- Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish climate activist, made an impassioned plea for the planet at the European Parliament on Tuesday (16 April), urging MEPs to “start panicking about climate change” rather than “waste time arguing about Brexit”.
In another impressive speech to EU officials, this time in front of the Parliament’s environment committee, Thunberg told MEPs that “I want you to act like the house is on fire. I want you to panic.”
The activist acknowledged that “some parties don’t want me here today because they so desperately don’t want to talk about climate breakdown” but reiterated that “it’s ok if you ignore me but you can’t ignore the science”.
Drawing parallels with Monday night’s tragic inferno that ripped through the roof of Paris’ Notre-Dame cathedral, Thunberg hoped “that our civilisation’s foundations are even stronger than Notre-Dame’s. I fear that they are not.”
She added that “if the house was falling apart, you wouldn’t waste time arguing about Brexit” and that “permanent and unprecedented changes” are needed, including making sure that emissions are cut by at least 50% by 2030. The current target is 40%.

The UN isn't only useless and UNelected...it is behind this whole Climate Change hoax. There is a reason renewable energy is getting such a big push, and the reason is that hard scientific evidence proved that people WERE in fact destroying the planet. You don't put billions of dollars of research into solar power research if your coal plants are not harming the planet and can continue forever. Polar ice caps melting, record heatwaves in Europe, average global temperatures steadily increasing since 1980, all these are hard facts and not some child's fantasy. Yes you can bury your head in the sand and sit back and relax, as you will be long gone before the real issues start hitting, but some of us like to think about preserving the planet for future generations.

It's a simple metaphor used to communicate that humanity (despite having the long term pragmatic solutions) is not acting on them and consequently need a "fire" lit under them for urgency. Also just because someone is speaking on one (very important) point does not make them ignorant of other points, that argument would ironically make no logical sense to assert. It would be a better use of energy to search the real root of our frustration here and pivot it into positive action as seen above.

I bring a laundry basket and/or soft large cooler to the store with me. This reduces the use for any type of bag and also allows me to make less trips from the house to the car. Lol. I have also encouraged my friends to NOT use straws-yes, they sometimes tease me. We try to recycle/reduce/reuse respectfully and have done this for YEARS.

Human contribution to CO2 is a fraction of that minute component. You could kill every human being on the planet and it wouldn't make one bit of difference. You could also tax and spend yourself into bankruptcy, and it won't make a difference. The main causes of warming are sun activity and water vapour, not CO2. Despite rising CO2 there was a pause in warming that lasted a decade. There certainly is no observable warming where I am living, quite the opposite. It was just announced that the first snow is expected within a week. It's still August. The previous winter started in September and ended in May, a full month sooner and later than normal. Deforestation and agricultural practices like plowing and tilling are changing micro and macro climates, and this is being ignored. Instead everyone focuses on CO2, because that is where the grant money is. In short, Greta is either driven by the irrational fear the agenda is drilling into people's heads, or she has been groomed for the task on purposes, to be a 'spokesperson' (though not with a scientific basis), but in either case she is spreading falsehood, because there is no such thing as a single factor in changing climate, and CO2 is one of the most irrelevant ones, but the one factor whereby our entire existence can be threatened through destructive policy (not CO2).

“What’s for breakfast?” interjected The Angry Beaver whose head was hurting.
"Fresh, range-fed chicken eggs,” replied her godmother. “Raw.”

“But I want poached eggs like my Aunt Tilda makes,” lamented The Angry Beaver.
“Tilda died this morning,” the godmother explained. “Bacterial pneumonia.”
“What?!” interjected The Angry Beaver.. “No one dies of bacterial pneumonia! We have penicillin.”
“Not anymore,” explained godmother “The production of penicillin requires chemical extraction using isobutyl acetate, which, if you know your organic chemistry, is petroleum-based. Lots of people are dying, which is problematic because there’s not any easy way of disposing of the bodies since backhoes need hydraulic oil and crematoriums can’t really burn many bodies using as fuel Swedish fences and furniture, which are rapidly disappearing - being used on the black market for roasting eggs and staying warm.”
