SUPER DANGEROUS Elevator With A Broken Door Lock!

This definitely makes me question what the hell this mall is really doing when it comes to elevator maintenance. Hoistway doors are to be LOCKED and ALL TIMES (except when the elevator is on the floor and open). Other than that, no exceptions. This problem was reported and is said to have since been fixed. I'll see about that.
I found this problem accidentally. When I wait for elevators, I have a bad habit of opening the doors a bit to see in the shaft where the elevator is and if it's coming. When I did that on this elevator and the doors opened right up, I freaked out!!

I mean knowing that these things are broken all the time and getting stuck all the time, this isn’t to big of a surprise to me. They really need to start maintaining these things better. Also that elevator has been broken for like 2 months now.

Holy crap!! Did you notice if the interlock was also broken? i.e. Could the car still move with that landing door open? It's dangerous either way but especially dangerous if the car could operate with those landing doors open.

Wow, that is so dangerous. If I were a building owner and I saw that kind of a fault on the elevator, I'd immediately block it off to prevent everyone from using it because if the interlock is broken, then it's likely that the elevator can move regardless of the door's state, which is a recipe for disaster.

Better contact the mall security and inform them there's a life threating issue with one of their elevators shaft doors interlock not engaging when it should.

There could be a reason why it does not lock.
It may be because the lift is out of service it does not lock in. I have known this to happen with an Old Otis I know of too.

With the elevator running if not it was probably undergoing maintenance and whoever was fixing it left the hoistway door unlocked. Thr car was there so there was no real fall hazard.

Something must have happened in the building to make the elevator break. We can see all the mechanical parts that help the elevator move.

No escutcheon tube on that door for a drop key and those doors are hard to pick. Probably was left out of service by the "mechanic" on the 2nd floor right there so he can replace the door operator. MO rollers on the door are probably wedged to keep the lock from engaging so the next time he/she goes there to do the work they can get right on the car top. That is so dangerous and unprofessional.
