8. Follow You Into the Bathroom
Everyone can appreciate the loyalty in dogs, but sometimes you just wish they could leave you alone for one second, especially when you are using the restroom. Even if you close the door and say no several times, they still might whine and scratch at the door. Why on earth does the dog want to get in there so bad? There are a couple explanations. Dogs are naturally curious, it notices that you always tend to go inside the bathroom alone. Your dog may wonder why it is you aren't including him. Also, remember, historically dogs are pack minded animals. Animals that travel in a pack do everything together, everything. It may be that this makes it feel unnatural to your dog to be separated from you. This will happen more frequently if you have a protective dog. They will want to be close, to protect you, that's all it is.
7. Chasing Their Tails
Watching a dog chase its tail around in circles is classic comedy. It's not all fun and harmless though. If they do it too much it is important to train it out of them, as its frequency forms a bad habit and excessive spinning will cause disorientation . Why do dogs do this though? In most instances, they are mistaken their furry tail for a woodland creature. Thousands of generations of hunting has given them the instinct to give chase to little furry creatures. Your dog also might be chasing an itch that they just can't scratch or worse a flea or tick. New research also suggests this could be a sign of Canine Compulsive Disorder, which is similar to OCD in humans. A study by PLOS ONE discovered that a group of dogs given extra vitamins and minerals were not as prone to the behavior as the dogs given a minimal amount. If your dog is exhibiting compulsive tail chasing symptoms, try and raise the health of the dog food you are providing. Another interesting fact is that dogs separated from their mothers at an early age are more prone to this compulsion.
6. Being Jumpy After A Bath
Given your dog a bath is one of the harder things to do, but even that doesn't compare to how difficult it can be to try and towel off a post-bath dog. Dogs tend to be extra jumpy and hyperactive after a bath. No, unfortunately, this is not because the dog is happy it is clean. Instead, the dog is just excited not to be taking the bath anymore! No, seriously, knowing they don't have to be scrubbed down any more puts a real kick in their stepped. Compared to how they are usually stilted and anxious during the process, the sudden change in emotion is often jarring. Make sure the bathroom door is closed so they can't run out after a bath. Wrapping your towel completely around them will help to comfort and settle them down.

My Daschund Terrier mix, named Root, loves to play fetch with small yucky stones from the backyard.
I have tried everything to get her not to put those rocks in her mouth!!
She picks out about 4-5, likes to get as many as she can fit in her mouth, she wants me to keep at least two in movement at all times, she wants me to be fast like a ball thrower machine at the practice stadium lol
& we *MUST* do this for at least 30 minutes every damn day. Ive tried small toy balls, plastic cap's, other toy's, etc but nope!
She insists that it be those dirty stinky rocks :0/

My dog will chew up his squeaky toys and get the little plastic squeaker out and that just freaks him out, he won't go near it but won't leave it alone, he whines and paws at it for about an hour before gets he gets annoyed with it and walks off.

I always say if leave your wife and your dog alone in the car for 30 minutes and when you come back see which one is still happy to see you. The one thats happy is the one who loves you unconditionally. My moneys always on the dog. Lol.

My dog is a blanket hoarder. He's a straight-up criminal. You can't leave any blankets or anything soft and cozy because he takes it in his mouth and drags it into the corner where he has created a nest of other little things you've left around. Patricia Summers everyone that's lived with a dog knows exactly how you feel. People say a dogs a mans best friend but they are more like our children, . They are so child like and they see us in a similar way as their parents......I used to tuck my boy Reggie in just like you,he actually felt more like my son than a friend. I wanted to wait for a while and go through the grieving process before thinking of owning another......it's been almost 6 months and I feel ready for another.....I've always loved dogs and I've missed that special bond. It's so sad they have such short lifespans because it's truly heartbreaking to let them go but it helps to bring another into the family home when you are ready....I'm ready for my next little buddy 🐶
I've lost four of mine in the past 5 years and now down to two who were actually the least healthy. I try not to feel guilty or even my loss as I focus wholly on these babies.
If they weren't so special we wouldn't miss them. I went into deep depression for a good year when I lost the jack Russell I had from age 16 to 26. Cancer sucks!

