I have seen St. Paul several times including a small 50 person private show where he sang a song about his grandfather and he completely broke down and had to leave the room. It was heart-wrenching and endearing.

Have had the pleasure of following these fellow Birmingham/North Alabama natives since 2013. At their early shows they would play originals for the first set, then cover an old album for the second set. First time I saw them they played through Otis Redding's Blue album top to bottom. Didn't miss a note. Unreal.

These guys are from the same area I'm from. You ought to try and get tickets for their shows when they're in town. Ridiculous

I'm in Avondale Brewery, Birmingham AL, in about 2013 or 14 (?) and I hear the buzz about the live band they are going to have. I'm sitting minding my own brew with a couple of fiends, when they break into "Call Me" and I had my official "Oh Holy Shit!" moment! Now, as a southern kid who grew up in the 60s, this is right up my alley! It was a memorable night, to say the least! I was lucky enough to catch them and Alabama Shakes together in Tuscaloosa, and that's a lot to take in at once! Sometimes, when you have such a powerful vocal presence, the band's musicianship gets overlooked, as could be the case with Paul and The Bones, but they are excellent players! Here's "Call Me" give it a listen! th-cam.com/video/z7s9A3s8iv8/w-d-xo.html

Retro soul has been a nice movement over the last 10 years or so. St Paul, Sharon Jones, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Paperboy Reed, Leon Bridges, Alabama Shakes, etc.

All the music videos you breakdown are all in favourites list and that makes me think my odd eclectic taste in music isn’t as bad as some of my friends and coworkers think. 👍👍
