They were up 2-1 at a point & right there to go up 3-1….
Don't be shocked if Igor explores elsewhere, it's the smart thing to do to be fair. Igor is about to receive the highest paid contract for a goalie in the history of the NHL, and IMO it's deserved. I can see the Rangers asking him if he would be willing to alter the deal to keep the cap friendly enough to get more impact players. That said, I am quite certain people will be in his ear about ending up as another Henrik Lundquist; a generational goalie with no cup, and sadly for the Rangers it takes multiple generations to even sniff a cup in a final.

The fact that Lundquist didn't win a Cup will be a non-factor in his decision making. Winning a championship isn't necessarily a top priority for every player, especially foreign ones. His family's stability - the ability to remain where they are - may be more important. And aside from ownership and Chris Kreider, the organization personnel has turned over completely since Henrik. Whether they won a cup then is not predictive of whether they can win a Cup now.
@@humanbeing2420 This is speculative, obviously a subjective opinion from your end. After all, you and I don't know what the player(s) are thinking. IGOR is getting his 12mil, that is a no doubter, whether with the Ranger's or not, the point being that once that security is removed you still weigh the pros and cons of the team you play for. Sadly, Henrik never won a cup, and sadly the Rangers are not a generational cup champion, more like an era champion that encompasses numerous decades. I think the only glamour about playing in NY is the original six mystic and perhaps playing in Madison Square Garden. Perhaps, again speculative.
So where do you think Igor goes? Almost every team that is a contender has a very good goalie. Any team that might be a goalie away I don't think has the cap space right now so I don't really see Igor going anywhere else. Most people don't want to leave the Rangers because it is a good organization to play for. None of us know the answer to this though except for Igor and his camp

Instead of an injured Trouba why not play a healthy Jones. I know he's a rook but he looked good this year.
I do feel Rangers and Canes are the next runners up to win the cup.

I respectfully disagree. this isn’t working having the most elite goalie doesn’t win you cups, if it did the Rangers would have 3 more by now. They gotta let Igor walk and actually shake up this roster construction. put the money into the lineup I can’t watch them give Lindgren and Igor extensions with out saying this organization hasn’t learned a thing from Henrik and Girardi. We need a True #1 Center 4 solid lines of big checking skilled bodies and a decent goalie that’s the recipe.
Someone’s getting hurt if Igor isn’t resigned
Rangers really need to evaluate the Fox Lindgren tandem. They are not big enough to be top pairing. Lindgren is tough as nails, but Fox is ineffective against power wingers. the Cats exposed that weakness and also were able to neutralize him very easily. Rangers PP never was in this series. Fox is key, he looked bad, actually the whole D looked bad, no one stepped up. Too many non scoring D men on this team (goal scoring)
The team let Igor down, zero support. He should be pissed off. The odds of them repeating next year are slim. As a Ranger fan I’m not saying they won’t make the playoffs, but the top team in the NHL (I know who cares) is unlikely. Lindgren needs to stay. That dude was a beast in the playoffs.
They don't need to be the top regular season team to win a Cup though.

3 years of putting up a stone wall in the playoffs only to have the team let you down? The young talent HELLA thin? The veteran core is soft and lazy? Yea... Igor should explore different options. The window is closed, and anyone who thinks differently is delusional...
Mika is falling off and each year after 30 is going to get worse... Kreider is also getting old and will start falling off...Panarin is an overvalued passer... Trouba (injured or not) is a terrible defensemen... Miller is decent but not a top D pair kind of guy... Kakko is going to be a bottom 6 3rd line player... Chytil MIGHT be OK but his health is more important... the ONLY decent player this post season was Laf and Drury decided to sign him to a bridge deal... he is going to ask for a kings ransom now because he is the only person with a future on the team right now.
A real captain would have acknowledged that he was hurt and he wasn't helping the team especially when you have two other defensemen at the ready. I think that is not great leadership
You’re letting these guys off the hook big time Panarin,Zibanijade these guys are not playoff guys Panarin coughed up the puck in ECF a lot !!!
They've been effective in the playoffs before though. It's not as if they've both always failed in the playoffs. Panarin helped Columbus beat Tampa in 2019, for example.
Without Breadman & Zib they probably won't even make the playoffs.
I still think Panarin helped a lot cuz he drew a lot of defenders and opened things up for Tro n Laffy

@@rug2124 Panarin is top 5 inthe league. A few more hot games and he could've been MVP. Playoffs a little different. They did shut bread down, but like you said it gave vince & laffy some shine.
