that spare tire on the back is problematic in time you wear down the back door alignment, I test drove a Honda CRV with a spare tire on the back and light on the dashboard announced it. could be a costly fix. I was going to purchase one of these until I saw all of the Cablegate issues with the MGR connector on the HV cable. Class action lawsuit in Canada for it. Toyota is saying it's not part of the hybrid components so some people are paying large amounts out of pocket to replace the cable on vehicles only a couple years old. They tried to "fix" it by opening the connector allowing the moisture/debris to fall or drain out but really that's not a solution.

In Fall 2019 I upgraded to the 2020 RAV4 Hybrid for more space, also a fantastic vehicle and can confirm I got almost 40 MPG regularly.
Lastly, last month I traded in for a Tacoma since I’m not commuting far at all am enjoying it despite the gas guzzling!
I did love both my hybrids and would consider one again in the future if the Tacoma ever goes (yeah right!)
One things for sure: it won’t be something that isn’t a Toyota.

I have to agree with Scotty on this one. In the long long term they can go a long time before all that happens to a hybrid they tend to be overall more reliable than a full gas but a full gas is more bulletproof because you don’t need to worry about a expensive hybrid battery or generator that’s not on a full gas car. But the main advantage of the hybrids I feel is the electronic cvt. Never knew about early ones having issues maybe that was gen 1 cause gen 2 Prius just keep on going even with that gen having a burning oil issue

Gotta love their performance, but you pay big up front and the systems are super complex and - I imagine - tough/expensive to work on.
With the power and fuel economy, in for $35 thousand? Might as well go all-in and get something more substantial. Made a lot of long trips back and forth over the Continental Divide, and if you're planning on living in the thing, you'll find yourself wishing you had more cargo room.

I was very disappointed when Honda jumped on the turbo bandwagon. I don't believe the cost complexity and longevity make the 1.4 turbo a better option than a 2.0. Advantage Toyota.

He said the other day hes got 8k miles on it.

I hate all CVT transmissions. I really wish that car japanese car manufacturers would create a new type of transmission like a fully automatic sequential shifting transmission that is more compact size, lower weight, more mechanical than most of other transmissions, is also most fastest on gear shifting, doesnt waste hp and torque from engine.
