It seems like Weight is a trade-off, and there isn't a single go-to "this weight is the best, because it excels in the areas that you need to be good at to win races", making Weight more of a preference than a requirement. I like heavier characters that don't get budged when they're bumped and can take some punishment and hit high top speeds, so if I can get good at that, I think I'll be in the clear. 10:15 Oh, this is one of those songs I've heard in a TH-cam video _ages_ ago, like early to mid 2000s, and I never knew where it was from. It's so satisfying to finally hear that beat in context and know what it is.
Canonically, while Twin Noritta is considered the lightest (at 780 kg) and Black Bull as the heaviest (2340 kg), there are heavier machines out there, like GX's Fat Shark (2490 kg) and the very heavy (and most likely heaviest of all recorded machines, period) Luna Bomber, from the BS F-Zero games (3800 kg) (too bad it wasn't released outside of Japan though... I'm not including the custom machines, since they aren't considered main line stuff. But for the video itself, it's a nice way to introduce the difference between the machines' weight classes, while acknowledging their strengths and weaknesses.
This reminds me of POD, where weight was not listed as a stat anywhere but changed the car's grip, stability in collisions and behavior when jumping. This meant that heavier cars were strictly better to control since all other stats were customizable, making the ultra-heavy Shark the easiest to handle vehicle in the game.
I've been playing GP Legend, doing the bronze cup with every machine. So far the one I hate controlling the most is the Crazy Bear because it's a heavyweight AND has E-level grip. It feels like I'm desperately fighting for control around every single turn, even ones that aren't normally a problem.
