    Blade of elendil really is a crappy skill in yellow as it removes battle hardened

      Good point! You should use blade of elendil right before battle hardened wears off.

    I'm pretty sure that Battle-hardened is the best state to use Inspire (XYZ-Brother) and Rallying Cry since it buffs your outgoing healing. Like others have said, Battle-hardened also reduces incoming damage, so you want to stay in that state as long as possible when you're tanking. Maybe mix in Cutting Attack, Grave Wound, and/or another Sure Strike while Battle-hardened.

    1. Very good tip, a lot of players don't know about this.
    2. Eventhough what you said is true, you should slot finesse to counter BPE's. Running behind the boss will put fellows at risk of heavy frontal damage and you do not want to do this.
    3. Good rotation with the expeption of Blade of Elendil. It removes Battle Hardened which you don't want in tank. Spam Sure Strike as well to shorten the CD on Battle Shout for better Battle Hardened upkeep. Only ever use it to remove a corruption if Cleanse Corruption is unavailbe and if you can apply Battle Hardened soon after again. You also get shitloads of Defeat responses from partial avoidances, so you don't even need the Elendil's Fury trait, even if it wasn't broken.
    4. Less then 5 points does NOT drop the banner UNDER you, it drops it on the enemy you targetted it at.
    5. Should indeed be traited in all roles unless traiting very specific or specialized.

    • @ghynghyn4706
      @ghynghyn4706  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. Agreed
      2. Yes slotting some finesse is always a good idea, but there are many instances where you can start behind the boss and use grave wound as your first taunt, then reinforce with threatening shout.
      3. Everything you are saying is correct, however I've found that you can use blade of elendil just as battle shout is about to come off cooldown. This way you don't lose battle-hardened and you also get that one hit mitigated by 20%.
      4. I know, this was my mistake and has already been pointed out by other comments.
      5. Very true.
      Thank you for feedback!

      @@ghynghyn4706 Yep, ig you use Blade of Elendil, you should do it when you can reaplly Battle-Hardened immediatly as you said!
      About the taunts, i've watched your Guardian video too and there you give the very good tip of waiting with challenge as long as possoble. This is the single best tip you can give to tanks. As a captain you don't have threat skills like a guardian does so you can only rely on your taunts to copy aggro for you. You also can't permanently force aggro an enemy like guardian with Fray the Edge. Therefore you should never use a taunt as first skill, if you do you will have force aggro for 3s but not have copied any aggro, you'll have to use your second taunt to do this and you will in this case almost certainly lose aggro and have to wait for your taunt to come off CD. The probability of losing aggro this way increases with the higher the DPS output of your DPS players is and the amount of them you have in the group
      What I do is use Battle-Shout first, it doesnt say in the tooltip, but it does actualy have a threat modifier. It will buy you 2-3s of aggro and meanwhilke the DPS'ers can already put out some DPS. Then use your first taunt. It doesn't really matter which, but i prefer threatening shout as it can't resist and just incase the enemy runs away you can still taunt it if its out of melee range. Use Grave Wound as soon as the 3s force aggro runs out. This way you have copied maximum aggro with your two taunt skills and won'be losing aggro after throwing a third taunt.
      My apologies then for writing about the banner, i didn't intend to me rude, just pointing it out :)

      @@captainfearendur5566 Pointing out my mistakes isn't being rude at all, I'm happy to learn from other players.
      As a captain, tanking a single target is easy if you can start behind the target. Grave him from behind means you hold aggro for 5s, then you shout after you lose him and you should be fine for until your next taunt comes back. I also couple this with noble mark and it seems like it's working fine.
      If you can't start behind the target, what's working for me is threatening shout initially, pop make haste, and grave when you lose aggro and he turns around. Same strategy only different order. As long as you are reactive enough it works just fine.
      If I'm maintanking trash mobs as a captain I pop strength in numbers and as many heals as possible before I go in to help keep aggro for as long as possible, and then you use your aoe thereating shout when you feel like you might lose the mobs. Seems to be working fine so far.

      @@ghynghyn4706 What you said about when you can't start from behind is basically what I do in any siutation. I'm just delaying threatening shout a bit and using Grave Wound earlier to be safe instead of the other way around. Both works and I always think you can do anything as long as it works, and most importantly you feel confident in doing it.
      What can work too for AoE tanking is using your Routing Cry stun, it doesn't make you keep aggro but it prevents the DPS'ers from being hit and especially form the enmies running away, giving you extra time to hold off on threatening shout. I usually pop rallying cry, and hit enemies with the banner, and after a few seconds when i feel they will change aggro stun them. Doesn't work really well with many targets though.

    The banner does not drop under you, it drops on your target, the reason for having 5 traits into it is because your banner can be bped and nullified.

    Hi I wanted to play as a duo fellowship with a friend who will play Champion. Is yellow captain good as tank/buff/healer or should I just go pure tank with guardian? Thanks.

    • @ghynghyn4706
      @ghynghyn4706  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are playing normal landscape questing with a friend who is a champion, then going redline will make him stronger and your damage stronger. If you come across some harder content, then you can just switch to yellow line to be a bit tankier. Captain/champ is a good combo for questing.

      Captains have their herald with them that gives 2% to mits in tankline, 2% dmg in redline etc.
      You can also trait for a banner like in tankline you can trait for incoming healing banner that you can throw out if you put all points into it. Likewise you have a banner in redline which gives more damage to the people inside the radius of that banner.
      If you don't put maximum points (x/5) the banner will instead drop on top of the enemy you are targetting, but it can get resisted just like a normal attack.

    0:18 you traited a broken trait called elendils fury. Read the forum, it's broken.

      So from what I can see it looks like it gives a defeat response, but it will not give you the effects of a defeat response, correct?

    • @whitegoliath
      @whitegoliath 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ghynghyn4706 yes and theres a lot more to it, elendil is being useless vs the hardened state, in hardened state u have a -15% inc dmg perma for all lines. once u press elendil, u get a one tick 20% reduction on inc dmg, but u leave hardened. I dont trait it as I sometimes dont have time to press elendil in exactly the last second, and being it's pretty broken too.
      1:15 captains should use all skills from behind, thats pretty logic
      2:41 thats the pre-rotation for red and blue, these go entirely different after that. for yellow its different too.
      You also didnt mention battle states...
      5:25 using elendil is restricted during raid when theres Crowd control done, because you'll trigger a mob that's being CC'd during the RNG chance.
      6:15 pls dont bother with elendil's fury
