Looking forward to this series! Glad you have John participating, he’s an encyclopedia of Rubicon history. Wish you would have mentioned Alligator pit, and how the trail had been moved to avoid that marshy area. I think it’s important to highlight things that have changed to minimize user impact and manage this valuable resource.

Looking forward to this series. Hope you talk about parts of the old trail and some of the sights you can hike to. Snail trail 4x4 podcast covered the trail and it was awesome

We actually filmed 2 episodes on the Wentworth Springs side before the snow came....the original Wentworth Springs hotel and a part of the trail hardly anyone knows....Ambulance Hill.

I made it through there on 31s with a 4” lift grand Cherokee around new years. We made it to the first pull off on the left. I didn’t want to get the family stranded so we hung for a little and had lunch and went back to the camper. Will be back with someone and spare parts shortly

Are you going with bigger tires this time?

@@RubiconTrailFoundation no. Driver skill over big tires. Firm believer of make wheeling hard again. Dont need big tires to get there.

I feel like the gatekeeper is fairly easy compared to some of the other parts of the trail.

100%. But it definitely gives Mall crawlers pause. I came out last summer and there was a new Jeep...I'm coming out and see him backing up and turning around. Sure enough, he saw it in his stock Jeep and made a good decision.

Ive seen stockers turn around, which is probably for the best. It at least gives someone an idea of what the trail is like, and if it only gets harder from there, they know to turn around
