When someone offers an opinion such as how long a certain type of valve will last, it is useful to know how they came to that opinion.

The picture of the valves on the end of the video are much better than the one you just installed.

I have one behind my washing machine that looks similar to the picture he showed at the end. When people come over to visit they comment on how nice my washer box looks. NOT. Lol 😂. Nice job with the fix in the video. That’s how I would do it too.

I'm a newcomer to your channel, and I'm glad I found you because you make a very clear tutorial.
I've a piggyback washer/dryer. The washer appeared to have died, so I ordered a new washer/dryer from Loews. When it was delivered, one of the guys said that I'd need a plumber to upgrade the fittings for the new machine. I thought about that, refused the Lowes machine, and leaned, from research, about the probable cause of the washer failure - which was the pump. I ordered a new pump, and it arrived with a broken bracket. I removed the bracket from the faulty pump, attached it to the new pump, and my machine was ready to rock 'n' roll, for only a small expenditure.
THE QUESTION IS: Why did the Lowes fellow tell me about needing a plumber to upgrade the valves - are the fitting dimensions/thread size
of newer hoses different these days from my perfectly serviceable 1984 fittings? If so, aren't their simple "adapters" available?
Many thanks from a new subscriber!

As for your question, based on my experience working in houses built from mid 70’s to now, I have not seen a change in the valve threads. The threads are the same as the garden hose. That said, replacing the valves when using sharkbite and an access panel is pretty easy, no need for a plumber.
      Hope this helps.

Many thanks for your response. Good to know that I don't HAVE to change them - because at the age of 78 with old-age pains, just pulling out the piggyback washer-dryer to gain access for a change of valves would be a very unwelcome chore.
Why do you suppose the Lowes guy said that I'd have to update them? @@JustForYouDiy

Great video! Very helpful and informative. However, I am not a plumber but I think you could cut out a wider piece of the dry wall to give you enough room to work. I'm kind of skeptical as to whether or not enough solder got around to the back of the pipe.

Thank you. One thing to keep in mind, if you’re using an access panel, the size of the access panel before cutting the drywall. Hope this helps.
