I keep fresh ginger in the freezer so if I feel the slightest sign of a cold I grate the ginger with the skin on add hot water and honey. I add as much ginger as I can tolerate, i do the stir and sip method so i get the benefit of all the grated ginger. I have 4 or 5 cups a day and paracetamol if needed. I haven't had a cold in over 10 years now. Hope you feel better soon
Hi there. Ooh that's such a good idea! And must work too, ten years is impressive! I'll have to see if I can get hold of some and freeze it for these occasions. Thank you for the tip! Many best wishes for 2025. 🙏🏻✨🙏🏻
Same here.. also make some carrot and ginger soup
@kiddcapri1711 I actually have that planned for next week. Hopefully fight off any lingering symptoms. 😊
Hi Vickie,
I was sick over Christmas. Must have had mild Covid. I feel fine but am stuck with this ruddy cough! I tried your simmer pot. Had apples but no oranges so I put in some lemon juice and all the spices. I just poured myself a cup and added a teaspoon of honey. It’s delicious! I’m hoping it will stop these coughing spasms that seem to hit me in the evening. It sure is a comforting drink! 🙏🏻😊🇨🇦
@@judith4985 Oh no, I'm sorry to hear you've been sick. I hope it helps with the cough. Jason and I still have a lingering cough too but this does help soothe it. Here's to you getting better and the cough going soon. ❤️❤️✨

@@trina415 Lol, I know. Think I'm just a bit funny with mushrooms! Happy New Year to you and yours too. Thank you being here. 🙏🏻✨
Your good old mince and tatties looked delicious! Good winter comfort food. I will be making some with suet dumplings this week too. Sorry to hear you have the nasty virus. We have all been very poorly before and during festive period too. Couple trips to AnE for myself and the grandbaby too. But we all survived and managed to create a wonderful Christmas and New year despite all that. The old remedies really are the best, i v v rarely visit a doc or hospital. and do believe in the power of ginger and many other remedies. Wishing you good health and a swift recovery.❤
@@scarlett918 Thank you. I hope all your family are well on the mend too and feeling much better. I'm drinking lemon and ginger like it's going out of fashion so I hope it'll ease soon. There are lots of nasties going around. ✨🙏🏻✨
Sacrilege!!! Mushroom stalks are my favourite thing ever!! 😮 but a lovely simple recipe, warming and easy

I love the simmer pot and had forgotten that it was something my mum always did when I was a child. Thank you for reminding me . I’ll be reviving the tradition.
Ps……I’m in love with the sous chef 🐶
@MollyDaniels-nu6lx Aw he is the best little sous chef. Thank you, I hope so too and I'm really happy to have reminded you of your mum's traditions. A very happy new year to you. ✨🎉✨

In in Lancashire we also do mince like that with dumplings on top
@@debbieingham5872 I'm from Yorkshire but live in Lancs now so it's definitely a Northern dish by the sounds of it. 😊

@@BETTYBOOTHSHACKLETON Hi! Thank you for your comment. My other half doesn't either. 🤣 Think it's all down to personal taste. I'm sure I'll soon be on the mend, thank you! 😊✨

Welcome to the channel! Thank you, yes it eased the sore throat and breathing issues, just need to make some more now for the rest of the family! I hope you enjoy the channel. ❤️🙏🏻✨
For some reason the 'like' button isn't working, I'll try again later.
@@Mrs.S-UK No worries, TH-cam does that sometimes. No one quite knows why. ✨
Hope you are feeling better
@@JanetMckeever Thank you. ☺️ I'm sure it'll soon pass.
Hi Vickie
Really hope your not getting what me and my husband have .. very nasty and iv been whacked since xmas eve.
I'm usually on the go 24/7 but even just walking to the shop floored me lol
We went to the docs the other day and we both have ear infections and chest infections.
Keep warm and take care 🙂
Hope the drink helps .. I usually make a lemon one and it soothed my throat a little.
@@TraceysCookingNAllotment Hi. I hope you're feeling better soon too. It does knock you for six. I think it's just a strong cold from my little relatives but it's taking some shifting! Sounds like you and hubby are really struggling, hopefully docs can give you something to help on the mend. It seemed to, but I've also been on the honey and lemon today so fingers crossed. Wishing you a Happy Healthy New Year and that you're soon better. ✨❤️✨
@thewitcheshearth yeah we got 500mg penicillin and it's helped thankfully but we just whacked now.
Hoping to get some fresh air tomorrow as we are not back to work until Monday 😁
@traceysallotmentNcooking I'm glad they've given you something to help! Yes fresh air will help blow any germs away. All back at work tomorrow here and I need to cut back the garden before it snows! ✨
New subscriber... my Mum used to make mince mash and carrots all the time for tea. I'm from Manchester. I haven't had it for years. Yours looks delish. Did you put anything in to thicken it up? Take care and hope you feel better soon xx
Welcome to the channel! I just let it cook down and added some beef stock. Usually I'd add some cornflour or gravy browning but it didn't need it this time. It's definitely an old comfort food. ❤️✨
@thewitcheshearth got the mince defrosting as we speak for tomorrow's tea 😉❤
If you had eaten the apple and orange every day you would have fought off the virus 😂🤣
@@Theyellowchild Thank you for your comment and interaction. Unfortunately even though I eat a lot of fruit and veg and even grow it, sometimes viruses are passed along. After all, COVID is a form of the cold virus and no amount of eating apples and oranges could combat it. However, symptoms can be eased and that was the aim. Happy New Year to you. ✨
@ you need to supplement with vitamin D3 at least 10,000 units with K2 and at least 1000units of vitamin c I haven’t had any virus in at least 15 years ,no one in the uk gets enough natural vitamin D especially in the winter try it you’ll notice a difference hope you’re feeling better and my comment was rather tongue in cheek 😁have a good 2025 good ,interesting Chanel
Instead of all that fat eat and cook some chicken soup.drink lots of water.
I never peel a mushroom just brush with a piece of kitchen paper towel and fry or add to dish. I’m 73and healthy.
