For Incredibles 1 there was a short movie called "Jack-Jack Attack" where Kari recounts his time with the baby (which we partially hear in the phone messages to Helen) and at the end, Rick makes her forget everything.

Whenever I see Bob I’m reminded of a line from the movie RED. When Bruce Willis is getting patched up by Helen Mirren half way through the film, they talk about the old days and how their lives have turned out. She initially says that she enjoys it, but does mention that she takes “the odd contract on the side”. And then she states that “You can’t just flip the switch and be someone else.” And that’s where Bob is having trouble. Mr Incredible wasn’t just WHO he was, but also WHAT he was. He was a hero, he was good at it, and he loved it. And now he’s being told that he has to step back and let someone else, who doesn’t really care about it, be the hero. Not that Helen wasn’t happy being a hero, but she was just as happy NOT being one. Bob HATED not being a hero. It was everything to him and now he’s being told he can’t be one anymore. People who have never had to do that, will never truly understand how difficult it is. They think it’s a simple matter of “Let it go”. But to those who have it’s like having their legs amputated and being told to “Walk it off”. A bit dramatic, I know, but that’s how it can feel. And it can be incredibly annoying when you’re trying to explain why your soul is crushed and no one is seeing it from your perspective.
I don’t disagree that he’s allowed to feel bad about it and want to go back to being a hero. And I do think it’s terrible that he has to stay in that office job for so long. But the movie is only showing parts of their lives and struggles. We don’t know how long it took her to be fine with not being a hero. We don’t know how much work she put into getting a positive mindset. Maybe nothing at all. But he’s just getting started with being a stay at home dad. When I go back to the beginning of their love story, to me, it looks a lot like they’re both very much about this job. Being adaptable to change is something you can learn and practice. Not getting your one big dream is what happens to most people in life. So you get a new dream or realize you romanticized it anyways. And I fully agree, it can be SO TOUGH. But they didn’t show how tough it was for her - because we skipped that part. The fact that while she had a fulfilling home life (and we don’t know how long that took!) and he doesn’t (because it’s only been a minute) doesn’t mean anything to how much they feel the need to be a superhero. If you ever felt like Bob and have to walk away from your chosen job/path, I really hope that it doesn’t lead to (at least) 13 years of not changing anything to feel happy again. That’s incredibly (no pun intended) unhealthy, unhelpful and cruel to yourself.
3:54 “it’s the 21st century!” Many people didn’t realize that the time is set in the 1960s. It was already obvious to me as a child because everything looks old or outdated like my grandma’s stuff. It went over so many people’s heads that in the second one, they made things more obvious, like close ups of the tv remote, where you can only see two switches on it, close ups of the tv itself, having the girls in the beginning wear the poodle skirts, the diner being old fashioned, them “changing” math (caused upheaval in the 60s when they changed the way equations were supposed to be done; parents were stressed tryna help their kids when they didn’t even know how to do it), etc. So when Helen suggested Bob watch the kids and he was against it, it genuinely was coming from a mindset of he’s the male so he needs to be the breadwinner.
Changing math didn't stop with the 1960's. I have a PhD in Physics and I couldn't figure out my son's 4th grade math homework. I could go on a tirade about how poor the statistic are in elementary education research, and how that leads to frequent attempts to completely revamp educational methods in ways that will probably hurt at least as many kids as it will help, but no one wants to read that so I'll refrain.
There is a limit about how far Elastigirl can stretch in the 1st movie while Bob is looking for Elastigirl information on Syndrome's computer up to 300 feet i think
You should watch _Iron Giant_ one of these days. It's one of Brad Bird's earlier films that didn't do well at the box office, but gained a beloved following afterward.
Agreed that they did a good job with Bob. I remember when we went to see this I started worrying it was going to be a typical 'bumbling dad' thing, which is a trope I find extremely tiresome. So I appreciated that while he did start off with some natural jealousy/insecurity, he did ultimately step up and also showed he could hold down the fort, but while not taking away from what Helen was doing. The Screenslaver concept is also quite interesting too.
