- A special half hour documentary about what goes into putting on the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square's weekly broadcast of Music & the Spoken Word. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the weekly live show as well as the history behind it.
BYUtv spent a week with the Music and the Spoken Word production team to give a behind-the-scenes look at what goes in to the weekly broadcast. The BYUtv special features interviews with key members of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir support team and details the preparations that go in to the oldest continuing nationwide network broadcast in the world.

I have known about the Mormon Tabernacle Choir since 1964, when I moved to the united States. At the house of the friends I moved into, they were great fans of the Tabernacle Choir music and of course they got me hooked into what has taken me this far in life, close to 60 years after. I must say, I have learned more and more week after week and month after month about such a great organization. Surprisingly enough, it's been today that a came across to this video, thanks to TH-cam algorithm, more than 5 years later, and I could not say less than congratulations on the great job you carry on with, to have us enjoy the final product of your magnificent effort.

I have been enjoying MATSW for decades now. My father did not allow TV in our house but we did listen to it on radio. I still ease when I hear Richard L Evans talk. He always brought great comfort to me while growing up. Then Spence Kinnard and now Lloyd Newell with the perfect and much needed comforting spoken word along with the beautiful music from the choir.
Am just full of tears seeing all of these efforts made just to help me feel peace and feel the spirit comforting of the spirit. With a warm heart burning within me, i say i love you all.
What a remarkable look behind the scenes! I loved hearing from Ed Payne, who not only is the producer of this remarkable programme, but is our host every Sunday morning here on TH-cam as a little community of 'regulars', plus many new friends gather to chat and enjoy the Broadcast. I feel as if I could say: "Hey! I know him!" when I heard him talk about his experiences with producing the programme.
I have a friend who has worked behind the scenes in many Church productions in the Tabernacle and also the Conference Centre, and over the years, she has helped me realise how much work it takes to make such seamless programmes. So, as I try to do each week when it is time to say 'God be with you 'til we meet again', I thank not only the performers of the programme, but those behind the scenes who helped bring this behind the scenes look at M&tSW to us!

Dear Brother Wilberg,
There comes a tune rare in spiritually penitrating power as heard in His Voice as the Sound of a Dulcimer Sweet. Approximately two years ago it graced my ears as performed by The Choir and directed by you. Stunningly, I froze in place so as not to miss a single note. It was played repeatedly, so I could commit it to memory. Then the lyrics of another hymn made their way into my mind to the tune of His Voice as the Sound. It was I Stand All Amazed. Again I was stunned at the beauty of the words of this old stand by, as the tune of His Voice as the Sound enfolded those words with even greater salvific meaning. I wonder, have you ever thought to combine the two? I do not have the means with which to do so other than in my mind's creation. Before I leave this earth it would be a great joy for others to hear what I hear. Many blessing to you.
Music and the Spoken Word is my favorite program and I get the privilige a sunday in June 2011 to be in the Mormon Tabernacle and to injoy the joy of Music ...

Thank you ever so much for publishing this film on TH-cam. I find it very fascinating and interesting as to how the "Music & Spoken Word" is really put together. Being a member of two choirs it was particularly interesting to see the "seating arrangement", because there are 10-15 choir and orchestra members that I always look for each week, and they seem to have the same positions for some weeks. Feel free to let the BYU team produce a longer version of this film. .