My dog does greet me every time I get home, or even if I run out to the mail box. He gets hyper and all excited, nibbling at my face. He acts as though I left him for an entire year or something. He’s so freaking cute! He will not greet anyone else, and he is very wary of guess, but he does warm up to a select few. The whole time he keeps his eyes on me. He never lets me out of his sight. He is the type that follows me in to the bathroom! I guess you would say he’s very protective. I keep saying, if he were the size of a pit bull, he would be the best guard dog ever! However, he’s only about 11 pounds, but he’s my perfect cuddle buddy each night. He’s my best friend in the whole world, and I can’t imagine a life where I never met him. 🐶❤️

I only get a few minutes before my dog will do something to get me out of the bathroom e.g. chasing cat, barking, throwing toys in the door, and even lifting his leg like he will urinate if I don't come out.
Our pitbull retriever mix Speckles became diabetic and lost his sight. We loved him and he loved us very much. We lost him to the disease but he was a special dog.
He loved walking with me. One day a huge pitbull came charging at us barking aggressively. Speckles was blind, skinny and slow. I put myself in front of him to protect him. He pushed me out of the way. He put himself between me and the pit and began to growl and bark furiously. He never barked! I was amazed at his courage. He loved me so much he was willing to protect me knowing he would lose. He scared the pitbull away. I just hugged him and cried. He was the one of the best friends I have ever known.

I Had to let my dog go yesterday. It was the hardest thing I’ve had to do so far. She was a bulldog with white fuzzy fur and lil brown spots all across her body. Zoe was tall for a bulldog (despite being the runt of the litter as a pup). Her ears were soo soft and furry I loved petting them and so did she. She blessed me with an amazing 10 years- having the most love and joy for me and my family, and just life in general that I’ve ever seen. A few months ago we found out She had a tumor in her bladder and it made her very sick. Despite this Zoe never stopped loving us with all her energy. I will always remember her fluffy lil paws and her wrinkly face. Everyone who met her instantly fell in love with her. She was the sweetest soul and I’m going to miss Zoe everyday. It’s amazing how much of an impact a dog can make on a family. We were the center of her world and we tried our best to emulate that pure love and compassion back to her. Even though we gave her a great, spoiled life filled with many treats, toys, attention, it’s extremely hard to let her go. I think going on here to let people know about her will help with the process of grief and is kinda therapeutic. So, Thanks to whoever reads this and enjoy everyday with your dog to the fullest because they definitely deserve all the love! I love you ZoZo

Try writing your loved one a letter. Get a journal and write how much you will always love him or her. Apologize for any time you had to leave them alone. Write things that only you and your loved one knows about. Doing that is healing. I've done it to my dogs in the past. So sorry for your loss.❤🐶
I know what you mean I went through the same thing with my bulldog,I took him to the vet just for a check up & he passed with flying colours the vet said its been a long time since ive seen such a happy healthy bulldog,1 month later he was riddled with cancer,we had to let him go he was only 3yrs old..

My dog has nightmares sometimes. He's a hurricane rescue. I always make sure he's sleeping near me or someone else so that if he starts crying there's someone there who will wake up and comfort him as well as familiar smells to help soothe his subconscious while he sleeps.

my lab would push the door open, watch me pee, then bark when I flushed the toilet. He lived 17 years, did it his whole life. I have no idea why but it was just his thing. He also barked and attacked the vacuum cleaner as a younger dog, at around age 13-14 he finally stopped doing that. I miss him, he was the kind that ALWAYS had to be touching me and was so happy to see me, even when I just left for 5 minutes. Dogs are great, Labs are extra special great. He didn't lick my face but he did lick my arm. I guess I tasted good. We were both Chocolate addicts, I wonder if my sweat tasted like chocolate. Three Musketeers was his favorite. He LOVED halloween, he got lots of mini 3 musketeers bars. He liked peanut butter cups too but the peanut butter stuck to the roof of his mouth and he would fight it for 10-15 minutes. I could only give him the outer edges so it didn't stick. He was a black lab but I called him my chocolate on the inside lab. The Monday of Thanksgiving week will be the 8th year he is gone.( 1993-2010 ) That week sucks, I lost family members and 2 dogs during Thanksgiving week. I dread November.