What made it hard for Bob after Helen’s first mission was that she was celebrated for saving the train, when in the beginning of the first movie, he did the same thing and was ridiculed and sued for it. Both trains are even halfway off the tracks at the same angle. You can see how that can be depressing for him. ALSO! There’s a Pixar Easter 17 years in the making. If you remember in the first Monster’s Inc. movie, the news report was talking about they were “shook like a doll” and “laser beam eyes”. Remember when Jack Jack was teleporting through dimensions? That could’ve been Jack Jack they were talking about in Monster’s Inc and not Boo like we thought.
It's likely just a reference that they made him do _exactly_ that, but in Monsters Inc yeah it was just exaggerating. The propaganda that monster civilization had was that humans are deadly, so when everyone saw Boo they lost their minds and assumed the worst. There was no more destruction than what the monsters did while on crowd panic, but well the crowd panic made someone think a car exploded or sumthin.
The diner scene is probably my favourite scene in the whole movie, I always laugh when she shoots water out of her nose in front of the boy she likes. I think everyone who has been through puberty can remember that feeling and relate.
This movie took a very famous trope, "wife goes to work and finds out husbands job really is too hard, husband stays home and finds out wifes work is too much for him", and does something new. What if wife goes to work and.... she's great at it! Even better than him! And what if dad stays home and turns out.... he's great!!! And relates even better to the kids!". It's a great concept, of both partners respecting each other without needing to elevate or lower any position, but just accept that they're different, and you may like either.
@@bentowle3478 She's been a hero before, he's been working his whole life and hasn't had to be the stay at home before. So it would make sense that the hero that was literally picked for being non destructive did a non destructive job. And it would make sense that he's going to have trouble for like 1 day. That's it, he was "incapable" for just a few days. One could easily say that it's not realistic that he would master parenting like that in a week or two. So if anything it showed that he has the talent for being a great stay at home dad, he just didn't know it.
@@bentowle3478 incapable? Well at first, yes! He was the traditional bread winner for a 1960s family who never had to take care of the kids in a way a housewife would, of course he’d struggle a lot at the beginning. Understanding, connecting, and taking care of kids is a hard task. It made it realistic, as he had no prior experience, struggled but was triumphant in the end. It was great to see was him TRYING and it helped show that parenting or being an in house parent is not an easy task. “Parenting is a heroic act” was an intentional comment made by Edna to show that being a parent is just as hard, heroic, and rewarding as a superhero fighting to save the day.
@@adrainlevy9467 Exactly. This movie did a great show at lifting moms up, look, they had a job and a career before too, and they're good at it. While also lifting dads up too, yeah they worked a lot, and it'd be hard at first, but they can also stand up to the task and excel at it. The movie did an amazing job at showing how powerful and women can be, while still being caring. While also showing that dads can also be caring and devoted. It broke several tropes in an interesting way. Feminist and likes seeing a woman in power? We got it. Tired working dad who wants to see a movie where the guy doesn't fail at everything? We got it. Brother really is a good guy, sister is in STEM and smart, socially awkward female hero still portals her and saves the day, funny muscle guy is friendly, and so on so on. It did a great job at showing us tropes we see so many times, and yet subverting them in creative ways.
Love how much you loved this movie. A lot of people underrate it due to the first one’s nostalgia/excellency. Both are definitely great in their own right
I think the reason this movie isn't as beloved is that it didn’t deliver on the promise of the 1st movie of having the entire family unit fighting crime as a team and settled for a rerun of the first movie but with Elasta Girl as the focus. And of course Syndrome is a far more captivating antagonist.
Also Brad Bird said roughly that he wouldn't make a sequel unless he had the right idea. However, it doesn't come off as well thought out as the first movie.
A small note. Disney does not make "animated kids films" they make family movies. Minions is for kids. Most people at Incredibles 2 were adults. Great reaction. Glad you liked it
What makes the death of the father more heartbreaking, is that the reason the two supers never picked up the phone is because they were victims of Syndromes killer robot in the first movie. They literally couldn't come to his aid because they were already dead (and apparently neither of them had anyone who knew they were missing/deceased). She's blaming the supers for not coming, but in reality, it's Syndome's fault, a villain.
The father was killed when the goverment just had declared supers illegal, many years ago. Back then there was no Syndrome, it was Budy. They didn't show up because they were made illegal just recently and he didn't know. PD: English is not my first language. Sorry for any mispeling.
