- Overall I felt it was a really good playthrough accentuated by two awful mistakes stemming from me losing concentration which ultimately cost me my 53:00 goal. This is the game version where the player moves faster (Japanese version and NTSC-U 1.0, I believe). In other game versions (PAL versions and NTSC-U 1.1), the character moves significantly slower, and as far as I know up until now the best run for this version was hosted on Speed Demos Archive done on the German PAL version, with a time of 1:02:36; earlier this week on the NTSC-U 1.1 (or whichever NTSC version is at parity with the PAL versions), I got a time of 1:00:16, just to be thorough.
00:02:45 - This whole mountain section to get to the ship is a bunch of RNG goodness because of the compys. Sometimes they can be really malicious or take awful pathing, but this time I got pretty lucky and wasn't really hindered by them at all. Got hit maybe twice or three times total, so overall and didn't get stuck much in the awful geometry, so overall pretty decent.
00:04:50 - Picking up the extra life so I can die in a building one additional time (explained later).
00:08:00 - Big mistake #1 of this run. I missed the first dilo, and should have noticed it in the score readout. Cost me anywhere from 12-20s
00:09:33 - Jumping through explosions like this does actually have purpose - normally the game treats explosions as physical objects for some reason - if you walk into them, you bump into them as if walking into a wall. Jumping in their direction lets you jump through them for some reason.
00:15:52 - Fun fact you can press select to instantly exit out of a console instead of having to drag the hand to the exit button
00:18:40 - Ahhhh this room was handled really awkwardly
00:24:38 - AHHHHHH
00:25:17 - My first building death. This is one of the weaker buildings to do it in, and the one I picked up the bonus life for, but basically you intentionally die inside a building when your objectives in that building are done, and save time as you respawn outside of the entrance to the building.
00:26:45 - Building death #2
00:29:45 - Building death #3 - a bit awkward, I should have soaked up more damage prior to the dark room
00:34:00 - Building death #4
00:40:00 - This whole floor is awful, especially the two 'main' rooms. They crammed so many objects the game crawls to like 8fps making controls awful. I hate this floor.
00:41:40 - Accidentally got off the wrong floor, big mistake #2. Cost about 10-15s.
00:42:03 - I almost died (in real life) when I killed this dilo (last of the floor and ship) and didn't get the message saying I had killed them all. Luckily I guess correctly where the remaining one was, if I was wrong that would have been a run-killer (probably should have been regardless). Overall those two big mistakes probably cost me at least half a minute.
00:43:20 - Almost had a heart attack here, thinking I accidentally killed myself jumping into the water and mistiming my jump lol.
00:45:30 - Building death #5. I enter the north-west entrance as it's the closest to the egg clutch, and that it seems faster to walk from entrance 1 to entrance 2 (where there are eggs nearby in the overworld) while outside than inside the building, as navigating this place is awful and tedious.
00:53:05 - Most other runs get this egg first, but benchmarking looks like it's the tiniest bit faster getting it last. - เกม

I remember me and my dad playing this game and I was 5. We would spend hours playing it, we got so into it my dad made maps for each building on index cards.
I remember causing a rift in the family at age 10 by jumping on the TV when it was free (OK maybe between ads) to play Alien 3 on my SNES!!
Your dad sounds awesome BTW. Mine's alright too, just doesn't get into gaming (though my parents got me into it by buying my sisters and I a NES!)

I remember me playing this game when I was very young. All I did was running around until I would die though, I never knew what the purpose was of the game and I was too scared to enter those buildings xD

I had the game and this is what my brothers and I would do, run around until you die, or enter buildings and die. I have never known anyone to have actually made any progress playing the damn game. At least it had cool music and atmosphere.
I never finished this game as a kid. It frustrated me and i did not play it anymore. i still have it. Thanks for finishing it.