I had a white husky mix with blue eyes for a while, adopted her from a shelter. She had no name, wasn't a pup, and was about to be put down. I gave her a name (Atka) and a home.
Mom would ask if the dog was hungry, the dog would 'talk back' with what sounded like "I'm hungry."
Atka also would pick up dog food she didn't like in her mouth, walk to me and drop it at my feet. She would also swat at my hands with her paws, try and get up in the chairs with me, etc.
I worked often, and my mom couldn't walk her due to hip problems. I felt Atka wasn't getting adequate exercise with just me caring for her. I loved Atka more than anything, gentle to any other animal. I gave her to someone I knew who had a farm. Someone I knew would love her. I had stories told to me often. Atka would "scream" at the goats, freaked out with chickens, but enjoyed life there. She visited neighbor kids down the road and played with them, they couldn't have a dog, but she was welcome for a visit. She kept a family member of the farmer who had cancer happy.
I had news on Halloween of this year that the dog passed away in her sleep. I cried about it then, and it is still hard now. In such a short several years, she touched alot of lives and lived up to her given name. I'll miss her...

I don’t have a dog but want one one day but not sure if I’m allergic. Still...I find them to be very fascinating and lovable!!

But the most notable part of it is that with dogs it wasn't a mere domestication of a wild animal, but started out as an entirely voluntary, mutual cooperation from which both benefitted...and now, 10 to 30tsd years later, we still do on so many different levels.
M J My Lab is just 55 days old follows me to the restroom & now from 2-3 days he has started leaning on my legs i.e whenever he is sleepy he follows me and sleeps near me keeping his head on my feet.
My dog Mozart was like a symphony for me. I expect to see him in heaven. He was amazing!!!

Lajka the best dog I ever had died and i couldn't cry because all that popped up in my head was memories of all the good times we had together , she was amazing in reading me I didn't have to use words . Best dog I have ever had even tough my current dog Perro can do way more than I ever been teaching Lajka. grew up with loads of dogs because my parents where breeding them , and one of the biggest problems is people humanizing animals , we want animals to show us respect by behaving as we want them to but we are poor at doing the same to them . Most people I met on our walks should never have had a dog or any other animal .

My dog knew when I was going into labor before I did. I was in the shower she was scratching on the door to get in (she hates the bathroom she hides if she knows you go in because she hates baths) after being annoyed I opened the door she came in and my water broke! 😳

My best friend, Sunny my little yorkie of 12 years passed away this summer and I miss her so much. I am alone a lot and she kept me company and at times was my only friend. She’s been gone for almost 3 months and it’s been awful. I am always so sad and feel so alone without her yet I am so grateful I had her. Dogs are angels and we are so incredibly blessed to have them. Sunny was AMAZING everyone who knew her loved her so much and she had the greatest most adventurous personality. Watching dog videos like these reminds me of the happy things and reading comments gives me so much comfort because I realize I am not alone in my deep love for my dog and I’m sure many people are missing a pet and truly struggling because of it.
I don't have a dog anymore 😞, but my cat chases his tail, he always runs into the bathroom when he hears me go in, he cuddles with me in my bed every night, when he hears my apartment door's deadbolt he comes and meows greetings when I walk in, and he comes running and jumps into my lap when I exuberantly call his name and pat my lap. You know what, sometimes I wonder if my cat is a little bit confused.