@@narommalagonmorales2663 No he didn't. Gazerbeam didn't answer the call because it was against the law. Syndrome killed Gazerbeam not long before he found Mr. Incredible.
"It's the 21st Century!" Technically this takes place in the 1960's, so it's the 20th Century. This is also around the time Second Wave Feminism would've taken root. So, Bob's resistance to the idea of Helen getting the spotlight wouldn't be too uncommon for most men like him at the time (even if he is happy for her).
It's not as much Bob not liking the idea of Helen getting the spotlight, as it is Bob wanting to be out there doing hero work. His issue is with himself being unable to be out there. Not that Helen is out there.
And she flew the plane because they decided to cut Snug out of the film. If Snug was kept as the pilot and died, Elastigirl probably wouldn't have been so skilled with the helicopter.
I honestly couldn't wait for you to watch this. I love jack-jack and how his name is a reference to how he's a jack of all trades with powers. Also his giggle or whenever he messes with something its so funny. (Edit) one more thing, no one was close enough to see jack-jack power out in the first one they couldn't tell what was happening.
I was in love with The Incredibles when I was a child. I watched The Incredibles 2 In theaters and I was so happy. It was such a perfect sequel to a movie I’ve rewatched like 10000 times. This one I will be rewatching quite a few times as well and already have.
You should also watch all the incredibles shorts, they are hilarious and awesome as they include the off scene content such as Kari’s experience with Jack Jack as well as what Edna did when she babysat him
11:42 we did. They didnt see all that. Jack was back to normal by the time Helen caught Jack and the baby sitter had her memory wiped before telling anyone.
what about all the messages the babysitter left, "jack jack is fine but theres some really strange stuff happening.." ..or were the superheroes with super senses so overwhelmed yet again they dont ask any logical questions..
@StayFractalesque for no one in the Par family has "super senses" and two do you remember how dash was playing with the window while the car was driving? Helen was trying to listen but but couldn't. "Strange stuff" can mean anything with a baby.
@@FerrumAnulum ..then why does everyone in the audience immediately understand what the babysitter was referencing, but the family of supers, never crosses their mind? ..one would think the first thing the babysitter is talking about it jack jack got his powers
@StayFractalesque you can't make that assumption that "every" audience member knows what's going on from just a few voice mail bits and then lay that assumption onto Helen and Bob.
@FerrumAnulum ..whats the difference between my assumption and yours? ..oh, that the sequel-makers assumed along with your line of thinking? ..theres no reason why the plot of the sequel couldnt have assumed the other direction, and that the entire family saw jak-jak use his powers to escape.. ..youre assuming no-one saw anyrhing, but even the kid on the tricycle could have seen.. look, im just saying, plot contrivances exist, but yall acting like its some grand master plan.. naw

In some of the scenes they had to tone down the flashing lights after it was already in theaters because they were really worried it might cause seizures for people that have photosensitive epilepsy. They even put warnings up at theaters and everything. It was fixed once it went to digital. The trainer in Rocky talked about Rocky is going to eat thunder and crap lightning. Probably a direct reference to that movie. Hopefully The Wild Robot is on your short list of animated films to watch. It replaced Inside Out 2 as my favorite animated movie of 2024.
I remember watching this movie in theaters. It was actually great seeing this superhero family again, minus the fact that it had a major seizure warning.
20:17 I think this is a really great moment to show Violets growth. Her feelings got hurt by everything that happened but she put that aside at this moment to care for her father who needed the support.
I love Edna Mode so much. She gives off this eccentric almost supervillain vibe. Which got me thinking that Edna’s house isn’t made to keep others out but her in. And over the years she’s added design aesthetics to make it her home. A short 30 minute video of E. Mode’s life would be awesome.
You know, I never realized until this video, but this video I heard it INSTANTLY, special agent Rick dicker is played by Johnathan Banks (Mike) from breaking bad and BCS
I still absolutely love the Natalia character. idk why its so funny to me 😆 Also, I love that Jackjack is basically legion from marvel without the severe schizophrenia
13:43 in the last movie we learned she was actually a pilot as well remember? She was the one who flew the plane to the island Also about Jack Jacks powers in the first movie, no one except Syndrome saw that Jack Jack had powers, Bob and Helen couldn't see from the ground, just that something was happening and Syndrome was flying weird, which is when Helen told Bob to throw her
@@tadcooper9733 It's an animated superhero movie so we won't delve into reality too deeply. She's a pilot and for this format that's good enough. You are right, of course, that flying a helicopter is nothing like flying a plane. I've heard flying a helicopter is like trying to balance on the tip of a needle but for the purposes of this movie we just have to accept that if it flies Elastigirl knows how to fly it.
