I worked there from 1997 to 2004, I’m responsible for that horrible logo redo. Sorry about that. I was there through the licensing process and even remember the day Derick had his picture taken in the studio. I enjoyed my late night chats in presentation with Tamara when she dropped the Tamara Tonight Show off. Had a lot of good times. I left and worked for Southern Cross Ten for 16 years and now I do archival work for a private company. All because of Briz 31.
COOL mate! - Awesome memories of the station, and shows. It always reminded me (A LOT) of my Qld College of Art days, and some of the whacky productions we made! I remember seeing the first amateur radio guys playing with the frequency, before it eventually evolved into Briz 31. I actually have some tapes within arms reach of my office desk here, with some of the shows I was in ('Car Seen' was one of them), and I remember how nice it was of the producers of that, bringing a copy over to my place. I also sat in the audience at west end for the taping of, what I'm glad you mentioned 'Tamara tonight'; one of my ex girlfriends and I were big fans - 'Tamaras' 'alter-ego' (Rod) and I, had many phone conversations back in the day...Although I'm straight; it was very interesting to hear all of the things he told me about - I actually ended up doing his website for some time: I still laugh at getting a cheque in the mail from his business 'Dial a drag queen productions', then the embarrassment of having to BANK it! LOL
Great memories and a well put together piece IBIS. Loved crazy crosswords, me like most guys in Brisbane had a crush on Megan Sumner. RIP Jonathan Atherton, was a bit of a shock when I heard of his passing.
Great memories back when it was in the massive Montague Road building. Will never forget working with Garry in the Advertising and Sponsorship Office raising plenty of dollars for the station and getting congratulated by a great mentor in Ric Adams for doing such a great job in raising plenty of sponsorship dollars. Really miss those days...
@@krisranderson3075 if memory serves me right, I think he was really into home brew, but no he never tried to sell me any. I just remember the comb over slicked back and enjoying his smokes. The memory is a bit fuzzy but a lot of us remember a girl named Trish that liked to make out with all the boys hahaha
Frank Canan helped me put together a one off show called the Classic Car show which aired on Bris31. Also of note was Frank Canan's offsider, John Rooth, who went on to mainstream TV with his old FJ45 Landcruiser, which Annaconda has replicas of in their store.
Great video! But what about the lady with pink hair who did the music show?! Had a chat with her at Festival Hall after the legendary Regurgitator/TISM/Fauves gig in '95.
@@IBISChannel32 oof, hard to remember... She also interviewed local business people, including two young ladies who had opened a chic second hand store somewhere near the city ...it was so cringe because pink hair lady (who also usually wore a big black jacket, and was trying to be professional) was asking questions about their business and they were just saying "yeah", "That's right" and "uh-huh". That's what they call DEAD AIR, people!
I liked the music show they ran on Saturday nights circa 2002. It was sort of like Pop Up Video, where they would run slightly older music videos and have a bit of trivia about the artist. This was good if you were into older music, because this was well pre-youtube, and your only other options were top 40 slop like Video Hits and Rage - I know Rage makes time to play oldies these days, but at that time they didn't.
I still occasionally quote Tamara at work by saying “We must smack that naughty clock that says it’s time to go!”. I’m pretty sure she stole that one off John Michael-Howson.
The lowest point of the station would have to have been in the mid-2000s when all they ran for what seemed like 24/7 was that still ad for Naughty But Nice.
@@aussiejubes LOL well that reminds me that they did used to run an antiquated promo jingle for Albion Park raceway. "We're going out to Albion Park!" They would run a lot of old ads that hadn't run on the major networks for years.

You ran the broadcast like a pro and were a champion, good times man.
Cheers for the memories dude from the guy with the beard from BriZ31, I was there for 16 years and loved every minute of it.
My pleasure!
I worked at Briz for around 10 years, starting as a volunteer in 1996, I also co-hosted the movie review show.
Broadcast Ivan?
Crazy crosswords was the funniest show ever. RIP Jonathan Atherton, what a legend he was. Thanks so much for putting this together. Really enjoyed it.
Used to love Bris 31

I miss Community TV here in Sydney. When I heard Malcolm Turdbull announcing he was shutting it down, I was pissed. I hope it comes back.
This is what TH-cam was built for! Thank you
Awesome mate, i watched bris31 all the time, loved the home butchery show and the drag queen show, geat vid, look forward to part 2.
