This is probably the new version of the Torque Beast in your cart. The Torque Beast I bought/used (around 1 year ago) was then on sale and afaik discontinued.

thank you for making this video! i was looking for it!! this is exactly what i want to see and exactly what i wanted to know...about these motors i already ordered the injora 50t pro for my dead bolt...but that rochobby katana and the hobby plus 55T seem fabulous motors i was amazed how low the mhA draw was in comparation with the 66T injora (this was my pick before i saw the video) i have a 1/24 catamaran i think the 66T injora will fit there like a glove! and bump up the speed !!!!
Meanwhile Hobby Plus motors are widely available, because they also do come with Rock Van and Co.... with the newer models.
I bought servo and motor based on your videos. What a great insight! I hope there'll be a video about brushless outrunner motors too, I'm planning to have one.
The BL outrunners will break gears and driveshafts, as I show in the beginning of the video.

It is always a pleasure to see your detailed reviews! I watch them frequently and often more than once, to test a new setup idea based on your analysis. I am about to buy a new motor since my 050 was blocked once completely. I don't know which type it was, however it was a huge improvement over the 030 stock, which is in right now. I also have the PN racing ones 70T and 90T (btw. in Germany there is a distributor - SRCC devils - maybe you want to include them in your test as well), however these also have a high start voltage, as the injura 50T. I don't like that behavior very much, because it somehow makes the controlled start less predictive.

Searched for the PN-Racing SCX24 motor after release, but did not find it at RC-Devils. Will check if they now have it. However, ordering such cheap things from Germany is always super expensive because of super expensive shipping, so a 20 € motor will then be 30 - 35...
Ordering from US is mostly much cheaper, cheaper shipping, cheaper price, everything in stock (plus customs, however, but still cheaper).
But I don't hear a lot about those motors anymore, so probably not perfect, either (otherwise more people would use them).
Do have 2 Mofo mounts for PN-motors... but did not follow this route since then. Wanted to test other 130 motors (Basher torque), but found, they do not have screw thread on front to mount them. Maybe I'll check the FCX24 motor, do have 3 of those. But they are large and heavy, high COG, mostly a down in performance. Did not publish yet (and probably never will), but tested brushless: For example stock SCX24 with brushless small Mofo Nanobeast is not able to climb some of my obstacles of "MCCT" anymore, because of higher COG and lacking "punch"; even worse with the large Furitek Komodo.
I think, depending on weight of truck, 050 or even small 030 motors (super light trucks) are best for overall performance in SCX24.
@@donaldsneffe The PN racing ones have much more punch - compared to the 030 and 050 that I had so far. However as you said the CG raises up, you need a mount, gears etc.... The biggest impact that I see was weight distribution (by adding / lowering components) and the esc... modellbau-regler ;-). The 050 is a nice complement and easy to exchange.
@@georgschmidt1 Which PN-Racing motors? I did not want to buy those Mini-Z PN-Racing motors (which were available when I checked RCDevils). I wanted to test the PN-Racing SCX24 90t motor only.
BTW: Do have a brandnew Atomic 130 racing motor here (for Mini-Z), but would never test it in an SCX24.
Did you test a 90t PN-Racing motor (for exampled tested here: th-cam.com/video/e6zL9zQk8fc/w-d-xo.html and here th-cam.com/video/qSfsHV_Y0S4/w-d-xo.html ).

The PN90 is really "cheap" (not very expensive). Maybe I'll try it since I do already have the mount. However, shipping 10 € - I hate this ;-)
Hey. Crazy tester thank you for another fantastic video. We always learn from you. I requested...well asked in a fb comment holmes hobbies to send you their new 050 motors. Would be a nice addition to these tests.
I did already want to order them last week (after Harley announced them), but could not find them on his website Wednesday and Thursday. Have to check again, will order (if shipment from US is not too expensive, I will have to pay customs, too).
Answer 2: Checked his website again, still cannot find the 050 motors... Did already write to him last year (???), when he first announced the micro motors in one of his videos... that I would like to get (buy, pay) some of those for testing...

It is always a kind of game with those Chinese motors. Good luck or bad luck, also depending on batches. For example I tested 380 motors for WPL about 2 years ago. Some of those motors worked awesome in my trucks, as seen in the video. So I put the links to the motors in the description. But then people reported, that their motors, bought using the link, so the same motors, worked by far not as well as the one I showed in my vid.
But unfortunately there is no solution for this problem with the cheap Chinese products.