Not only is the actor who plays Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) in this movie, but so is the actor who plays Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks). Banks is the voice actor for Rick Decker.
only (syndrome) incrediboy knew of jack jacks powers... also the kids names are fun nods to their powers: "violet", becomes invisible like ultra violet light, "Dash" can run real fast, "jack jack", has multiple powers like a jack of all trades
Just a little suggestion. You may want to look up the short film, "Jack Jack Attack". It takes place during the first movie. It shows what happened to the baby-sitter while the family was away.
I remember my dad and I watching this movie in theaters for the first time, and the moment that Evelyn Deaver was introduced, he points at her and goes, "yep, that's the villain!" I mean her name is literally Evil Endeavor!
A lot of times, sequels suck because they simply rehash elements from the previous movie. Studio execs often consider regurgitation a winning strategy, which usually results in a collective ‘ho-hum’ from audiences. Making a sequel too soon after the original doesn’t leave a lot of time for writers to come up with a fresh take. IMHO, having a long break between a movie and its sequel provides time for new ideas and perspectives to gestate. It worked for “Blade Runner 2049” and it certainly worked here.
IMPORTANT: There's 2 short films that go along with the movies. 1 called Jack Jack Attack where we see the poor babysitter's experience with Jack-Jack, and another is about Edna watching Jack-Jack while making his suit. I definitely recommend watching them, and maybe putting them up as short reactions.
if the only complaint about the new Fantastic Four movie is that they are copying The Incredibles… i’ll be happy with that criticism because these movies are great. 😀
I think I know where you can deduct points for this movie. The fact that Bob's action sequence got reduced to just stopping the ship and Brad Bird could've given more time with the sequence where the children were fighting their parents before removing their glasses. That would've been an interesting conundrum of fighting your own parents when they are being bad.
Edna allowing JACK JACK to have security clearance in her work place, is MASSIVE. She allowed the most powerful super to have reign over her entire empire ❤
I can see maaaaybe a half point being taken for the concept you said early on "a mysterious corporation asks the hero to save the day and turns out to be the villain" sort of plot. that's not to say I dont think this movie deserves 10/10. cant wait for the 3rd and fourth one!
i kinda hope incredibles 3 has a bit of a time skip, like have jack jack be dash's age now, maybe dash in high school and violet in college. maybe it could focus on them trying to make names for themselves as individual heroes instead of always doing it together
Oh My God!!! Up until @24:35, I thought that furry black thing in the back was a bag of some kind....then it breathed in and out and I was like WAIT, that's Nat's dog!!!???? lol.
28:25 if you pay attention the flare gun's noise is the same noise used in clone wars season 7 and In the bad batch for the clone troopers's DC-17 blaster pistols
I know some people are mad about Bob not being the action star of this movie and mainly just taking care of the kids but for me it was great to see. Edna said “Parenting is a heroic act” and men don’t often get shown as good parents who connect with their kids often, so for me I loved this character decision as like you said it was so wholesome. Yeah he struggled at first but like literally the first night without the wife, he spent all night studying so he can help his son with school and he even developed a strong trusting fun connection with his kids before the climax, that we didn’t even see with elastigirl and the kids in movie 1. Then they showed how great Helen is as action hero (her action scenes were better than most scenes in movie 1 to me) while still staying true to the elastigirl from movie one. It’s such a great movie. I prefer it over the first because it felt more like a family all working together, sacrificing for eachother, and growing closer. So wholesome. Hopefully movie 3 is just as good as the first two
When Jack Jack starts using his power vs. Syndrome, Mrs. Incredible literally says "something's happening, what's happening?" Jack Jack was too high for them to see him transform.
