    I'm Soiguapo. I'm glad to see other people using the emulator I wrote. When I get around to working on the emulator again sometime I'll look into the crash for pokemon yellow.

      Thanks again for even making this, I had a blast during the whole process!
      For what it's worth, I tried 2 different pokemon yellow games and had the same result, normally the game will just freeze in the same spot but if you do it in fast forward you'll get some type of error code. Hope that helps in some way!

      Not even sure where to start, but it would be awsome to somehow make the link cable work with this setup.
      The cartridge would need some kind of serial I/O and the emulator would need to have support for it.
      Linking two N64 together via their cartridges over serial... Now that is some wild stuff!
      Guess I am going to get a couple of these carts in the future and bust out the soldering iron and probes.
      There's gotta be a way to piggy back off unused cartridge pins for the serial hardware... Closest thing I've got to compare it to is my 64DD modem.

    • @james.lambert
      @james.lambert 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@Cybertronic72388 I would love to figure that out. I could get it to work for people who have an everdrive with a serial port. Having it on a dedicated cart would be even cooler.
      I also am trying to get the performance for this emulator fast enough that I can run two games on the same console to allow multiplayer but I don't know if that will be possible.

      @@james.lambert not sure what happened with my last reply but it might be possible to do something similar to the GBA link cable for GameCube.
      There is documentation on how to wire up Joybus to UART and also how to Wire up a link cable to UART. There may need to be something in between to relay data if the same baud rate cannot be established, but at least it seems possible.

    Recently saw someone do this with snes carts, had link cable support and everything. they had to frankenstein some super game boys and what not to make it all come together, super impressive stuff.
    Really appreciate that you're throwing this out there more as a how to do it yourself type of thing, really helps people who think they can't get into stuff like this.

    Love the background in the opening. Looks very clean. I love the box art. It looks incredible!. Great B-Roll and voice over work. I really like the music too. It is obviously Pokemon and therefore appropriate. Is this from that remix website? Wow Pokemon Crystal Clear looks dope. I need to download that. Honestly man, this video is a massive step up in quality. I love it! Great job! I love seeing classic Pokemon on the N64. This is truly an awesome project. Project idea. Put Pokemon on PS1 or PS2. Is that even possible?

    • @BelowAverageGaming
      @BelowAverageGaming  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for all the compliments! As far as the music goes there's a company called game Chops that you can check out here on TH-cam that makes royalty free pokémon and Nintendo related music I left a link in the description
      Yeah man Crystal clear is awesome! I definitely plan on finishing it but I must say the game is hard as hell I chose my starting region in town to be right where you get the red Gyarados, I have a level 5 growleth as my starter and all the random pokémon in the bushes are level 40 😂
      Thanks for noticing the quality! It really was what I was aiming for in this video, and I tried to die down on the sound effects a little bit so everyone can focus a little more on the overall project.

      This emulator supports save states. Press down C to save. Hold up C to load a save state. When staring a ROM it will not load the entire save state by default. It will only load the GameBoy cartridge ram emulating the behavior of the GameBoy. If you want a save file to load from a fresh boot you first need to save the game inside the emulator then create the save state with down C.

    I know the game is a whole gen later, but would Emerald or other GBA games work on N64 this way? I'd imagine it's powerful enough. That would be AMAZING! Like, this is already amazing. Lol

    If I could play my GB/GBC Pokemon games on my N64 and be able top use a link cable, AND never have to worry about my save data going kaput because of a stupid dead battery, I'd be happy!

    WOW, very cool. But does this also work with Super Game Boy enhancements too (border, color, color changes on different screens and audio), since Pokémon Stadium 1-3 (the first ever one is Japan only, the US and Europe got 2 & 3 as 1 & 2) has the borders and color enhancements for the original Game Boy ones (Red, Green, Blue and Japanese Yellow).
    Since now it's really the only way to play Game Boy and Game Boy Color games on N64, without having the rare Wide Boy 64 (even GBA supported ones) or Pokémon Stadium (but officially only plays Pokémon games, unless other games are hacked to make it think it's a Pokémon game when it's not, plus emulation is a bit bad too).
    Now let's just hope they'll make the same thing, but with GBA games converted to N64, that'll be more awesome.

      This video actually reminds me of Restalgia's video on Pokémon Green for SNES, only this time you use a normal Super Game Boy 1 or 2, and then do some wiring and soldering skills to make the original or reproduction cartridge rom motherboard so that it plays and unable to swap games, he even created custom cartridges for the other Pokémon games that work on SGB (which is all of them except Crystal).
      I believe he also did the link cable support and clock mod for the SGB1 so games can be linked together and play at the correct speed too, Don't remember if he did it on those custom carts though.

      As far as the borders on the emulator go, as of right now it can't be change but the creator did mention in the future he would like to add those things to it, so I'm expecting some cool things in the future.

    I have a question, I was thinking about doing this and was going to test the converted rom I made into .N64 so is there an emulator that would work to test the rom? Because the few ones I tested didn't work. I was trying to make sure it worked before I flashed a cartridge. Thanks for these tutorials. Do you happen to have a Twitter?

      @@BelowAverageGaming yep I'm using the converter page from the video. I even added the converted rom to my phone and tried to open it with Lemuroid and I get a main thread frozen error text. My laptop can't run the project64 since it has a low graphics card (it's a 2015 Toshiba and can't run any games sadly). And yes, I know the tom base works because I dumped the ROMs to run on my everdrive GB and they work on it no problem

    • @james.lambert

      You can use the roms on an ED. There are instructions on the rom conversion page that let you install a a copy of the emulator once and the everdrive can then run .gb and .gbc files directly instead of needing to convert each rom individually