What I found a few days ago is when I set up hobbywing 1080 esc ± 2S lipo with stock rgt adventure v2 motor on my truck (rgt v2) is that the motor becomes hot in 3-5 minutes and I should wait for it to become cool again for another 5 minutes....After this morning run I ordered 1 motor 66t (not injora 050 motor rated as 7.4v) with another injora 050 50t motor. Maybe stock rgt v2 motor is not for 2s lipo or it because of additional weight of the truck (alum rims with brass inside and 53mm tires)... don't know by now))) maybe additional experiments will tell...
I never had problems with the RGT motors, should be the same as Barrage...
Maybe bad motor, maybe truck too heavy... who knows.

@@MangoJim90 All the 1/18 hardplastic body models from FMS/RocHobby/EazyRC have more than 400 g and a similar motor, my full metal SCX24 has far more than 400 g. All those have 050 motors.
The Capo Cub1 even ways nearly 1 kg ;-) - and has a 050 motor (but a gearmotor, and it is IMO too small).

Yes, probably - someone already commented that the new (red?) 66t does have a shorter shaft. But it still drags a lot of battery power/Amps, much more than the 50T (it is somewhere here in the comments).
I bought my 66T not long ago (Dec. 21) directly from injora.com.
Hope the new one is better. Still does not explain why a 66T motor is way faster than the 50T of the same brand, it should be the other way.

Ja, leider 36 $ Versand nach Österreich, mit Zoll und Bearbeitungsgebühr dann insgesamt ca. 100 € für die drei Motoren. Das ist mir echt zu viel (noch dazu hab ich eh x 050er Motoren hier rumliegen die alle sehr gut gehen, Injora Pro, Hobby Plus, Barrage, RGT, ...). Der "berühmte" Ox käme noch teurer (ca. 50 € mit Versand und Zoll von Ebay).
Interesting results! What do you think would be a good upgrade for FMS LC80 (which I guess uses the same motor as Rochobby Katana). Based on the results, I think the stock motor is good enough, so maybe it's better to stay with stock motor and just upgrade the ESC?! If you're going for smoothness that is.
Not sure if there is a real upgrade. If, then the Injora 50t. ESC is more important.
This test is interesting however it's only for each motor that day against another motor that day. Quality control being different at every company, even though a motor shows good here today, the next batch could be bad or so so. I think what is to glean here is that any of these motors are better than the stock motor. I don't think people going out to buy the Endura 50 turn 50 motor, is going to be better than every other motor tested simply because quality control is not the same on every batch of motor.
Very interesting test, I wonder if hobby plus 55t motor would fit in the cr-24 without mods, and if the drive shafts etc. could handle the extra torque?
It will not fit because of the link - CR-24 is 4-link without panhard bar. The CR-18 with 050 motor (Kratos, etc.) do have a panhard bar and miss a link. But the CR-18 with the 030 motor (same size as CR-24) do also have 4-link and the 050 motor will not work (without modifications).
I modded my CR-24 with the 030 torque motor of the CR-18 (but honestly do not know if this is stronger than the 030 motor of the CR-24).
Und wieder bin ich bei dir gelandet. Du bist echt konkurrenzlos Scx24 motor Forscher 👌👍😁 die mal war ich hier weil meiner im ersten Gang garnicht mehr wollte. Für mich wäre interessant welcher die niedrigste Drehzahl hat. Dank den Diagrammen weiß ich jetzt das mein injora 50t der denkbar schlechteste diesbezüglich ist. 🙄 Dank dir weiß ich jetzt das ich mit dem 66t besser dran wäre aber packt der Stock ESC so viel Amp? Unter last explodieren die amp Werte das weiß ich.
Ampere sind null Problem bei den 050 Motoren, auch auf Block. Aber pass auf, ich hab den "alten" Injora 66t mit der langen Achse getestet. Danach gab es da bei Injora einen Modellwechsel, der neue 66t hat erstens eine kurze Achse und zweitens geht der auch etwas anders (laut Hörensagen, selbst hab ich keinen).

Packt der injora 66t 3s. Der Stock Motor schafft das soviel konnte ich schon rausfinden. Natürlich mit passendem esc. Nach meiner Meinung packen die meisten Motoren mehr als der Hersteller angibt. Ich würde nur darauf achten wie es Temperatur mäßig ausschaut.