My previous dog use to like to swing herself to sleep in an old hammock my Dad had. She would take this huge running start and jump on the hammock causing it to rock her to sleep!

Kyla S. Lol.... We have two dogs who have to jump up on the bed at night for snuggles before going to their own beds. They are both labs so they are both very big. If my husband gets up to use the bathroom our male yellow lab follows him but our female black lab immediately takes his spot on the bed including putting her head on his pillows and then really does not want to move when he comes back.. Lol.

She followed me in there once and only once. As soon as the show started she quickly realized what was going on and hasn't followed any one in the restroom again. This actually turned advantageous when we put her doggie lawn in there and since she knew what that room was for she immediately understood with 0 training.

My dog walking in stealth like a FREAKING BEAST and Not able to catch a fly is the most hilarious thing.
My grandmother's dog used to use it's nose to get your hand on her for pets. When we first picked her up it was only supposed to be a fostering as the shelter was getting very full and this dog was more than okay to be in a home but this feature made me and my grandmother fall in love with her so much that she just had to keep her and couldn't give her back.

I’ve had dogs I just met lean into me or lay in top of my feet if seated at a table. I’ve received all manifestations of dog love from dogs that don’t know me very well.
That's how I discovered I was good for dogs. I couldn't have a dog growing up but everywhere I went strange dogs would do the same - sit on my feet, lay next to me, kiss me. So I learned all I could about dogs and it turns out I can handle any dog, big or small. You probably have dog trainer or vet in you.

I have a Keeshond. Ears are standing straight up. She tilts her head for words she likes to hear. Walk. Cookie. Breakfast. Supper. Food. Bed. Nap. She tilts her head a lot. It's too adorable. She's just letting me know she's listening. She just knows that reaction makes me happy. I can't resist giving her anything she wants. Yes, she is a princess.

My dog has a weird quirk, since he was a puppy he’s had a thing for feet, if your feet are dangling he comes up and sits on them and rests a paw on them, we don’t know why but he loves to sit on feet and if you shake them he’ll come automatically

8:20 this really takes me back to organic chem in college. I was not even paying attention anymore but was trying to figure out what reaction was that was involving phenozide but the camera angle was obstructing the paper. Alas I had to go back to listen again to number 3. Bless you I recently lost my Staffordshire bull terrier Reggie 12 years old who had severe cognitive dysfunction and had to get him euthanised to end his suffering. .heartbreaking . He died only last month struggling with grief miss him terribly. The grief has been more intense than even the death of close family . It's because a dog gives unconditional love and loyalty no human could match They make you feel special and truly loved , I loved him as much as my own child R.I.P . I'd love to feel his spirit visit me like you experienced . I remember one night I had a dream about him which felt so real his vision was so bright and clear compared to my normal vivid dreams , Maybe it's because I miss him so much that caused this but the thought of it being Reggie trying to comfort me in spirit would be amazing.

I have two Yorkies that are 7 months now and they have to be with me constantly. Even the bathroom thing like you mentioned in your video. If I walk into the kitchen they get up and walk into the kitchen and sit at my feet. I go back to the living room, sit down in my chair they sit right at my feet. They bark at knocks at the door and any other noises they hear. They are my protectors. They think they are big dogs and would take on anything. I wouldn't trade them for the world!

All of these loving jesters makes me miss my Yorkie. He was stolen and he was my everything. He protected me, always licked me in the face even when I said no. He would scratch at the bathroom door if I didn't let him in lol. He always wanted affection. My friend just bought me a pitbull he is 8 weeks. I still pray I find my yorkie, he would have been a great big brother.

dogs tilt their head to hear better not because their ear is covering the ear but because it's easier to pinpoint where a sound is coming from left to right rather than up and down.
She would be wrong. Case in point, German Shepherds have one of the most exaggerated head tilts....their ears are pointy and stand up, not blocking the ear canal at all.
It has to do with sound pinpointing through repositioning, not the floppy ear getting in the way.
