I have recently bought this phone in the UK and am actually very very pleased with it. I don't get why so many of the comments are slagging off '720p resolution - not in 2023' and all that. It's a phone for goodness sake, not a cinema screen!! My phone is fast, easy to use and secure - all I need. Oh, and the cameras are pretty damn good too. I don;t what people are running on their smart phones, but for the price, this Moto G53 5G is superb.
Yesterday I lost this phone, bought it just a month ago. When i realized that phone was missing, i started digging😂 through the snow around the car, then i moved the car and accidentally ran over the phone. Nothing happened to it, 24 hours in the snow and the car passed over it. Good job Motorola!!!
Motorola isn't doing itself and customers any favours. None of these phones are clean upgrades. The G52 is a lower number, but it has OLED and a higher clock speed and ram. G72 is a higher number, but it is older, does have OLED. The G73 looks like the newer model with better specs and 5 G, but then again, it has an LCD screen. Instead, the G53 looks comparable to the G13 and G23, which is another number entirely. So, it is pretty unclear what you are getting for the extra price without an entire spec card. Of course you still get a decent phone with a big battery, which is fine for the average user. It's too bad the software support doesn't look the most convincing right now.

Dimensity 9000 is a flagship grade chip (equal to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1) whereas A54's Exynos 1380 is a lousy lower mid-range to upper budget range chip and should be avoided at any price.
@@IamJay02 , in its debut period Samsung Galaxy A52s was sold from 550 Leva or 275 Euros by the major retailers in Bulgaria (where GSMArena is located). It had the same low price several times again, such like on Black friday and the holidays. I got mine on a promotion for just 440 Leva or 220 Euros back in March 2022. Phones here get much cheaper during the summer, because the majority of people usually spend their savings on visiting the sea resorts, hence buying electronics is not of their priority.
thinking of getting this with my 7 euro/month 1 year mobile plan, they offer this phone for 60 euro's, a pretty big discount for a contract that cheap.
LCD screen is already a deal breaker for many (not necessary for me). But a 720p LCD screen in 2023 is for sure a deal breaker! Lenovo who owns Motorola is to blame, they are greedy and destroying Motorola G series models because they will only get 1 OS upgrade and 2 years of security updates, compare that to Samsung who just released Galaxy A34 5g which will get 4 OS upgrades and 5 years of security updates! I really liked Motorola only 2 years ago but now Lenovo is destroying the brand (I had Motorola G8 Power and my wife had Motorola One Macro - we both loved our phones. Now we don't use Motorolas anymore😢).
Well in the UK, you get this phone for £189.99, or get the Moto G62 which is the same phone, but with a 1080p display for £199.99 but it won't get the Android 14 update. The ONLY reason you would get the Moto G53 is for the more up-to-date software support, and 128GB storage as standard, that's it.
no, that is not a reason too, lol. My current phone is in android 12, and I have no problem with it. The long term software update is good, but it's definitely not a reason to buy a phone (and to be clear, Motorola isn't famous for long-term support too. So it's pointless to buy this phone for just 1 extra year of support). There is nothing in this phone that can justify that screen downgrade
i have Moto G8 Plus since 2020 , moto phones are good but i only recieve 1 major android update since phone launched ! From 9.0 Pie to 10.0 Q , most motorola phones are the same !
For me it is a durable phone with all the most recent software features, but I still wouldn't recommend it **if** you can afford better. Having only 4 GB RAM makes it feel sluggish, and most actions take a decent amount of time (opening apps / turning on the phone ). This also means that I cannot play some games (ex: genshin impact) that I was able to play on my 5 years old huawei... The photos are ok, but still not the best and I prefer using my tablet or asking someone else to use their device. Overall after switching the phone cuz the old one's screen broke it just became a habit to only use it as a hotspot and take out my iPad instead whenever I want to do *anything*. social media, playing videogames, taking photos, sending messages... every time I just think "oh but it would be faster if I turned on my hotspot and used my iPad instead". My old huawei was stuck at android 10, but even considering all the software upgrades, it didn't feel better because the hardware couldn't keep up.
What is the point of 5G connection on a phone? To open a bank app or Instagram app faster? I don't see any point rather than faster battery drain. I don't use 5G on my phone I chose 4G and I don't see any difference end of the day it's just a mobile phone that doesn't pay my mortgage or doesn't buy me a meal. 120 hz, P oled act, 200mpxl camera what are they all for? Anyone shooting Hollywood grade movies on the phone? I don't understand how people pay $$$$ digits to a phone! This phone in the video is good enough to serve and very reasonably priced. (Edit: For starters, if you want the best specs for the money, but if you are fine with another brand, ofc get another brand, just to be clear) I got it recently and they are very comparable phones. They all have LCD, (g53 is advertized with highest herz) headphone jack, a big battery and android 13 and can be used for some casual gaming. They may or may not have FM radio. Mine came packed with a charger. The g53 has a snapdragon with 5G, but it has 2 back cams, wide and macro. Charging isn't the fastest. The g13 is the cheapest (at fulle price, the g53 is on sale) and it comes with an extra depth cam, the g23 is a bit more expensive, and comes with an extra ultra wide cam instead. The g23 may also have more ram, depending on the version. (This was a bit unclear to me) The g13/23 have a mediatek chip instead with 4G. So if you are picking between the 3, it mostly comes down to the chip (+ 5g) you prefer, the extra ram on the g23 if that is accurate, and the extra (forgettable) camera you may get. 5G is not widespread and dominant, the camera is not good enough to do anything fancy with, and I doubt you will play heavy games on this, so 8GB ram is overkill, unless you want to switch between apps like a maniac. So I wonder if you will notice the difference between these 3, unless you want one of the things I highlighted in particular. So if you want 5g get the g53, if you don't mind and absolutely want more ram, get the g23, provided it comes with the extra ram. Otherwise, just get the one that is cheapest.
phones should only have LCD's for protecting the eyes as OLED phones seems to cause all sorts of Eye/Brain isssues due to PWM/faceid/dithering & what not.. I dono but i never had any issues with LCD phones,, I tried too many OLED/AMOLED from flagship brands... all of em give me worst eye strain & head ache etc.,.... I would say motorola did the right thing with this phone.. I am going to get one.. but seems like not available in my country.
I experienced the same thing with Samsung's s4, specially when I used it at night. But the contents with deep black or red colours looks seriously delicious on OLED display.
The display isn't good with low dpi. 120Hz does not improve the quality. The Samsung PLS 60Hz 1080p is way better. G53 has a good chipset, if 5G and games is all you focus on. But games does not give you a good experience with a bad display like this.

I have Motorola Moto G50 5G and it is awesome smartphone. I love the features of moto G50 5G.

I would rather have a 90Hz 1080p screen than a 120Hz 720p screen. HD resolution isn't enough for 2023 at all! Kinda disappointed with Motorola.

I loved my Moto G7 Power but I've since jumped ship to Samsung because nothing Motorola's done since was worth the upgrade.

Same, i ordered and refunded : Pixel 7a, S21 FE5G, and Poco F5 and then i found out that PWM was/is the issue. Headache, eyestrain for days, nausea