I recently bought the PN Racing 90T brushed motor and very pleased with it. I'd be interested in your thoughts compared to the motors you tested. Appreciated your work, keep 'em coming :)
I did already buy the mounts for a PN90 in last December, from Mofo USA. But I do not yet have a PN90 motor, not yet available here and super expensive ordering from USA (shipping, VAT, customs, fees).
The PN90 for sure is better/stronger than all the motors tested in this test. It is a 130 motor (as the FCX24 motor). But I do not know how it affects center of gravity etc., because it is also larger and heavier... (did not check yet with my mounts how it would sit in the truck, but I assume high).
When the PM90 will some day maybe available here for a "normal price" (I am not willing to pay 30 - 60 bucks for such a tiny motor, ... ordering from Germany, when finally be available, will also have very high, 10 - 15 €, shipping costs).
I do still have some Basher Torque motors (I used a Basher Torque in my Mini-Z 4x4), but unfortunately they do not have screw holes for mounting, so I cannot use them).
I assume the PN90 will also negativly affect driving performance, if you will not additionally upgrade your SCX24 (weight).
I tested a stock SCX24 Deadbolt with brushless motors (Mofo Torque Beast and Furitek Komodo) and Furitek Lizard ESC. Without any further modifications (ESC front, etc., but no further upgrades) performance suffers extremely compared to a stock Deadbolt without modifications. I maybe will include those test videos to my MCCT series... (Deadbolt brushless with Mofo and Komodo), but people will again hate me for this. Because those Deadbolts will not be able to do all tests, worse in hill of branches, cannot do it, because they lack punch and have a higher center of gravity. Yes, they do have much more torque and much, much better slow crawl... but in a competition they would loose against a stock Deadbolt.
I assume the PN90 does have much more punch than the brushless motors. Not sure, how this motor will affect COG, if it can do the hill of branches of MCCT, and the hill of pebble stones...
I still think, for a "normal" (not super, super heavy) SCX24 a 050 motor such as the Hobby Plus CR-18 torque motor (or the Injora) are the way to go.
After doing so many tests I am not a fan of the brushless setups (and still think, people are ripped off, ... new motor, new ESC, ... every few months). But a lot of people who like to sell hate me for this ;-)
PN90: I'd like to test it... after this I can tell my opinion (= experience).
@@donaldsneffe I'm in the UK, totally agree shipping fees from USA are too expensive.
I have the PN90 with stock v2 ESC in my modded Deadbolt, extra weight, hub extensions, bigger battery, etc. I also flipped the skid plate allowing the PN90 to be mounted to the back. This allowed my battery to remain up front and help with weight distribution.
The motor does sit higher, but my shocks are modded to add some droop and help with COG. This setup works very well for my Deadbolt.
I have the Furitek Stinger brushless kit in my modded Gladiator, running with stock v1 ESC from my Deadbolt. I'm not impressed. The price of the brushless setup is not worth it in my opinion and the PN90 setup performs much, much better. I have some 3S lipo's coming, hope this will improve the performance of the Gladiator.

@@errolmc I will buy a PM-90 as soon I will find one for a reasonable price. I did not find a big difference in 3s compared to 2s (made a video), but end speed. Of course also more powerful... but I honestly do not miss power in most 2s setups.
V1 ESC/RX should run on 3s I heared, but never tried in mine. Brushed.
Since I do "only" have the old Lizard ESCs (not the newer Pro) I cannot try 3s on my BL, ... but I have 3 of those and won't order the new ones only for trying 3s... too expensive (no matter if from Furitek Vietnam, or Asiatees, RCMart, Amain, Mofo, ...).
You won't believe, it is not shipping, it is customs and handling fee (of customs). Shipping from US to Austria is in most shops 5 - 10 $ only (recently ordered from FairRC for 10, Amainhobbies is even cheaper, around 5 for small shipments, Mofo is 10). Ordering from Germany for me has higher shipping costs (10 - 20 €). Since July 1st 2021 we cannot order small orders (< 22 €) without custom declaration (and "handling charge") anymore (only Aliexpress and Banggood, they pay VAT for us customers), and this is what makes small orders so expensive now.
We also cannot order anymore from UK, unfortunately, without custom clearance. I ordered quite a lot from UK before, when you were still in EU, via Ebay.uk mostly, because your shops have a much larger selection in for example air brush colours (Vallejo, Tamiya) and similar things and prices are much cheaper there than here. But now this is gone, small orders 10 - 20 GBP, mainly because of the handling fee of our customs (6 - 15 €). VAT (20%) ist not the problem.

