Thank you Liv! You made me realize that I want to do an offline training and also a bit down the line, when I'm more consistent with my own practice.

Also online training is great for introverts… they don’t have to engage too deeply in the discussions and conversations. Can keep it surface level with everybody. No unnecessary closeness and icky fake friendships.

This makes me SOOO happy with the training school I went to. I got so much more than what you said was missing. It took lots of research to find a school I jived with but I'm so glad I did it. My instructors were awesome.

They’ve really increased in popularity this year due to lockdowns but have existed for longer!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on online yoga teacher trainings. Do you think they're a good idea??

Thanks Liv. On your recommendation I took YWC 200 hrs RYTT. It was the best thing that happened to me in this lockdown 👌. Thanks for recommending.
Teachers were experienced & dedicated, course schedule was thorough, very responsive, homework system worked perfect, live teaching was strictly monitored & rated. Overall nothing I could ask more. 🙏

Cultural appropriation? Isn't the entirety of yoga in the west appropriated? We can't really do much about it.

  • @santikim8134
    @santikim8134 2 ปีที่แล้ว

This question could indeed be incorporated within training, perhaps?
At least, if nothing else, just to touch on cultural appropriation of ‘Yoga’ and explore this.
Very deep and rich enquiry to bring into our yoga practices.
My first thoughts on this were ‘intention’.
Next - origins and meaning of yoga.
Recuperation comes to mind - how something authentic is taken and sold back to us in it’s shadow form. I comprehend this to mean - the life taken out of it.
I have said for years that in the west we eat this beautiful fruit and as the sweet, juices trickle down our chins, we enjoy this consumption.
The problem being that the seed (bija) has been taken out of the fruit.
So, if our intention is to honour this traditional Indian system (India does not have a monopoly on what we call ‘yoga’ but much of what we draw from comes from a system created within India) and we make every effort to truly learn the traditional practices of yoga, deepening our knowledge, are we then
Culturally appropriating this Indian System of Yoga?
Just this one question deserves a 200 hour course. If we don’t want to join the long western cultural line of ‘I want one - consumerism’.
Hopefully even those of us who start off on the wrong foot - guided by the US Well Being Industry - with patience, study, practice and time we can change our step.
    Om Namah Shivai 🙏🏽
