Aussie world deserved a passing mention, still running, was an interesting choice for a holiday from Brisbane in the other direction than The Gold Coast.
Great video! Bunya Park was a smaller wildlife park on the Northside. It had koalas, dingoes, emus, wombats, kangaroos etc... plus a maze near the carpark. Kumbartcho Sanctuary & Nursery is now in its place.
I remember Wild Waters at Logan had awesome slides . We would arch our backs so only our shoulders, elbow and ankles would touch the slide and we would absolutely fly down!
The Woolshed always seemed like a fever dream to be. I was once when I was in primary school, remember having to go down the slides in my school clothes because we weren't told there were slides. I got a sandwich bag of freshly shaved wool to take home and I had it for a couple of years until I had to throw it out. I could rarely find any information about the place when googling and whenever I asked someone about the place, they remember it existing and maybe even visiting but couldn't remember anything other than that.
A small part of Ferny Groves Woolshed waterslides is set up in a backyard on Lilley Rd Cashmere. Loved the Amazons footage. Thanks for the great info and Merry Christmas to you!!
Brilliant video mate. Been a SEQ resident my whole life and have always loved theme parks. Never knew half of these places you showed existed! I look forward to the next video, and look forward to the inevitable coverage of magic Mountain on the Gold Coast. Never got to go there, but I did go on the chairlift.... after it was relocated to dreamworld after it's closure!. Keep up the excellent work!
The Ferny Grove Waterslides were called ‘Rainbow Valley’. The Woolshed was built later adjacent to Rainbow Valley. Originally Rainbow Valley had two slides. The first was pretty slow but the 2nd had a steep incline and was briefly the fastest waterslide in the southern hemisphere. They later added the third slide which had the habit of spitting people out on a particular corner (I still have the scars).
Samford Grass Ski Park used the name Adventureland, but was NOT ĺocated at Mt O'Reilly Road - it was just off Eaton's Crossing Road north of Samford Village. It did not adopt the name until well after the original Adventureland closed.
Any parks we've forgotten? Where was somewhere in Brisbane (or surrounds) you used to visit during the summertime when you were growing up?
Mirage Grand Pix at Oxley comes to mind. Thank you for this, seeing Amazons again even briefly brought back so many memories.
@@CycKath They mentioned it.
@@CycKath We gave Mirage a mention! Albeit very briefly!

@@UncleDanDota Thanks mate, but this video is about theme parks no longer running. Aussie World are still going.

Ahh... I vaguely remember it. Wasn't it next door to the Ginger Factory in Yandina at one time?
I remember the Warrego Waterslide in Haigslea. The big tube slides were a stand-out feature from the Warrego Highway.

Thanks again for another fantastic trip down memory lane, and also for some education!😊
That's what we're here for!

Loved Tops when I was a kid! The dragon coaster and a jungle theme playground was always a highlight of going into Queen St
Thanks for doing this . Quite nostalgic . Went to Adventureland a few times in my school days .

Would love to see one covering the old video arcades like Playtime & Timezone in a similar fashion.
Great video.
I'm surprised no mention was made of The Plantation at Capalaba West (now part of Chandler).