my late 050 was with carbon brushes, really strong very fast, but draws to much amps... 12/6 modelbauregler esc can't give enough with transmitter in high... only on the floor, not while crawling rocks
Mine work perfectly with 050 motors.
Maybe you have good luck with the dirtcheap motor. The Hobby Plus 55T was also dirtcheap, paid 4 bucks for it two years ago. Actually it is 6 bucks.
The bardwell comment maybe why I’ll wait for the whole video. I liked him for my Fpv but there are specific guys better that I watch today. and I stopped Fpv and got into crawlers a month ago. I’m 6 crawlers down
5fms with upgrades and one Scx24 can I swap an fcx24 whole electronics to the Scx24 with only minor cutting or is it hard. I heard the electronics are trash the throttle modulation is bad I’m waiting for my Scx24 power wagon from singapore to India

Yes, that is correct. The injora 66t is red and black. They made the change a few months back. Still looking forward to the comparison between the two. Haven’t gotten there yet.

At least in the motors that I have, both purchased in the last few months, one noted difference is that the 50t injora is much more efficient on battery life, than the 66t.
@@texomarc Thats also what my measurements show. However, most other motors tested are even much more efficient than the 50T Injora ;-)

By the way, just a sticking point, there’s no way for your motor test to ever approach being science. It’s just technology and data logging. still cool but not science. Reliability of the test could be increased but you’re not studying the cause of an observed natural phenomenon. Semantics, I know, but words and their meanings are quite important! People have misused this word to mislead people into believing they have empirical evidence, when they often only have a bit of maths, or like yourself in this video, facts/data to be interpreted.

I wanted to know low end torque. 8amps of torque really isn't a crawler thing. More important is what motor is going to stall less. Pulling up to a rock/hill at slow crawl and not having gun it.
So that's why I couldn't find any Torque Beast motor anywhere.
I've been looking everywhere and I was wondering why there are none available on any website.
Guess only MofoRC sells those, and they were already reduced for sale at the time I did make this video.
hello again, I hope I don't bother you with so many questions, a couple of hours ago the motor that came with my c10 died, and I took it out, but before throwing it away I got curious and tried it loose and it didn't work, but I took out the rectifiers and my surprise was that it worked. now forwards works at 60% and backwards at 100%. I tried it with different esc and the same. If I keep using it, will the esc be damaged?
No danger for the ESC. Seems timing is now totally off... but in such a motor it is not really possible to set it.
Bist du den Injora 50 auch schon gefahren ? Habe jetzt mehrere Kommentare gelesen daß sich der im unteren Bereich nicht gut regeln lässt, erst gar nichts passiert und dann plötzlich. Das klingt nicht gut, werde ihn demnächst einbauen. Hoffe daß er das nicht macht, schwierig mit Alternativen. Holmes verrechnet 40 Euro Porto. (Ebenso wie Littleguyracingparts, wollte Swamp Kings bestellen, 50 Euro Porto (und das nach Nachfrage, vorher wars noch mehr.) - Injora portofrei aus China, frage mich wie das geht.
Holmes ist 36 $, plus natürlich Zoll (EUSt., Gebühr). Ich bestelle die drei Motore deshalb auch nicht.
Injora ist erst ab 50 $ portofrei. Injora 50t Motor kriegst über Amazon.de im Doppelpack übrigens billiger als von Injora.com, billiger als Injora auf Ali sowieso, witzig... ich weiß nicht ob es das Angebot noch gibt. Hab 3 50t Injoras (1 injora.com, 2 Amazon.de), hab sie aber noch nicht gefahren... weil ich mit den Hobby Plus etc. eh sehr zufrieden bin. Dass der Injora 50 t "unten" schlechter reagiert sagen ja auch meine Messungen aus...
RC4WD hat z.B. aus den USA nur 10 $ Porto, Amainhobbies tw. nur 5 $, ... aber kommt überall natürlich noch EUSt. plus Gebühr dazu. Diese 36 $ sind also nicht in Stein gemeißelt...
Wenn ich was in Deutschland bestell, zahl ich da normalerweise deutlich mehr Porto als wenn ich was in den USA bestelle... deshalb bestell ich auch so gut wie nie in Deutschland, aber oft in den USA (und China sowieso).
Also für mich fährt der Injora 50 T super, mehr "slow crawl" und langsames Anfahren ist kaum vorstellbar. Mit dem Modellbauregler. Wo krieg ich denn den Hobby Plus?
@@snorrevonflake Ich bezweifle das ja nicht. Du hast ja geschrieben, dass die Leute sagen "nicht so gut". Ich bin ihn wie gesagt noch nicht gefahren, obwohl ich 3 hab. Im Test war halt "ganz LV" nicht so gut, was aber null heißen muß, da der Motor ja mit Getriebe und Fahrstrang ganz anders reagiert. Ich muß ihn halt mal testen...

