The Best Bang for Your Buck 2013 Porsche 911 GT3 / Buyers Guide

- n this video, I’m looking at the Porsche 911 GT3 specifically the 991.1 GT3. The first Porsche GT Car to come with Rear-Wheel-Steering, the first Porsche to come with a Direct Fuel Injected Flat-6 Motor and controversially - the first to come with a PDK gearbox with no manual option.
With the current car market at an all time high especially with GT3’s. Could be this be the one to have for the same money as a brand new 718 Cayman GT4?

sid most underrated car reviewer
Agreed
Agreed, would need to upload more frequently to get the credit he deserves.
Facts
Sid you are the man and actually have got me so excited to pick my gt3 up this weekend.. and according to you the perfect spec. Mine has
PCCB
Clubsport pack ( roll cage + carbon bucket seats)
Nose lift
Keep up the good work!
Would love to own a Porsche some day. Always rated the focus on driver experience
Pleased to be watching your videos again. Most enjoyable TH-camr to watch. So refreshing to watch, rather than others which are wrapping their cars, dynos and exhausts and flipping cars every month.
Keep it up!
Love your content mate it’s top top tier. Only a matter of time before you’re alongside the best automotive TH-camrs. Keep it up brother!
Great video. I totally agree with you re value for money. At the moment, with the price so reachable, it's a damn good deal. I'm not so concerned anymore about the fact that it's not manual because the PDK is a fantastic transmission. Automatic transmissions are no longer the same as before. But the only thing I'm still concerned about is the E (or F) engine in this 2013 model is now 11 years old - how reliable will it be after the 10 yr warranty expires.
Brilliant video Sid. And well said re price difference between a .1 and .2
Pound for pound, there’s not much difference
You didn't discuss the E,F and G engines so it's half baked review
Mr North... ALLLL GT3's are Fuel Injected sir! 997 & 996 were Mezger lumps (not DFI) but all have Fuel Injection. ;-) #1.53 mins
something mustve happened to my youtube account cuz this is the first video i get recommended from you in like over 1 year and i only now realise how much i missed your style of presenting, talking, making videos and especially driving. hope ure doin alright mate and i am glad i rediscovered ur clips. keep up the astonishing work u do. cheers
Same here
Hi Sid, great review thanks.
I m curious what you think about the 991 GTS if you have driven one? RWD or AWD. Thanks
Insightful review Sid. Cheers!
I've not long bought one and loving it. I was originally after a club sport spec but after having test driven three I finally opted for a comfort spec one. The reason being I have young kids who love to come along for a b road blast (child seats fit better in the 18 way seats) and the comfort spec one was in much better condition than the the two newer club sport specs - I think due to lack of tracking!! :)
I also opted for the gen 1, but make no mistake the gen 2 car is a better car but could not justify paying £40k more for something that is maybe 5% better!
I also had a 981 GT4, I have to say that pound for pound for b roads that is probably the better car, that said I would not swap back but the GT4 was a fantastic road car!
Mega video mate, and mega car! Hopefully see you soon
2013 versions of this are 100k £. Bung for buck deez nutz boi
Unless I was using it on track I would go for a turbo
At 110-115k (they've gone up a lot, used to be 90k+) a 458 should perhaps be considered.
458 over 200k bud lol
@@ks3788 That's incorrect. Have a look
@@davidmillion9811 where am I looking ?
Great vid! 996 and 997 GT3’s were fuel injected FYI.
Lovely video as always mate👍🏻
If u track a car a lot actually steelies are better to lower cost. There are ppl with 911 gt2 rs on nurburgring that switch to steels to lower cost. If u run for time PCCB are the way to go then
I do miss the old NA 3.8 GT3 and how the GT3 RS 991.1 I think it made each one that much more unique
He needs to replace Freddie from top gear 🤙🏾
You mean Paddy!
Both.
Sid we love your work, but PLEASE don't shut a frameless door by grabbing the window glass! Hand on the door body mate! :-)
I immediately noticed this too!
I been waiting for this one sid sick review 👌🏽
This or a RWS R8???
