@@ThePosetownssame here. My games and consoles are the last thing to go. In fact relatives have to take those from my dead cold hands. I will never sell, i will keep buying even if prices would go up. I would just buy less in year. These real physical games will be mine for life and not some live service which can TaKe all my games away in an instant.
Prices go UP, and prices go DOWN but they never go up or down in a straight line. We have bear markets and bull markets and the ONLY thing that matters is what is the long term trend. A 200 dollar game goes to 100? (when previously it was only 20 DOLLARS) is that a crash? or is that simply a price CORRECTION and it will continue its climb to $400+ etc in the LONG TERM as always happened (look at every single retro console, start with the NES and work your way up looking at LONG TERM charts). Even trash can go up from hype but the market will always find the true price of a game in the LONG TERM based on supply and demand.
The prices will definitely not drop like crazy. These games are just getting older by the year. Sure u can always emulate the game, but it will never be as cool as able to see the actual cover art and manual the game came with.
Prices fluctuate. Get what's cheapest on your Wishlist & continue down that path. The expensive games will be on sale eventually & if you miss out on a few that skyrocket on price, you have a library you paid dirt cheap for
My personal hypothesis: in 40 years, most diehard collectors will have passed. No collectors in the buyers market will make the games drop to atari values. As the sector of society interested in those old games will have moved onto emulation for those games. Leaving no collectors, retro video games will turn into more trash, in a landfill, somewhere in america.
I agree of course about DS price drops, but it isn't across the board. Chrono Trigger (which you and I both have a copy I see) spiked up in price starting in 2021 and is holding very steady at its new inflated price. It is a $100 game as a CIB. Some DS titles and 3DS titles are doing ok. But, the majority are indeed dropping in price for now. Some video games will always go higher in price, some may drop and never recover, but key titles that are highly desirable and tough to find supply will do ok.
There won’t be a crash. Probably a correction of prices for COMMON and POPULAR retro games. The rare and hard to get games will continue to go up , due to availability and condition issues. Only an economic downturn can shake up the retro market. We will see…
theres one guy who sits in front of toy shelves and said retro gaming collecting is dead in a video, and prices have plummeted, and how you can buy a whole box of stuff for $50....then a few videos later he proceeds to hold up 3 cartridges, mario 3, bubble bobble and 1 other game..and explains how he paid $55 for them with tax. LMAOOO people are so full of S$#@ in this hobby its hilarious.
There is no need for it to burst. All people really need to do is download their games. There is no real point in overpaying the scalper price and play their games for free. The sooner people realize that the better.
Many 360 games have dropped back down since the rush. Kens Rage 2 now goes for 120 complete and sealed which is crazy. It's always better to wait these things out just like 3DS. I don't see other console prices dropped or super rare and sought after games like those gamecube ones dropping. The only ones that really drop are the ones that were only priced high due to do a hype cycle when in reality most people weren't going to buy it regardless.
50 cents isnt what people are looking for. I think $20-$40 is a good buy if you want it. Games that are higher in price can reach to $40-$60 instead of the $70-$100 that some are at. Just wait it out
@@Alien_isolationist Do you know when games were 50 cents to a couple dollars? Before mid 2000. Ever since gaming channels start popping up in 2010, game prices goes up.
bro, just collecting expensive games and letting go of all the cheap games is a good idea. I must have 20 boxes of ps3/360/ps2 full of games that are on the cheaper end which I could easily turn and just buy expensive games
its a shame thats what this hobby has become, see who can flex how many thousands of dollars they have sitting on a shelf, little do they realize and what makes them so stupid most of the time they cant get back 50% of what they invested into their collection...unless they resell it on ebay piece by piece. You take your collection up to a store or someone for a bulk buy in a cash your getting a huge cut taken off
you're having an amazing PS2 titles as collection. sadly i may pick God Hands on PSN PS3 on my side, Dual Hearts is a other i'm looking but its so expensive where i'm at. around 150$ in total..
won't be any burst because people keep FOMO to get games, until a certain prices will be higher than Rule of Rose and Kuon. while both will probably be more inflates as well due to greed. People seem to be okay to pay more than what it was 15 years ago. harsh if you ask me, but is it what is it.
I refuse to give up hope that one day we will be back to garbage bags full of games for like 10 dollars.
It'll burst when all of these collectors not saving for retirement start to get old and they all panic sell.
I'll sell my house before I sell my games

itll burst when all these people cease to exist, thats when stuff dies down when the people pass away and theres on one left to care about this stuff.

Burst? No. But alot of prices in the last month have started price corrections downwards towards where they're going to be for the future.

walk into a thrift store every day and hopefully get lucky with a 50% off media and get a variety of games for 4 bucks a pop ez claps

It's not going to be 50 cents to couple of dollars. So stop dreaming. Lol
Also when there are no more retro gaming channels such as this on youtube, then the bubble burst.
