The E60 is the true king. Not the most popular / prettiest but 5L v10 and the last NA M5. I love the E39 and definitely think it’s the best looking, but having driven both e39 and e60. The V10 is a world beater. Shame about the reliability 😅
@@gregs8685 A fantastic looking, great handling, 4 door family car, with a V8 engine, and you complain the steering is not that good. Yes it had recirculating ball because of the engine position, so a rack couldn't be fitted, but it wasn't 'bad' steering, just not as good a BMW hydraulic (which just happens to be brilliant). It was built to a superb quality, absolutely solid and great materials. Peak BMW quality I'd say, and I have owned 6 in my last 7 cars.
I don't know what's wrong with me - maybe I've just watched too much M539_Restorations, but I think the E60 M5 is a beautiful car. Everyone hates on it, but I think it's all class. And the sound of that V10!!!!!

This guy is a gem, when someone attempted to steal my E61 and insurance was fighting me the owner of this garage chatted me for a bit about the value of E61's and was willing to use his past sold E61's for comparable.
I am betting the dealer owner uses his dealership to build this collection. It can be legitimately considered marketing for the dealership, so company funds can be used to buy, restore, maintain and store the cars as business expenses which lower the corporate taxable income. Genius!
You half to drive it like a manual, where you blip the throttle between shifts. The problem is when you mistime the blip, the car jerks and you look like a 16 year old learning to drive stick for the first time
@@Edison73100 ugh. SMG in automode is massive failure. Not as smooth as DCT/torque converter auto. And since I have to “learn” how to drive it, why not just drive a manual then? I have had both e39 m5 and e60 m5 smg. Never had e60 m5 6speed. Loved the v10 but the SMG was definitely not loved. There’s a good reason why SMG is dead.

Incredible collection. If it were me I would be on the lookout for a euro M5 and M635csi to replace the North American M5 and M6. I would also get rid of the E36 M3 Lightweight and get a euro E36 M3 with a real M engine.
I'm with you. The E36 Eurospec gets no love, it's weird. Never understood why the Lightweight got all the attention. I owned one of the 45 and it was glorious.

The E28 M5 does it for me ..... most BMW M's are and always will be special machines , but show me a mint E28 M5 and I will be dribbling. I agree that that the exhaust exit being slightly off centre is weird.... not sure Why BMW did that ?

The SMG is not a terrible transmission if you know what you are doing. You have to learn how to tell it what you want it to do.

That M Coupe (E36/8) is an S52 engined car. Model years 2001 and 2002 have the S54.
This one is a 2002 S54 model.
Except it absolutely isn’t. It has black gauges and a flat M badge so no. I have a 2001 S54 since new and know these cars backwards. Sorry mate

On my E90, if I press and hold the ESP button for 5 seconds, traction control will disengage completely. Might be the same on the E46😎
On the e46 you press the button once and it disables everything. These cars you're either all on or all off.

Engineers at BMW thought it made sense. Having owned an E28, I personally like the off center look.