The 991 Gen 2 GT3 has the motorsport engine straight from the cup cars, no valvetrain problem. The 10 year warranty is helpful but will be running out soon in 2023. That was the reason I bough a 997 GT3 gen2 , the price was slightly cheaper but has now surpassed the 991 .1 GT3 and it’s a manual. You can not replace the feeling of joy when you drive it right. 991.2 GT3 in manual/pdk will be the one to go for. Great video btw always a pleasure to watch👍
Would you buy that 997.2 gt3 again or 991.2 if you could now?
Mine is a 2015 with F-engine. Porsche approved guarantee possible until 15 years of age, i.e. mid 2030 for mine. I don’t worry a bit. The rear wheel steering is also a watch out on any GT3. Some exceed tolerance play after 20.000km already.
Sideways Sid never disappoints! Cheers!
Lucky enough to be taking delivery of my first Porsche next week - Sid, I’d love to see a video and your opinion on the 4.0 GTS! Decided on that over the GT4 in the end
I've had my 4.0 GTS in manual for a year now, fantastic car - you'll love it.
@@nickparsons5369 Always been a Beamer and Audi guy. Second I pulled off on the test drive I knew I’d entered a different league.
Might want to get onto a first name basis with the Shell garage staff by the sounds of it 🤣
I absolutely will never have the cash for this. I don’t do loans so how do young folk manage to afford something like this??
I’ve got a good graduate job and there’s just no chance of affording this.
Maybe I’m a minority, I don’t know
Awesome review, just a little tip try bumping down the ISO/exposure on your camera if you want the clips to look a bit less white and washed out
Will cost a fortune with all the adviseries porsche will recommend when in for its first service 🤦🏻♂️
Awesome content Sid. That outro was screaming for some slomo B-Roll, but awesome. Truly a young Chris Harris.
@Sid North Do you still have the M5?
The M5 went a while ago :(
@@SidNorth It would of been nice to see more videos of it.
I still love your new vids doe
Iinteresting what you say about the long gearing and that it's usually frowned upon, but it does allow you to drop gears more easily and put you in the high rev range instantly. My 981 Cayman GTS is like that too, if you're giving it some around B roads, you end up moving up and down between gears 1-3 but my god does it sound glorious. It's also interesting about how much people talk about the high 9000 RPM when it's actually pretty hard to get to on public roads. Of course, it still sounds insane!
I think you should just post vids of you whippin cars, this review stuff not working out
Sid North is not the most underrated car reviewer, he owns this game but needs to commit to upload more contents frequently. As prolific as ever, however I do hope for more consistency. Excellent driver and eloquent communicator!
Surely this car was the first direct injection engine, they have had fuel injection for decades.
this or a 570s, I'd love to see a comparison at this 100k price bracket
Only a matter of time before you hit six figure subs. Keep it up mate 👊
Fantastic video…these were a phenomenal bargain when they dropped to mid 80s just a few years back
Haha non fuel injected? Working with carburetors? They did not have direct fuel injection (DFI)…
I know I know! 😅🤦🏽♂️
Depends on how much Buck you got. :)
You have such a loyal following because your content is always amazing.
GTfree
Ooh this is a nice series Sid looking forward to see what other cars you will cover
Please 🙏 set that comparison up
Also, didn’t the 997.2 do away with the Metzger engine? Great review, by the way.
No. 996.1 to 997.2 4.0 all had Mezger in the GT products, and the Turbo from 996.1 to 997.1
Anyone spot the GR Yaris at 8:47
your the best Sid.keep them coming.
Great once again Sid. Subscribed.
Is this sold as I can’t see it on their website
Excellent review as always all the important details covered
i hope i can own one one day
Sid is the man, strictly sideways
Manual 991.2 GT3 or a 997.2 GT3 RS?
Brilliant review dude 👍🏼❤️
If I had that money I'd be stressing over this beauty or an FF.
Great work 👌🤙
Had this exact dilemma a few month ago. Picked the FF, now looking for a GT3…
Two totally different cars. I though the focus of the GT3 would compromise the daily experience but I miss the nimbleness of a 911. Despite the V12, the FF is too much of a compromise for me who drives mountain passes a lot.
In conclusion, it is a sport car vs a GT car and if you like sport more than comfort (and you don’t need back seats!! Very important) I would say go the GT3 route. 997.2 if you can ;)
Enjoyed the video, very informative!
What about the engine issue with them
Tires look a bit bald.
Best reviewer on you tube 👍
Great review, informative keep it up.
Great review.
Excellent review
Good review sid.
