ok so 63 tips... ive been in the industry for more than 20 years figured if im lucky there might be 2-3 out of 63 tips. first effin tip on leveling chair legs was a life changer
I like this a lot, made me laugh. When I first started watching you sounded angry and defensive, but after watching more it really comes across that you're just passionate about sharing and you don't have time for a lot of nonsense, which I appreciate. Strong work friend
My tip is begin & end each shop session with a finger count, if the count is different by more than 10% a change in hobbies is called for . No project should take more than the loss of 1 finger.
It’s a great quality of a person to have the ability to have a fun side along with the knowledge being presented. Thank for the tips. Off to hide my chisels from my wife! Lol
Found your channel (because I threw out my back and about all I can do now is sit and watch tv) and subscribed. Thank you very much for all the great video's. You sure do provide some good practical information on every one. I'll be sure to buy something from you soon.btw... You've got me convinced to learn spindle turning (I'm one of those bowl guys, right now)
I am very glad you are making more videos. I really love the education man! I'm in Oklahoma and would like some info on your classes. I'm sure you do want to include advertising in your videos but mention it every now and then won't hurt! Thanks again brother. "If you love it, it's worth it!"
There's lots of contradictory information out there but supposedly people are allergic mainly to peanuts (a lignum) and specifically the proteins in peanuts. Walnut allergies are rarish. The process of creating oil gets rid of proteins. But... if it's a concern don't use it.
Like tip for newbie to woodworking. How to tell WHAT TYPE of WOOD something is? For example if I have a dresser or wood table...how can I find out what type of wood it is?
ON YOUR TIP #59, That mustard bottle works GREAT for many of my shop fluids from glue to BLO to tung oil to machine oil. Just make sure they are clearly labled.
24 - HAHAHAHA! 50 - I have empty tubs of planters honey roasted peanuts. Give me so much energy! 59 - I been using these for glue to make my screen print screens. Works great!!! Learned a few things from both videos! Thanks for the tips.
You can get walnut oil at most grocery stores, or, if you have more money than you need, you can buy exactly the same thing for 4 to 10 times as much at your woodworking outlet.
Yep, $6 a quart is better than $20. Though most times the Mahoney's level is actually processed differently so even though both are 100% walnut oil because of the protein difference the wood based stuff does cure faster and harder. But I still use the cheap stuff.
Maybe, but I prefer the humour here. (By the way, I am a government trained mechanic, an HNC engineer and a Jet engine fuel control technician grade one, specialising in ATAR 09B-09K50(Kfir) fuel control.
Tip #0001: Don't use the machines or tools when you are angry, sick, frothing at the mouth, or distracted by love for anything other than the doing with the machines, tools or wood (no pun intended). Also, do not become distracted when in the middle of a table saw cut the shop mouse runs across the floor, the beautiful woman goes by the shop window (which you should be unaware of anyway), or a fracking earthquake shakes the floor.
Machinist here. If you want to keep all 10 fingers attached, you shouldn't wear those Husky gloves while running power tools. Use latex or nitrile because they'll tear away much more easily instead of dragging your hand into the blade/spindle. Even those fingerless gloves can be pretty dangerous.
@@wortheffort Fair enough. I suppose as long as you're cutting inside, it wouldn't present quite as much danger. It would still worry me a lot, though. Is there not some kind of oil you could use on the tool and spray on the workpiece to prevent the bulk of the steam in the first place?
thank you . throwing tools ha . i was a machinist on a sub-tender i had just sharpened a shell end mill 4" dia. when one of the guys picked it up and through it at one of the other guys . lucky he missed him . wrecked the end shell oh well back to the drawing board . so yup don't through tools he was lucky
Oh, sorry,I wasnt clear! I meant dont do like me and grind a file into a tool (because I didnt have any!). When I try to slide the file/tool across the rest, the teeth of the file bite into the tool rest, instead of sliding like I want!
Yes, I live in Texas, too. I’ve been trying to count how many lizard species I have in my yard, walls, roof, etc. I think about six or seven. The ones that come inside tend not to last long (we have cats).

great tips! re. Walnut oil on food bowls - isn't it a bit risky for people with walnut allergy?
There's lots of contradictory information out there but supposedly people are allergic mainly to peanuts (a lignum) and specifically the proteins in peanuts. Walnut allergies are rarish. The process of creating oil gets rid of proteins. But... if it's a concern don't use it.
Thanks for the tips.. a few new ones I didn't know. Always worth the effort to learn new things.

This is the woodworking version of Scotty Kilmer
Had to look him up. I think he ripped me off before I did it. Or we both ripped off Max Headroom.
Wait, is that the car guy?
Yeah, same style :-)
LOL he rather looks an sounds like the late Sam Kinnison (may he RIP)

Love it!!!!!

#54 is the most essential deep meaning of life 👍👍✨

Entertaining and informative... Wish I would have watched before using my new chisel, I pushed it right into the middle finger on my opposite hand.
Thanks and... ouch.
Health and Safety tip :-
If they're cursin', they'll survive. It's the quiet ones you have to worry about.
Yep

You had me at "dont throw tools"
wise advice

LockeandDemosthenes Woodturnrrs here. Those melt. Gloves are there to prevent burning from steam creation.

LockeandDemosthenes nope.
2 thumbs from me! I like your style. You have a new subscriber............... :)
Thanks
Sapele Steve b
Same here!
My cousin could have used tip #49 a few years ago. He needed multiple stitches on his hand. It was gross.
Dig your style
Keep it sharp
Thanks
I wish you were a teacher in the UK....
Thanks
Hahahaha. The start was like the Sam Kinison of woodworking.
Thanks
My first thought as well.
Yheeeeeeaaaaa
Funny and informative. Thanks from this woodworking novice.
thank you . throwing tools ha . i was a machinist on a sub-tender i had just sharpened a shell end mill 4" dia. when one of the guys picked it up and through it at one of the other guys . lucky he missed him . wrecked the end shell oh well back to the drawing board . so yup don't through tools he was lucky
amen on the tool rest! but dont use the file for a tool!!! it wont SLIDE!! BTW, great Ideas!!
Notice the direction I filed. Keeps what minor scratches left behind in the path of movement. Slides fine.
Oh, sorry,I wasnt clear! I meant dont do like me and grind a file into a tool (because I didnt have any!). When I try to slide the file/tool across the rest, the teeth of the file bite into the tool rest, instead of sliding like I want!
Keep fingers attached to hands at all times. Skin should also remain attached.
So, according to 19, I should stop learning and give up?
OK
He said it was a tip "for dummies"! ;)
Hahaha - made me smile :) :) :)
Thanks
love this so much
Thanks
No. 29 ….. Huh? No. 49 - very true: my only serious injury in 40 years of woodworking was with a chisel.
yep, most dangerous tool.
good funny video, new sub
Thanks
Methinks, it is just a matter of time, before they throw a net over you!
You assume they haven't before....
Your funny and nice facts
Provide a home for geckos!
Hey, it's Texas.
Yes, I live in Texas, too. I’ve been trying to count how many lizard species I have in my yard, walls, roof, etc. I think about six or seven. The ones that come inside tend not to last long (we have cats).
You are soooo funny😂