The family actually never saw Jack Jack use his powers at the end of the first movie, because he was so high up in the air with Syndrome

@@Fuzz32 Red was a fun ass movie
That is what Syndrome _knows,_ likely based on max observed or induced from it, we don't know if there'd be more.
Natalie,
We the audience knew Jack Jack had powers. Nobody else could see that he did because they were down on the ground while it was happening
No… it was the monsters overreacting. And either making stuff up for attention or believing their own hoax.
@@fightingfaerie well neither has been confirmed or denied so who knows 😏
Bob's rant, "I eat thunder and crap lightning" is a twist if what Rocky's trainer Mickey says io Rocky.
I just don't see why they need to make bob so incapable
@@Saphthingssubverting lol is this The Last Jedi? Both movies failed big time.
Glad you liked it
Well…not anymore.
Oh danggg
The father was killed when the goverment just had declared supers illegal, many years ago. Back then there was no Syndrome, it was Budy.
They didn't show up because they were made illegal just recently and he didn't know.
PD: English is not my first language. Sorry for any mispeling.
WOAH I never picked up on that!
not really, Syndrome killed them at least 15 years prior to the father's death.
@@narommalagonmorales2663 No he didn't. Gazerbeam didn't answer the call because it was against the law. Syndrome killed Gazerbeam not long before he found Mr. Incredible.
"It's the 21st Century!"
Technically this takes place in the 1960's, so it's the 20th Century.
@@alesztra937 True.
13:43 She flew a plane in the first film too, it also blew up. If we're lucky she'll land one in the next film 🤞
Every pilot will tell you that flying the aircraft is not the difficult part. Landing is the hard bit.
And she flew the plane because they decided to cut Snug out of the film. If Snug was kept as the pilot and died, Elastigirl probably wouldn't have been so skilled with the helicopter.
@@SeanWheeler100 he was going to be her dad and be lost with the plane.
Finally, some appreciation for Incredibles 2! People give this movie a lot of hate sometimes but I really enjoyed it.
The family never saw Jack Jack utilize his powers.
I was in love with The Incredibles when I was a child. I watched The Incredibles 2 In theaters and I was so happy. It was such a perfect sequel to a movie I’ve rewatched like 10000 times. This one I will be rewatching quite a few times as well and already have.
There is a short named "Jack-Jack Attack". This is about Kari's adventures in babysitting in the first movie. You must watch it.
You should also watch all the incredibles shorts, they are hilarious and awesome as they include the off scene content such as Kari’s experience with Jack Jack as well as what Edna did when she babysat him
Really fun sequel to an incredible first movie. I still maintain that these are the best Fantastic Four movies ever made.
I maintain that, too.
If the Marvel FF movie isn’t like this I’ll be disappointed.
A tiny detail: new Elastigirl's suit is not designed by Edna, and only suit that ends up being damaged
This family is truly incredible. It was a great movie with lots of comedy, action and adventure. A good sequel has been made.
Should have watched the first one again for a refresher
@FerrumAnulum ..whats the difference between my assumption and yours? ..oh, that the sequel-makers assumed along with your line of thinking? ..theres no reason why the plot of the sequel couldnt have assumed the other direction, and that the entire family saw jak-jak use his powers to escape.. ..youre assuming no-one saw anyrhing, but even the kid on the tricycle could have seen.. look, im just saying, plot contrivances exist, but yall acting like its some grand master plan.. naw
The timing is amazing, I was literally looking for the Incredibles 2 from your channel but I could only find the first one and decided to watch it. Then I said “hopefully she uploads the second one soon”.
You did it the next day, thank you😀👍🏼
In some of the scenes they had to tone down the flashing lights after it was already in theaters because they were really worried it might cause seizures for people that have photosensitive epilepsy.
"Why would they chamge math!?!?!?" I still have ptsd from my dad "helping" me with math homework....😂
I have it a little bit because my late Father was a genius in Mathematics, Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, Trigonometry. I wish I was like him.
@TimeVextorX my dad was a alcoholic
You know, I never realized until this video, but this video I heard it INSTANTLY, special agent Rick dicker is played by Johnathan Banks (Mike) from breaking bad and BCS
I still absolutely love the Natalia character. idk why its so funny to me 😆
Also, I love that Jackjack is basically legion from marvel without the severe schizophrenia
13:43 in the last movie we learned she was actually a pilot as well remember? She was the one who flew the plane to the island
Also about Jack Jacks powers in the first movie, no one except Syndrome saw that Jack Jack had powers, Bob and Helen couldn't see from the ground, just that something was happening and Syndrome was flying weird, which is when Helen told Bob to throw her
And Kari
Piloting a plane is absolutely nothing like flying a chopper so its fair to be surprised.
