    Hey man, I just wanted to give you a huge THANK YOU for putting out this video. You saved me a lot of money and time with your detailed instructions. I didn't have a ratchet small enough to get to that back bolt, so I removed the plastic pieces around the cabin air filter and got the room I needed. Being completely inexperienced with car repair, I managed to replace the coil and plug that was misfiring and put it all back together in about 2 hours. Thanks again!

    I have a 2009 CTS with 3.6 direct injection. The car has 70,000 miles on it. It had code PO302. Number 2 cylinder misfire. I ordered a coil pack from Summit Racing. They had the cheapest price, it was 40.00. I went to Oriley auto parts to get some NGK Plugs. I also picked up intake manifold gaskets, thinking I had to remove the intake. Not the case with the 2009. You can get to the coil packs without touching the intake. The Intake is narrower than older models, so you can get to everything. I was inspecting the coil packs as I pulled them. One coil pack had a grey burn spot on it. It looked like spark was jumping from the coil pack. Sure enough, that was the problem. I replaced the plugs, and one new coil pack, cleared the codes. The car runs like a rocket. Look for burn spots on the coil packs.

    I just changed all 6 Coil packs and plugs, on on my 2008 CTS 3.6DI, didnt need to pull upper Plenum, sweet !!!! Had a #4 showing a Po304 code, so figured with 66K on it, might as well change everything, and save the other 5 coil packs for later should I need one. The plugs all looked pretty good, even brown color, and no oil fouling or carbon build up. I do run 93 religiously, as welll as Mobil 1 5w30, but only change oil about once a year as its Garage kept, and driven on weekends, and vacations we dont fly on. She My RedRocket

    Being that I was a Mr.Goodwrench back in the 80's I would have put anti-seize on the spark plug threads. For the next guy that has to remove and replace the plugs!

      He's prob using acdelco plugs if he knows what's good for em...but if they used Bosch plugs then they actually recommend not using anti seize...fucken germans

    • @bryancortes9083
      @bryancortes9083 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Things are different now. Have to be careful what you do with each manufacturer. I never put anti-seize on plugs when working for VW, Audi and Porsche. Plus you have to take into account the type of metal used. Aluminum heads might not be pure aluminum. There can be other alloys in there as well. Research research.

      @tap6354 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tristan Rodriguez nah, educate yourself. Clearly you’re a back yard mechanic and don’t actually wrench professionally. If you do, I’m sure comebacks are dime a dozen. There specifications for a reason, and if you torque ANY spark plug to spec, besides triton fords, and change then on time, there should be no issue or need for antiseize. Even triton fords, if you follow procedure, can be removed with little to no issue.

    Can you please tell me where the fuel pump/tank is located in a Cadillac CTS 3.6L 2007? My brother accidentally put diesel in it and we're trying to fix it.

    • @fixingcarsandstuff
      @fixingcarsandstuff  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lexi Morgan Sorry that happened, is it full? From what I read, this fuel tank is kind of divided into two sections, with two fuel pumps. Cadillac says in the manual to drain the tank, they just siphon the fuel from where you put the fuel in, using a long hose.
      But they say that even after getting the fuel out that way, on that side, there may be another 7 gallons in the other section of the fuel tank. Unfortunately I think the best way is to drop the fuel tank out of the car and get it out that way, 2nd best way is to dis-connect fuel hose/line somewhere, (fuel filter?) and somehow get the fuel pump to run, to make it pump out all the diesel.
      May need to keep battery charged and not sure if diesel will do any damage to fuel pump. do not think so, but... best of luck.

    • @ConfessionsOfAChristianGirl

      Thank you so much for your speedy reply! We'll be taking your advice into consideration. He drove about 30feet after putting in diesel then that's when the car completely stopped. He put in 8 gallons of diesel (which he thought was gas at the time). We just had the car towed back to our home. Thank you again!

    Question. My '08 G6 GXP has 3.6L LY7. Same engine not DI. I've replaced spark plugs and coil packs but cyl #1 spark plug had some slight oil on it. The tube didn't have any oil build up really except for what may have dripped off the plug upon removal. Drove maybe 10k and checked plugs for improper wear. Now it's completely drenched dripping oil and causes misfire upon starting after sitting a couple days until it burns it all off. The other plugs are dry like normal. What could be the concern? Car has 160k miles, timing chain overhaul w/ revisions, and PVC system was replaced with revised GM parts. Only mods are a cold air intake and tb spacer. From the small amount of info available about this concern says plug tube seal is failing or valve cover or intake gasket failing. My first and worst assumption was bad piston rings and or valve seals. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks

    • @fixingcarsandstuff
      @fixingcarsandstuff  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is the coil boot wet with oil at all? I would check the hole before taking the plug out to see if oil is just in the hole. If the hole is getting full of oil, I would just think that doing the valve cover and spark plug tube seals should take care of it. Best of luck.

    • @sharpie0226
      @sharpie0226 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Before I took the spark plug out, there has always been, since before I did tune up, a small amount of oil not enough to soak the boot on the coil. Only after I took the plug out, from the threads to the electrode was drenched. Literally dripping. This after parked for 2 days. Cleaned the plug and reinstalled. Misfires after sitting for a couple days. Driving it every day tho it doesn't misfires. If it's an internal concern then I would expect with 160k miles to burn some oil but not this excessively. Thanks

      after i switched out #5 , the enigne light stayed on but then the engine light on code read that #3 was misfiring,,,note,,,if I ran the AC it misfired so bad, you could hardly drive it,, in fact would not run AC till i fixed it,,, I bought all new coils for rockauto.com..like $40 a piece . new iridium plugs, air filter and exhaust was broke where it joined that dual inlet, dual outlet muffler in center ,,i had two smaller muffler mig welded in n have dual exhaust straight on back now. When i went to have it inspected it did not pass emissions because car needs to run without disconnecting battery which is what i did to reset engine light off,,,but i knew car was ok,, could tell by how it was runnin, so i have 200 miles with engine light off,,,and will try for sticker next week ,,should be good,, then need to fix passenger seat as does not move, ,despite all the work i had to do,, i still love the car, n hppy i bought it,,,needed like 700 in parts n my labor ,,but its the most option loaded CTS you can order , short of the corvette engined CTS V
      good luck..i would go with all new coils ,,wish i them all first time, n new plugs n bet you are fine then
