Rurouni Kenshin is a 2012 Japanese film adaptation of Rurouni Kenshin based on Nobuhiro Watsuki's popular manga of the same name. Directed by Keishi Ōtomo, the film stars Takeru Sato and Emi Takei. The film focuses on fictional events that take place during the early Meiji period in Japan, telling the story of a wanderer named Himura Kenshin, formerly known as the assassin "Hitokiri Battōsai". After participating in the Bakumatsu war, Kenshin wanders the countryside of Japan offering protection and aid to those in need as atonement for the murders he once committed as an assassin.

At 51 years old, I have just discovered Rurouri Kenshin. Cinema at its best! The acting, the action...all of it mesmerising. It'll be hard for Hollywood movies to beat this. The soundtrack is on point!

When Battosai left the burning house with death Tomoe inside it, then he walk away the song started, feel the goosebumps, best scene over the series
And then the focus on the sword at the end, then it goes black and says it was 10 years before he reappeared.
Oh hell yes, I replayed those last few minutes a good dozen times.
Just wish they had continued with this this tune after that last part.

Everytime I listen it, I close my eyes and imagine myself as Battousai in the middle of the fight. I also loved the scene which he's walking away and the house is burning with Tomoe's body inside it...OH MY, I just love this song!!
Probably the best adapted anime of all. The Japanese know their stuff. This movie series truly shows it.

The Beginning was the best way to finalize this fantastic series.
The same feeling happened to me with both scenes (from the beginning and the scene between kenshin and his teacher in the beach..They all gave me goosebumps. Just a spectacular utilization of the music
And the in crescendo while he turns Down his sword on the battlefield and the shot only shows the sword and the final words in screen.
After watching the beginning, I suggest you to rewatch the other episodes. You will feel different.

my experience with these movies got a bit muddled because i hadn't watched the anime or anything like thagt and I saw the beggining before the others and i didnt really get caught in what the movies were actually about until the very end.
Sato Takeru they choosed the right actor. Takeru didn't disappoint. He's legend.

These movies are a masterpiece in my opinion. The main character has a good development and really looks like an anime movie.

the 1st movie could've been way better if they introduced the members of the Oniwabanshu, instead they created some random cunts to serve Kanryu, and that 'Hannya'... damn, it was worst than DBEvolution's Goku.
Everything else was amazing, but i did hope to see Anji and the rest of the Juppongatana, including the fight between Hiko and Fuji, but meh.

Best use of this song was at the end of Kyoto Inferno, Kenshin is at his lowest point, only to be picked up by the one man who can restore his confidence, and give him the strength to finish the fight...his master and father figure, Hiko Seijuro the XIII.
Then you suddenly realise that Hiko Seijuro could have defeated every single Juppongatana member, including Shishio, without even breaking a sweat.

Every time this song comes up in a scene, I get goosebumps. Kenshin's Sword fighting scenes are phenomenal, its like watching Toshiro Mifune movies. I listen to this song every morning as I start working. It gives me the boost I need 👍

I love this song. This, along with Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist, is sheer, solid proof that anime can work in live-action.
There is a distinctive difference between a live-action adaptation that's actually meant to represent its particular property (e.g.: Kenshin movie and Assassin's Fist) and a half-assed script with a popular property slapped onto it to make a quick buck (e.g.: Van Damme's Street Fighter, Dragonball Evolution, almost anything Michael Bay puts his name on these days), and we need /way/ more of the former.

Sorry I’m not a live action person when it comes to anime.... I just can’t seem to mix them together how much u look at it...
Animations doesn’t fit live.... animation is too beautiful to match live.... and live was s big disappointment a big no-no.... don’t get dishearted that’s just my opinion though. I don’t know about others reason, but that’s just me.... I believe that this person does plays a wonderful kenshin portray but to me live actor can never be the same as the anime. No matter who plays it...

I came to like Naoki Sato's works after listening to this song and the opening OST of the period drama, Ryomaden (where half of Ruroken's main cast were also casted). Both are equally epic!
Ryomaden has 3 things in common with Rurouni kenshin, the director, the actor and the music composer, maybe more that I dong know of.

Just a week ago, I watched Accented Cinema's brilliant video essay on the first three films. Coincidentally, just a couple or so days ago, Netflix released all three and their exclusive final film centring around the Trust and Betrayal story in South Africa.
I finished all four films early this morning. It was amazing.
There's another one coming next month, which is the live adaptation of Trust and Betrayal.

When I was little, a Greek channel showed the animé on TV. After so many years, I noticed on netflix that there are also movies by animé Ruruni Kenshin. I did not miss an opportunity and saw them all in one night. All this adventure, the agony, the emotion will be unforgettable. I was listening to the song and I had goosebumps. The best animated film series.
