They're way bigger than I thought too! It's so incredible seeing how the Henson company continues to innovate but remain true to what makes Henson productions special. They know when to incorporate modern technology, when to stick with the tried and true, and how to merge them together magically!
Absolutely loved watching Fraggle rock and the Doozers as a kid, my brothers, sisters, and I would make sure that we would get all of our friends to come over and watch it together. It was one of those very few times that we were inside watching TV.
I'm always amazed at how immediately a puppet comes to life when its controls are being manipulated. Like a lightswitch from "this is an object" to "oh look at that little guy holding a drill and looking around".
Cancelling Age of Resistance is right up there in boneheaded moves with cancelling HBO Rome. Both would have cost much less in their next seasons because all the props/sets were largely built.
I grew up with Fraggle Rock. As much as I really love the Doozers, if I were Adam, I'd be begging to check out the Fraggle puppets in the background, particularly Red.
@@DenisRyan the anticipation is almost unbearable - but the reward for patience will be so sweet (I should try and hunt down the new series, compare it to my memories of the original, then hunt the original for a proper comparison)
@@TiffanyScrog I was at a panel at SDCC in 2008 about the legacy of Fraggle Rock, and the actress that played Red was there, with Red. She...no, RED sang the final song written for the final episode of Fraggle Rock live on stage, and we all sang along with the words on the big screen, karaoke style. The entire theater was filled with adults bawling their eyes out, while the few kids looked around, perplexed by what was happening! Hahah!!
1990 I got to see the Jim Henson museum tour showing how all the animatronics and Muppets worked. I still remember the little doozer display of them working. I'm so glad to see these are being updated. Thank you to everyone at Jim Henson's workshop and thanks Adam for taking us back there again.
Considering he said his job WAS means he either doesn't work there anymore or he moved to a different set work. He was called in maybe just for this interview. I mean I am so out of touch with shows (I dont watch Tv nor pay subscriptions for anything), do Doozers even air anywhere anymore? Especially new episodes ... I didn't seen this show in 15+ years ... and even that was the old ones from when Jim was alive.
The concept was so great, shame it had to be saddled with being a reality show. I was riveted every second it wasn't deceptively edited or forcing unnecessary interpersonal drama into the proceedings, so about half of the runtime.
I would love to see the look on Jim Henson‘s face, and the excitement at seeing how things have changed. I think he would be a static at the things he could do.
I actually reconstructed Aughra's Orrery to scale, using still frames from the movie, as accurate as I could, in VR! It's amazing to sit there and watch it spin. So mesmerizing!
watching Tested makes me miss working in theming, used to work for studio y creations in calgary years ago before my kids were born. Makes me want to get back into behind the scenes stuff again. I love how stoked everyone is in creating . such a good vibe to work around.
It would be my life long dream of 3d designing for a company as wonderful as the Jim Henson Company. This is wonderful to see the magic behind their magic of puppetry. Dozers are so nostalgic. Loved Fraggle Rock as a kid.
Thank you for that tour. Loved watching the Fraggles as a teen(?) and was more then surprised that they shot country-specific elements in the humans workshop. I realized that when I noticed the actor being a german actor. As scale modeler the Doozers and their machines were of course my favorite part together with the "allwissende Müllhalde" (all-knowing, all-seeing Trash Heap) Still a term I use to this day.
Nerdforge's Martina uses the glue and electrode method to stick fake blades of grass onto her dioramas to make them all stand up. It really is a cool process.
I wish they would do another season of Jim Henson's Creature Shop Challenge, it was by far the best reality tv competition show. Face Off was good, and RuPaul's Drag Race is super fun, but the fact that puppet makers have to do the animatronic work of each character on top of all the sculpting and make up, always blew my mind.
I spy Where The Wild Things Are heads and maquettes!! Looks like Ira, KW and Alexanders heads, a Bull bust and a Carol anatomy model. That movie and those suits did not get enough love.
Hey Adam, I know this doesn't pertain to this video, but what metal lathes do you recommend? I have limited space and plan on turning steel, I'd like a gear head lathe, but i can't find anything. Any recommendations would help a lot, cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
After the Ghostbusters defeated Gozer the Gozerian, the rest of the Gozerians went into construction, outcompeting the more well established Doozers until the 1998 buyout and merger. Thus, the Dozers were incorporated.

"Dozers"!
00:19 - You can see the look of panic on his face, after: "Do I correct him? Do I correct him?" ;P
All of us on the room felt the same.
This is what Freud would call "A slip of the Matrix"
I thought I was having another mandela effect for a moment.

Henson Studios should add an Easter egg: a Doozer version of Adam Savage! When Adam started doing a Doozer voice it was too fitting
Yes!!!!!
ahh robert won this job in jim hensons creature shop challange. nice to see he is still there. also i miss that show.

It was a great show!

5:11 static grass for model trains/dioramas, also Doozer fur :D

First the perpetual motion machine, then the impossible glass object, and now Doozers... Adam, you're a dangerous man!
Wait... Henson's creature shop also built Deadmaus' helmet?
Yep! Most, if not all, of them.
As a kid I related to Gobo. After decades of work, I relate to the Doozers now. 😂
Ha!
Loved Fraggle Rock, even called my dog Sprocket
My kids absolutely loved Fraggle Rock, and The Doozers were their favorites. And the show had a great theme song, too.

Does anyone know where you can watch, purchase, or download the creature shop challenge?

How in the heck have I not heard about Age of Resistance until now?
What the flock. Been using it for model train grass for decades, never even thought of this use.
Fraggle rock was such a great show
Those hands remind me a lot of your tour of aardman and how they do the stop motion puppets!

Great video sir
I see Doozers and it’s an instant watch and like* from me.
*I will qualify that with “…unless someone did something skeevy with them.”
This was a...Doozy...of nostalgia!
This stuff is cool to see😊
Bobby needs to be Wolf from Future Man for Halloween.
Check Robert's microphone... sounds like it has the high pass filter activated.
I tried to like this video million times
obviously its proprietary, but i would LOVE the 3D files to make my own Doozer.
doozers doing a charlies angles show would be freakin funny ... yes the Farrah years angels ...