Do you think Katana/LC80 stock motor is good enough for a 750 grams LC80/Katana? I just burned a stock Rochobby Fire Horse motor, and fire horse is 650 grams. I don't want LC80 motor to be next. :(
Fire Horse is 650 g? Really? I do not have the Fire Horse, but the "cheaper" Arizona, and all the Katana/LC80/Patriot and Co.s and those are about 100 g lighter.
I do have 2 (rubber) driver figures in my Katana, wheel weights... but 750 g?
Good enough? It will for sure run it, but not be super strong in such a heavy truck. I cannot give you an answer, the Katana/LC80 is a trail truck, but if you push it super hard, for example full speed for long or hardcore-crawling/climbing, the motor will fade away sooner or later.
Unfortunately I do not know which other motor to recommend... do not know if the Injora 50T holds up better. Guess you'll have to replace your 050 motors regulary if you really push your 750 g LC80 and drive it a lot.
@@donaldsneffe Thank you for taking the time to reply, it's greatly appreciated. Both Fire Horse and LC80 have a few weight upgrades and action figures and scale accessories, but I just double checked and Fire Horse is actually 646 grams, and LC80 is 700 grams. Anyway I ordered 2 stock motors for now. I also ordered Lane Boys RC light controller. But I'm waiting for ASX24-Crawler to be re-stocked. :(
@@eventhor1z0n They seem to have big problems to buy chips. About 2 month ago the boss told me, it is impossible to get chips... independent of price. He could only get 200 and not one more... and those are probably sold out.
Hopefully this stupid "chip shortage situation" worldwide will end soon...
BTW: This is also the reason, why Modellbau-Regler.de does not yet want to get distributors in the USA or UK.

I searched a bit for smaller scales, also "spring-scales", but could not anything appropriate (up to about 10 kg), and good spring-scales (do not know the word in English) are very expensive.
Fishing scales are also up to 50 kg.
I do 3 types of those cheap luggage/fishing scales, all work fine. I use this silver one, because the display can be read easiest on camera.
If you do know an appropriate scale, which would be better (and not too expensive), please post a link.

It is so hard to get here and very expensive. Shipping, customs and handling fee would make this motor 40 - 50 bucks for me, similar to the Holmes 050 motors or the Ox.

@@demomicrocrawlerclub It comes with 12t pinion, plastic (if I remember correctly, Hobby Plus and RGT come with 12t, EazyRC with 10t). Of course you can share the video on FB. My FB name is my real name, Walter Lechner (pic with cigarette on a small boat), but I do not use FB a lot for RC stuff...

@@demomicrocrawlerclub plastic I don't think so (can check small servo gears for this). Metal yes, but they are rather pricy. Guess Mofo does have 10t, and the Polish gearshop (we used for microheli gear purchase years ago) does for sure have such gears. But not cheap... shop.kkpmo.com/index.php?language=en&=&=

Is the hobby plus motor the cr-18?
Yes, it is also in the Rock Van and the T-Finder, so now also available as spare part for those (FairRC).

I need to look how to remove the stock one too.
Only experience I have is trying to remove them from 550 a motor on kids ride on cars. Iv never been able to remove them and destroyed the motor.
@@gilmo5994 It comes glued on. For metal pinion you will use permanent (red or green) threadlock, for plastic, if necessary, CA.
You do not have to remove the pinion. I have pinion pullers (from my helis and microhelis), but for the first part I use something thin, small... (pointed forceps - but it will be bent, or a tiny flathead screwsdriver - danger of being bent, too, or the side part of a thin metal ruler, ...). Removing is often quite difficult...
