      but ya all joking aside, there really isn't a point in changing rear bench seat, cause one they don't make rear racing seats and two they don't add any function or comfort that your existing seats don't already have. your money would be more well spent detailing your interior.

    Excellent review however I wish you guys had showed us a very important step that I KNOW you guys took - removing the positive battery cable, then wait 30 minutes before you unplug the air bag circuit beneath the seats as to avoid having the bags accidentally go off or throwing a code. Beyond that great install plus you two have great personalities that make you entertaining.

    how would you install racing harness seat belts....

    • @danalves5234
      @danalves5234 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I'm pretty sure racing seat belts connect to a role cage

    • @smiles5257
      @smiles5257 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dan Alves It doesnt have to be connected to roll cage. C pillar bar would be fine.

    • @superawesome3683
      @superawesome3683 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      You need to install a roll cage to safely use a 4 or 5 point racing harness.
      It is possible to install a racing harness to your seat mounting bolts bolts or a harness bar, but those are both stupid ideas. If you ever roll the car, the racing harness will prevent you from folding forward like the stock seat belt allows you to in the event of a roll over and you will die.
      Install a proper roll cage, then bolt the racing harness to that.

    • @shadowwolv21
      @shadowwolv21 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      On certain cars you can attach a harness to the bolts of the back seat which is still bolted to the car and prevents you from moving a whole hell of a lot during a roll or crash

      If you're into gaming and have a steering wheel for your PC/console, you can build yourself a kind of cockpit with some PVC pipes, wood or steel (depends on your budget and skills). Another idea I is a couch made of carseats, but for that you need a few more seats. But if you don't like those ideas, you could just sell them.

      EF/EL Falcon XR6, one of the quickest cars that are p plate legal, handle pretty good, heaps of space, and the engine responds extremely well to mods. Can be had with manual in mint condition for 3k, and come factory with like 168kw and a short ratio LSD. That is if you are in Australia of course.

      The biggest problem are the mounting brackets, on average they are $250. Also you have to make sure the Racing Seats you buy have sliders if not you have buy them separately. Also if you want the dual harness etc For everything its $700-800!

    • @fuknames2123

      if it destroys your lower back, that means you drive with the seat at the wrong angle. Should fix that.

      +Watching TH-cam Look at anything by Recaro, you'll need to choose between a fixed or reclining seat. Also if it's a pure track only car or a car you'll be using on the road in traffic. If you're looking at using your car on the road than you'll need something with the (ABE) certification. I'd recommend the RECARO Pole Position (ABE), but you may need a reclining seat to get comfortable at your height. Hope this helps!

    Just a (hopefully) quick question. Is it always necessary to order custom brackets for seats? I ordered a seat that is supposedly "universal fit" but how can I know if a custom bracket is necessary?

    One tip that would help with the dash scratching: put something over the dash to protect it, like some towels.

    I'm hoping you can answer a question for me. I purchased a used 2019 Ford Transit. I have scoliosis and the seats are extremely uncomfortable for me. The aftermarket seats are too expensive. I was wondering if I could pull Nissan Murano seats from a salvage yard for the van? They both have airbag tags on the seats. The question I have is will the air bag wiring harness in the Ford Transit fit any seat or only aftermarket seats?
    I did look into reupholstering the seats but he says he can not change the contour, only the covering. He suggested replacing them and provided a contact for a metal fabricator to help out.

      +Alex V really? Then I'm just lucky or treat my tools better because they're still going strong several years after I bought them. The impact wrench is at least 3-4 years old and works like new!

    i think on alot of cars under the seat they have a wire for the airbag/pre tensioner which is quite important to remove :D and also taking off the negative battery terminal is a good idea

  • @carnut666
    @carnut666 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Tinydevil12
    It's a good piece of advice. You wouldn't believe how many people I know who have ripped out the seats in their vans, thrown in a couch and then called it a day.

  • @murrieteacher
    @murrieteacher 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Guys, one biggie you didn't mention was the pre tensioners. These things have an explosive charge! And then there is the air-bags too. There has been reports of triggering the air-bags while changing to sport seats. So, if your car had these things the first thing to do is either PULL THE FUSE or DISCONNECT THE BATTERY!!!!
    If any of these are activated you can make a bloody mess of the dash and get seriously injured.
