as you say, appeared in load of stuff. She played Joey's girlfriend Ksthy - who Chandler likes - in Friends.
Kaaaathhhyyy. Of course.
ITS A BEAR DANCE!
😱🤣
We gotta bear down on Community reactions
😂🤦♂️ CHAAANNNNNGGG !!!
Annie really fat-dogged that huge custodian who tried to take down the bulletin board.
🤣

I'm still holding out for another paintball episode 🤞
I probably would have broken an ankle if my feet were duct taped to two chairs.
right? 😂
The deaf girl was played by Katie Leclerc, she showed up on a couple episodes of Big Bang Theory, and starred in Switched at Birth.

Sounds like you guys haven't seen Water World, many references in this episode including the title!
Dammit. Another reference missed.

It's the same sound I make when stepping barefoot on Lego 😂
I love the second episode's tag. does it imply greendale is a millitary basis?
Hmm 🤔