I got it on an emulator to finish it. It's ridiculous to be forced to finish such a long game in one go. This speed run is a hour long! How long is it at a normal pace? 4 or 5 hours? Ridiculous. But one of the best soundtracks I've heard on the SNES. Especially considering it's a movie licensed game.
The ending should have said congratulations u just wasted an hour picking up eggs

The amount of times I played this as a kid, I never knew what I had to do, I always felt so happy when ever I was able to do anything.
I used to play this on Super Nintendo. I always thought the goal was to get to the end to fight a T-Rex, now I see it was all about collecting eggs. Very good video. But now that I know the sole purpose was to collect eggs, Fuck this game

Not having a plan of parks, especially the underground labyrinths, I do not think anyone else could walk through the weight of the way through, which requires a few kneading, maybe a year. I passed! Due to the fact that I am an artist, I drew a plan of the parks, and the most difficult of all labyrinths plan on all floors in buildings. I was posledoatelnost search secret maps ... otherwise never get here before final.A now having all this game could be overcome about ZA4 hours 30 minutes. The dramatic songs of the composer, Jonathan Dunne made this game immortal !!! A huge thanks to the creators of this game masterpiece!

I wasted hours playing this game and never beat it I did have part 2 I did better with that one

Man... I remember when I finally grabbed that last egg, I was so excited to see what would happen next, after reaching the helipad. I was bracing myself for something reaaaaally cool.

Dude, I kid you not, I actually blushed out of embarrassment/self pity, when I realized that the ending to this game, is the frikken intro!!!! They didn't even bother removing the big JP logo on the island! WTH! They might as well have left the copyright info on the bottom part of the screen too! This was a legit "easter egg" hunt, that basically said "Ok you're done, bye. Cya. Leave. Nothing more to see here.", once you've reached the end. What a jip. No save feature. No reward for spending hours looking for dino eggs. No epic T-Rex battle...
...Good music though. Also the mode 7 levels were pretty neat and creepy for it's time. That ending though.... fuck.

GREAT SOUNDTRACK!!!
This was one of my first SNES games when I was about 9 years old. I always got stumped at the point to stop the raptors from getting into the visitors center because I didn't know you could move the crate back then. about 6 years ago I got the urge to play it again for grins and I looked up a walkthrough online and beat it 17 years or so later.
game endings like that should be a crime, or a revocation of your game dev privaleges

The ending is actually the worst part of the game. One of the worst endings in gaming history. Game play is excellent. Music is excellent. Graphics are excellent. Animation is excellent. Ending is terrible. This one is definitely about the journey.
This brings back memories, thanks for the upload. I never beat this game when I was a kid, but I still have the game and my SNES. Maybe I'll go back and beat it sometime.

I never beat this game as a kid, mainly because I could never understand the objective lol I always thought that you had beat the t-rex somehow so I spent hours trying to kill it and it would frustrate me
xeztan Really? I figured it was the eggs and the computer stuff but that didn't make the game easier. Especially not when you entered the raptor's nest. That part was creepy. As for the T-Rex, once I figured out how that mechanic worked and that Tranq. Darts were the weapon of choice, it was a bit disappointing.
But the overall game is just so much fun and creepy and all that good sort of stuff to play.

OMG Same here!!! I would pick up all of those spike looking things that you can shoot since apparently it hits the t rex, well makes him go back a bit, and I would just collect all the ones I could find and then go shoot them at the t rex but nothing ever happened xD
Part of the game that makes it hard to beat is its scary, going thru the raptor facility to turn on the sites power, getting in dark rooms with night vision and hearing this scary horror music atmosphere in it. I was 10 when I played this game. Me and my brother beat it but never went back again.

I was drinking water when I started this video. Then I saw the picture in the bottom right. My water is now all over my keyboard and monitor.
Man, I loved this game> My nephew stole it and traded it in for something that he wanted. Watching this makes me want to go out and by another SNES. Thanks for allowing me to share in your game play.

My family rented this game several times. We never completed it before we had to return it because of the lack of save files. We eventually rented it for 3 days straight without turning the game off and finally beat it.... and then we got that ending. Probably the first time I felt disappointed by a games ending.

