Sure is! Can’t wait for spring when he’s back in the garden. He doesn’t plant until Easter, so we’ve got a ways to go.

He really is. He doesn’t plant until after Easter, but I’m ready to learn more this spring. 😃

I also live in 9B in South Louisiana. I just planted 40 blueberries, one mandarin Satsuma, three Owari, one Hamlin Orange, And eight Arctic frost satsumas, one Persian lime, one Lisbon lemon, and one LSU purple fig. I planted the blueberries bordering the sidewalk so people walking by can pick it

I'm getting ready to plant. I live near Ponchatoula. Saw your list. Sounds like good stock. Was wondering how they're thriving?

@@ewetoobblowzdogg8410 The satsumas get leafminers and aphids from time to time which you can get rid of with neem oil. Good idea to check them every day on the new leaves. You don’t have to get crazy with the poison because eventually the beneficial insects will come in and wipe them out but until then you can take your finger and wipe the aphids off if you see them, just follow the ants. As for the blueberries the most important thing for them is make absolutely sure the soil is in the correct pH range because the soil where you live will be about seven but blueberries take pH 4.5 to 5.5 so get a meter and check the soil After you water it for best results. I tried to use sulfur to lower the soil pH but it takes too long. You can mix a cup of vinegar per gallon and water the blueberries with that once a week until you get the pH to five. After that you want to sprinkle sulfur around the plants once in the spring and once in the fall. If you plan on planting blueberries next year dig the holes now and mix in A lot of sulfur; most likely 4 to 5 times what the instructions say because you’ll be going from pH 7 to 5 and the soil most likely has a decent amount of clay which is why you have to increase it significantly. After eight weeks check the pH of the soil if it’s not low enough repeat it again. That’s one of the best pieces of advice for your blueberries to be successful bc when your pH is that far off it’s the equivalent of putting your plants on a starvation diet and they can’t access certain minerals when the pH is wrong. I received on my blueberries were spider mites and I killed them using spinosad which is a safe organic pesticide. Neem oil also works. my figs have done well with no problems other than it seems they are susceptible to fungus and the leaves will get spotted that’s why it’s probably good to put some pine straw around the base of those and the spring spray them with copper fungicide before they start producing

@ do you have any recommendations for soil pH for your blueberries? I’m assuming in most cases that people have to lower the pH

I`m right on the 9a line. Even figs freeze here in recent years. But I planted 6 here since 2022, 4 dwarf everbearing mulberry, and 2 pineapple guava up close to my camper so I can run a cord out with a light and plastic to try to protect them next winter. Maybe it won`t get near zero for a few years again until the trees can get established. This yard had no soil so just to have a garden is a slow process of hauling in forest soil in a wagon with disabilities. But I have to if I want fresh food because I have no car.

I'm waiting to plant at my next house. I currently have a fig tree that I'll leage with. The next owner. I agree a little something all year round.

I was really hoping for some visuals considering there's such a lack of information on zone 9A and 9B. I guess Floridians just don't like the film how and what they're doing

We’re in south Louisiana and this gentleman lives a good drive away from me. I’m honored when I get to go visit. I don’t know that it’s that so many don’t like filming, but the time that editing takes. I’ve made many videos that have never seen TH-cam because of editing time and my family/homestead/business getting priority. Hopefully I can get back to longer for videos again soon.
