I wish I knew how to spell that alarm sound a truck, for example, makes when backing up. I find Romans 7 is given to us to assist in its ultimate goal of v. 4: "to bring forth fruit unto God." What interferes with the Jn. 15:2 process of more Fruit coming forth in a believer? A. The remaining selfish motives of our heart, and the mind not yet sufficiently renewed (two of the 3 parts of the new man, which along with the new spirit of the New Birth....) How does the Christian have victory over the CONSIDERED-deceased old man and its selfish heart which doesn't want to love, rebelliously doesn't want to submit to Faith, etc; how does the Christian have victory over a yet-renewed mind which doesn't cast out the accusations once a common voice of the old man, cast out the alleged futility of holiness once the self-condemning accusations of the old man, etc., etc.: by knowing that they know that they know, the old man is now nonexistent when we'reborn from Above. The NT believer doesn't have the struggle described in Romans 7. The battle for them is in the mind in casting down imaginations....whatsover things are just....your sinful life is dead and buried with Christ...(para.); and in the heart: "purify your heart....I must decrease....but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts..." 7 reinforces 6.