I play my favorite film on my favorite console, it was very emotional to have discovered it with my best friend. I never managed to finish it, I miss an egg and a card every time I try. I love the game's music. Incredibly nowadays, the 3D mode scared me so much that I didn't dare play.

My older brother owned this game and completed it once. When I was sick off school, or it was school holidays I would occasionally play this game. I'd play for SO LONG knowing I couldn't save and tried to finish but in the end just be completely lost and not know where to go and have to end it for dinner... but I had fun :P I never completed this game.....

Great play through. I've actually never finished the game but I played the hell out of it when I was little. I still have the game too for the SNES. I go back and play it for a bit every now and then to relive the old days. I love the music in this game. Epic! Also, I know you can actually beat the game and avoid the T-Rex all together, but I always go that way anyway just to get a look at him. Have you Played the second game? The side scrolling shooter?
I remember making an entire map for this game by hand because no save feature... fun times though. Hope I still have the game.
damn, i used to go to my best friend's house back in the day, who had a SNES along with this game and a few others, we used to play this so much all evening and we never actually made it that far, we grew up, took our ways, and to think like 15 years later im here whatching finally how it ends ... wow...and those confusing buildings BOY, WHERE THOSE YOUR WORSE NIGHTMARE IN THE ENTIRE GAME!
Haha, going inside the buildings always creeped me out. I did enjoy playing this game, but I never beat it. I only saw the T-Rex a few times, too. Lol
I love how the dinos just dissolve when you shoot them ha. I played this with a friend and we managed to beat it but it took forever. You could not save the game so I just left the SNES on.
i had a love-hate-relationship with this game as a kid. never came very far but still tried to beat it as often as i could.

for me I never knew how to beat this game I just thought it was all about collecting the eggs and then getting off the island I never understood the ID cards or where to find them or that I had to do all that other stuff so it just goes to show there was a lot more to this game then I originally thought as a kid
The interior sections of this game gave me nightmares as a kid.
i hated it when in the buildings it would go to nightvision....scary as hell when your a little kid. also was there ever a uae for those computers inside the buildings
i hated those first person scences as kid, too. Today, 20 years later, i still dont like them and they make me shiver, lol. Bad memories ;)

i made it about 10 feet in and died about 30 times so I gave up... Im going back to try again though because now I know that there is explosive ammo at the very beginning that can get me past the first tough spot.

I'm shocked they make you go to the ship three times. There really should be a short cut you can open up after the first time.
When this game 1st came out, me and my brother would attempt to beat this game and leave the SNES on for 48+ hour plays because we couldn't figure out exactly where to go to actually beat the game. Now I learn it can be done in under an hour.... I spend longer then a hour exploring some buildings.
Glad I didn't beat it however, because that ending was weak. Super Star Wars was MUCH more fun.
The only reason I could not beat this game is because I did not know you had to press the R button as you jump across the river. One of the best games of all time. Sega genesis version is also good yet unique in its own way.

Classic game
I would spend hours and hours on this fucking game. I never knew what to do after I collected everything that I needed. Now I know that it was the box in the Raptor Pen that needed to be pushed. Must try this game again...I love it!!!

Why is this game bigger than any RPG game to date?
Don't know how I managed to beat this game as a 6 year old. Remember having to stay well away from corners on the ship as you could get stuck in the wall, meaning a reset.

First famous FPS (gun shoot) is the legendary Wolfenstein 3D by ID Software in 1992.
Followed by the amazing DOOM in 1993 (as JPark on SNES same year).
Real FIRST ONE "first person" is Maze War in 1974 on Xerox Alto.

I spent countless hours playing this game on SNES. My biggest complaint is there was no ability to save. If you shut the system off you gotta start all over again. What a crappy ending to a good game though.
I loved killing all of the Galimimus that ran back and forth
so the goal was eggs? i remember as a kid just leaving the damn eggs because it wasnt a weapon or health and i would try and kill the t-rex and die every time. i never would have beaten it because that is a shitty objective for a game like this. god i remember how claustrophobic those interiors felt too, i always got lost and just kept wandering around blindly trying to figure out what the hell i was supposed to do.