@@Lloyd00 Poor girl had a mental breakdown
@@tadcooper9733 True but then again, we already know that she has flight experience and has a variety of skills so…
@@tadcooper9733 It's an animated superhero movie so we won't delve into reality too deeply.
Thanks Pixar for giving the people what they want, after all those years simping for Elastigirl again.😝
Thick thigh save life. 🤣
i love how animated violet is
when a younger character is allowed to be super emotive and gross and weird and angst its soooo funny
Yess, I've been waiting for thisss
11:36 only Syndrome and the babysitter witness Jack-Jack's powers.
Only the villain Syndrome sees Jack Jack's powers. The family doesn't find out until this movie :)
Also because Violet was insecure she could also be coded a Shrinking Violet an old term for a girl or woman who was shy, unconfident or self effacing.
Good sequel but the first is still the best. Its message and plot was top tier
It was just so much fun seeing how much you enjoyed the film.
😊
"Eat thunder and crap lightning" is a Rocky reference. And Bob using it while he's having a nervous breakdown is a great comedic choice.
He said the C-word in a Pixar movie?
your fridge scene was HILARIOUS! 🤣 WONDERFUL, FUN reaction, thank you! 👍☺
if the only complaint about the new Fantastic Four movie is that they are copying The Incredibles… i’ll be happy with that criticism because these movies are great.
Bruh WE SAW JACK JACK WITH POWERS, not them. They clearly indicated the family couldnt see what was happening.
You’re the only content creator whose sponsor I watch because you’re so funny 😅

😂I don't know why but you are one of the only ones who makes listening to the sponsors interesting and even fun.😂
I appreciate that your appreciation helped me see this movie in a new light. Kudos, and you have my thanks.
One of the most mind-blowing thing about the movie is the foreshadowing with Evelyn's name : Evelin Deavor is actually Evil Endeavor
Jak Jak vs the raccoon is one of the greatest superhero fights ever.
Shoutout the absolute supreme friendship mr incredible has with frozone that Lucious voice has the same priority for the car as his own.
There's a lot of people who hate this movie for some weird reason. I'm SO glad you enjoyed it! I love it as much as the first!
i don't know if its just me but your intro music is so iconic to me, that i keep coming back to your videos only because of it lmao
For me, this movie is all about Jack Jack and Edna. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 So many great moments.
I just came across your channel for the first time. You’re great at this🙌🏽💪🏽💪🏽
If you want a great sequel…..I would introduce you to Paddington Bear
The Elasticycle chasing the train sequence is right there with any motorcycle scene in film history.
Not lady lover Natalie jumping out almost IMMEDIATELY for Mrs. Incredible 😂😂😂😂😂
i kinda hope incredibles 3 has a bit of a time skip, like have jack jack be dash's age now, maybe dash in high school and violet in college. maybe it could focus on them trying to make names for themselves as individual heroes instead of always doing it together
Oh My God!!! Up until @24:35, I thought that furry black thing in the back was a bag of some kind....then it breathed in and out and I was like WAIT, that's Nat's dog!!!???? lol.

You are so lucky to watch the second one so soon after the first we had to wait 14 years

A lot of people didn’t like this one, including me, but I’m glad that you enjoyed it so much. Makes me reconsider my thoughts a bit.

Hopefully movie 3 is just as good as the first two
You should definitely watch Smile so that you’re ready to watch Smile 2 when it comes out in HD
We waited 14 years for a sequel and it was worth the wait.
When Jack Jack starts using his power vs. Syndrome, Mrs. Incredible literally says "something's happening, what's happening?" Jack Jack was too high for them to see him transform.
Now this one was more of a THRILL than the first was! Now I'm hoping they'll make a third someday.
While I personally don’t like this movie as a whole, I DO like parts of it in isolation. For instance, Edna’s interaction with Jack Jack is life.😊
