    I would be really interested in a video on why cybernetic enhancement is so rare in star wars after the old republic era. Also, I really enjoy the old republic music in the background.

    • @toomanyaccounts
      @toomanyaccounts 5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      bacta. heals most injuries and disease. so most of those that would turn to cybernetics after injuries, diseases before bacta tank treatmet, didn't have a need for a lot of cybernetics. in fact only those too injured for bacta tank or allergic to bacta tank turned to cybernetics. plus there is a stigma about cybernetics due to the ability of bacta to heal most anything. the only cybernetics in common usage would be ones that would have a synthetc flesh covering such as a replacement arm or hand so people wouldn't realize the person had a replacement. .

    • @thalmoragent9344
      @thalmoragent9344 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      toomanyaccounts
      So bacta can heal entire limbs now? I didn’t know that...
      Cybernetics as on whole limbs loss is probably what he meant, not just the everyday scratch.

    • @fGlassmanN
      @fGlassmanN 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      toomanyaccounts I mean cybernetic enhancement, not replacement

    • @toomanyaccounts
      @toomanyaccounts 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@thalmoragent9344 we can reattach limbs in a number of cases today. bacta would certaintly help increase the odds. cybernetic enhancement fell out of favor due to side effects. to make a lobot you have to remove the person's personalty hence why it was done to slaves or prisoners. regular people wouldn't go for cyborgness due to stigma, lack of reasons.

      Cyber augmentation was still massively used by a large number of bouny hunters however as technology had advanced the need for augmentation isn’t as common - for example a phase two clone armour set contains all the technologies that augmentations could offer without the need for long surgical treatments... old republic soldiers armour was more of a uniform - the heavy trooper armour contained far less technology

    I've been replaying SWTOR recently and I've just finished the cartel storyline on Makeb and I was wondering how the Hutts played a role in 're galaxy as it's mentioned... they seem a lot more powerful than they are portrayed in games and films

    • @MrMarinus18
      @MrMarinus18 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The Hutts are very isolationist and also quite decentralized. The counsel doesn't actually have that much power and if it tried to put too much pressure on it's members they likely would rebel. They mostly are just left alone by everyone as their neutrality is well known. They almost never ally with anyone. They are nobody's friend and nobody's enemy.

    One important thing with regards to Hutt influence on the galaxy at large was the Ootmian Pabol hyperspace route, which connected Hutt Space to the Republic via the Gyndine system. It was scouted in 12,000 BBY by Gyndine scouts and quickly became the single most important trade route between the two powers. This ended in 4000 BBY, when the star of the Kyyr system went supernova, severing the route and leaving the Thornhedge Nebula and Pulsar in its place. Nal Hutta experienced significant economic decline for a period of time due to the economic upheaval caused by this event, and Hutt influence in the Republic took a noticable dip. The route was eventually pieced back together, but it never again reached the same level of prominence due to other routes being scouted and made use of before that happened.

      Some Random Dude
      40k’s Lasgun would probably lose out for pure strength, it’s greatest advantages aren’t purely combat based, but logistics based.
      Simple weapon that doesn’t require much maintenance (Clean, mumble a quick prayer and your done compared to most other 40k weapons that requiere more extensive maintenance and repair) their PowerPacks have a LOT of rounds, the regular Lasgun firing in its regular Firing Mode has around 400 rounds worth of power, and each Guardsman has 4, so that’s 1,600 shots with a single soldier. They can be easily manufactured and massed produced (the only reason they have to recover them from the battlefield is because MILLIONS requiere arming every single day) and has very little recoil compared to Autoguns. In the fluff apperantly it’s strong enough to blast apart concrete but I’m skeptical, I say it’s as strong as a 7.62Nato round.

  • @steampunker7

    So here's a question for you and something I've been mulling for a bit. Do you think there was any fallout between the Empire and the Hutts over Vader's actions on Tatooine during a New Hope?
    Phantom Menace references that Tatooine was "controlled by the Hutts" to which I think we can infer that it was part of Hutt Space. Extended universe lore established that Hutt Space had a kind of non-aggression pact with the Empire with the Hutts maintaining a level of independence for their territory by not screwing (openly) with the Empire and the Empire acknowledging however grudgingly that taking the Hutts head on would be too much trouble and cost.
    Then one day, seeming out of nowhere, an Imperial Star Destroyer shows up unannounced in Hutt Space over one of their worlds. Stormtroopers are landed and start prowling around various settlements, there's at least one firefight in one of the planet's major hubs and starports before the Imps just up and leave without a word of explanation.
    I can't imagine that such an incident, even on a backwater berg like Tatooine, would go unnoticed or unquestioned by the Hutts and I'm pretty sure the Empire would be casting a suspicious eye at the Hutts after Rebel agents (who had just managed to blindside their well defended research base and make off with the top secret blueprints of their super weapon) happened to "disappear" while transporting those blueprints through Hutt territory.
    Makes me wonder if there were a few very tense holonet calls between Palpatine and the Hutt Council over it and if part of Jabba's cavalier attitude toward executing Luke (who by then was probably well known as being VERY wanted by the Empire for blowing up the first Death Star) was a kind of "Screw you" to the Imps for them casually stomping around on his terf.

    Gotta like the drawings for territory references. It felt like I was watching a Khan Academy video on Star Wars[In a good way]

    The only thing I would dare to suggest is animating changes in what force occupied what space as the war or conflict progressed. Doesn't have to be long, can be a second, is it full annexation, or just part of the territory taken. I will leave that comment on Corey's channel as well.

    Very interesting vid, Corey. I've been curious about the Hutts since they were introduced, more so after they expanded in the Clone Wars series. Did they ever mention how the Hutts originally gain their power? I don't see them being very capable fighters. I'm guessing they bought their fighters. How did they originally get that money I guess is the real question...

      Glad you enjoyed it. Even with the "modern" galaxy, there are some combat-capable Hutts. Presumably ancient warrior Hutts wouldn't have been too far off of the Shell Hutts, and being technologically superior can also definitely help you. I'll probably talk about that in a future video, too.

    #askeck Were there any Hutt factions that developed superweapons, like a hutt death star or sun crusher?

      Well, Durga the Hutt, using Black Sun resources, tried to build a miniature Death Star called the Darksaber, in Legends. He did a poor job of it though.

    #AskEck the Daleks vs star wars. I know it's a little outside of what u cover but I think it would be interesting to see how the star wars galaxy at there peak vs the daleks at there peak would go. Also, nice video I always wanted to know more about the hutts after seeing mal hutta on star wars the clone wars.
