The Cost Of 20,000 Miles In The Porsche 991 GT3!

  • This is my Porsche 911 991 GT3 manual! A car I bought with a very long term view to the ownership - to enjoy across track days, road trips and daily driving. I'm just over 20,000 miles in now and it's about to have its next major service - so what have the costs been so far?

Supercar ownership as it should be: driving the wheels off it at every occasion AND on track, without constantly fretting over values and finance

@@simon8089 No 911 is really a supercar and that's precisely why I love them so much! I mean maybe the RSes, but as far as I'm concerned 911s are sportscars, not supercars. The Carrera GT is a supercar, the 918 is a hypercar, but the 911 is a sportscar to me. I've never fancied a supercar for myself, I admire them and drool over their looks and stats and sounds, but I would probably not own one, I'll definitely own and drive a 911! In fact, I'm kind of half seriously looking for a a GT3 Touring atm. Let me know if u know someone that wants to sell...

@@zishansyed8905why CGT and 918 are not in the same league? I thought 918 replaced the CGT. And never understood hyper/super car difference.

I don’t really get the premise....why daily drive a special car? Wouldn’t it be advisable to preserve a car you love for a longer period of time? I certainly get that it’s silly to be so precious with a car that you don’t enjoy it.....but it would seem like you’ve overcorrected. Sometimes you just clock miles in traffic.....why not use a more pedestrian car for those circumstances?

I'd like to see a proper breakdown of the costs. These cars have pretty high running costs, if you want to enjoy them.
General wear on consumables is one thing; tyres, brake pads, fuel, servicing.
What about the track day insurance costs, road tax, road insurance.
From my estimates, its about £10k to do 10,000 miles, with three track days; excluding depreciation.

Well done. Too few enjoyed as they should be. Exhaust corrosion has hounded Porsche 911 models for many a generation. Sticking valves on the sports exhausts also common sadly, but generally no car I've owned wears hard miles with less agro than a Porsche.
Try that 20k mile year with 12 track days in an RS6 and you'd be 5x that running cost

Slow to the video. But, in the US, the light sometimes stays on, when the brake fluid is low. And it would make sense, seeing as how it’s being tracked. Hard to believe that you’re not changing the brake fluid, more often. Most people I know, change it before track days, almost every track day. Brake fluid boils and loses its effectiveness.

Major service shouldn't be too bad £1350-1500 for service + bfc
Ceramic discs will be around £15000 but as they are meant to last the 'life of the car' its not too bad but as you have been on track use its definitely worth it.
    But nevertheless amazing car!

If you can’t put it on a lift for fluid changes and MPI every 5k miles, you can’t afford a German luxury/sports car. It’s a high precision instrument. This is not hyperbole.

Beautiful car; so much better looking inside and out than the 992 (especially inside. I hate the 992’s interior). But 1800 quid to swap pads!?

You have meationed those shims a couple of times. Are these just for any manual operated seats. Looking at trying to get a bit of tilt on my Aston GT8 seats. Could you forward details of supplier. 👍

£1800 for new pads, and they scored your disks?!? Actually, that's more of a gouge than a score. I'd be pissed.

I laughed at you dodging the cost of replacing the astronomically expensive carbon ceramic discs. 😂

Love the content. Keep up the excellent work. Saw GT3, clicked immediately.
Question: @ 3:48 Where to get the seat custom bracket and how to install? Any links to it?

You can wash the wheel and then using a heat gun and a soft brush restore it back to soft and fluffy. I’ve done this on my two cars.

Funny how you reference Chalk looking like primer - I've just had my S15 resprayed in Chalk and one person has already mistaken it for the primer before the actual colour coat. Haha
