  • A shadow fleet of oil tankers is forging ever-closer ties between Russia and Gulf states like the UAE and Saudi Arabia. These tankers emerged in 2022 after Russia invaded Ukraine, allowing Moscow to skirt the West imposing a price cap on its oil. So why have more shadow tankers moved towards these Gulf nations?
WSJ explains how oil-rich nations in the Middle East facilitate Russia’s oil trade amid Western efforts to curb the Kremlin’s energy revenues.

Investigative journalists in Croatia have now been warning for years that Croatian port Ploce is also importing Russian oil, transporting it to town Brod in Croatia and then to Brod in Bosnia, where crude oil is refined, and as such "laundered" back to Croatia/EU as "Bosnian" oil and therefore a clean product. It would be nice if a western media outlet would look into this and do a proper story.

Pretty sure they know already India openly sells refined Russian oil to EU . They don't care bcz if u actually fully removed Russian out of equation prices of Oil will shot up and Saudi will make sure to squeeze every penny . Lastly don't forget most nation literally cannot afford that prices without collapsing. Remember when gas prices were high at start and most of EU citizens were complaining? Some EU nation tried to stop indian from getting Russian oil knowing very well average indian is 6 time poorer than western European. It would have literally ended poorer nations

I doubt that the sanctions will stay the same. Nor will the strategies of war. If the gulf states and India give Russia more ways to work around the sanctions and increased sanctions don't work, and Ukraine doesn't get weapons that directly combat Russia, than logically, Ukraine would switch to commerce attacks in the Black Sea. Both Russia and Ukraine have declare those merchant ships to be legitimate targets of war. As long as Ukraine was getting sufficient weapons, it made sense to keep this as more of a military conflict. But even then Russia tried to destroy Ukrainian grain export facilities. If EU and USA support isn't strong enough, the next cheap attack is on tankers passing from the Kerch Strait towards Turkey. Heck there might be a "Houthi" attack on the Suez Canal, leading to its shutdown.
