House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 4 Review Here: th-cam.com/video/TP7TORyAUQs/w-d-xo.html
My favourite little moment in the episode was Aegon and Sunfyre in the Dragonpit where it nudges him like any pet would and Aegon actually looks genuinely happy for a change.
It was such a blink and you miss it scene, and I wish there was more of it, but I’m grateful it was there nonetheless and Sunfyre looked as majestic as he could with the short screentime he was allowed. 😅
Reminded me and my dog 🐕
Sunfyre was okay but was not the most beautiful dragon in the Westeros. Producers seems do not care about it at all
@@demirkazanasmaz6097 producers dont care abt green dragons except vhagar, sunfyre was hailed as the most beautiful dragon in the book and even by Martin himself. but no screentime in s1,they cut everything and even now not doing him justice.
@@jaxjaeger5487 exactly what a shame
Both dragons in pit scenes were heartwarming
I’m full. I don’t wish to consume any more dragon battles. I forgot how nauseous it makes me seeing these massive CGI puppies die :(
Dragons are definitely CGI cats… not dogs :3

Same.
Bloody Vhagar, rolling a 20 on that stealth check.
Vhagar in the cut what a scary sight.
At the point, vhagar has a signature move
Idk if my heart can handle all these dragons dying
Yeah… it’s rough. Definitely the worst part about the dance is the death of so many dragons
Same
I’m happy that Jace is starting to really stake out his future and shape how he wants to be as a ruler and I also enjoyed seeing the dynamic he and Baela kind of established while Rhaenyra abandoned the council for her side quest
Jace is the best diplomat/politician in the entire war, in the book he is younger so is more impressive.
I agree that Dany was special, but I also remember Viserys, standing in front of the skull of his dragon Balerion, casually running his fingers along the flames of the candles. They may not all be fireproof, but maybe they’re fire-resistant?
Yes, it’s ASOIAF canon they’re more resistant to fire than most people but not to THAT extent. Egg, for instance, doesn’t feel the heat of the sun on days when Dunk is boiling in it, for example. But wildfire also killed Aerion, it’s a light protection and not natural plate armour.
@@Longshanks1690 Who is this person who speaks to me as though I needed his advice? 😉 Yes, exactly. Potholders, not asbestos.
Humans can do that
I loved tonight’s episode. I know book fans are mad how Rooks Rest played out but as a book reader myself, I found it ok. Fire and Blood are just recollections of people in the battle. We never knew if Aegon and Aemond actually planned that attack out or was just a miscalculation like what happened in the show. It’s ambiguous. Also, HoTD already affirmed that it’s not a one-to-one with the books, their ages and the plot evident of that. I still believe people can still choose sides equally as I think people preferred Aemond much more to Aegon even before this episode.
Why does it matter if the book is a recollection or not? People can still prefer it and think the show's version was worse
@@secondeye1574Yeah and people can also think the book version was worse which it definitely was btw
@@flowerpower0323 No shit, but the comment I'm replying to isn't arguing on why the show is better. It's making a strawman of people who think the book is better. I'm saying that strawman is silly.
Book spoilers.
You have to remember this is all being written well after the fact, based on histories and accounts of those who were not actually there.
The only people who knew the plan was for Aemond, and Aemond alone to ambush Rhaenys were Criston Cole, Aemond, and Aegon. Criston and Aemond are both killed during the war, so their story is never passed on. Aegon survives the main part of the conflict, though not for long, but he is highly unlikely to tell anyone that he wasn't really meant to be at Rooks Rest and was only there because he threw a hissy fit.
All the survivors of the battle knew was that Maelys arrived, then Cole gave a signal, and Aegon and Aemond turned up. Since the story is being written far later, based on historical accounts, that is likely to be what is know of the battle, and thus, it certainly appears the plan was for both to ambush Rhaenys and so that is what the histories say, even though it wasn't the case.
@@joematthews4952 People really need to stop trying to fit the show into the book. It's its own thing. I get the historical inaccuracy thing, and that works sometimes, but that doesn't mean the show is the "true' telling of the books. That just doesn't make sense given things like the characters' ages, like their location inconsistency... etc
i love how rhaenys was the only one who didnt use dracarys in the dragon fight. she had enough experience with her dragon to do enough damage without needing fire, and fire wouldnt have saved her from aemond either.

yeah but it definitely adds more drama into the story
And it makes perfect sense given the bullying Aegon did last episode 😂🤷🏾♂️
I thought this episode was good, but I do feel like it’s abit predictable and it seems that they’re more focused on the action than the story.
Rheanys and melys fought well. But for me, they robbed melys of her reputation as one if not the fastest/swiftest dragons.
Since they’ve mentioned it before might aswell give the people the satisfaction that even though she lost she was still able to live up to her title and save her reputation as the red queen fastest dragon in westeros. Aside from that I say Dracarys! Dracarys them all 😂
I liked how aemond burnt aegon 😂😂😂😂
I wonder how they will go about Daemon assembling troops since in the trailer he orders Lords to bend the knee to HIM and not Rhaenyra… 🤔🤔
I am 100% ready for "all in" Aemond. I did not catch him putting his ball in the ball thing at the small council.
An underappreciated moment in this episode is when Steffon Darklyn reacts to the news that his father was beheaded by Cole.
It a good reminder that the the minor characters in the story are deeply affected by the main plot, and not just the main characters. Hopefully they take the time to show his grief turn to desperation, since he later attempts to mount Seasmoke and is killed during the sowing of the Dragonseeds.
Definitely my favorite episode we’ve had in years, once it kicked off damn my heart was pumping
We're finally gonna see a clear version if adult Vermax!!
I liked the touch of Cole sending the recently conscripted Darklyn forces against the castle first. It felt very real world and ASOIAF for just a simple touch.
I thought I was the only one who noticed.
In the books we dont see Aegon again for a while which is a shame because i like his scenes the best.
I just don't buy that bullshit that Vhagar can fly in place behind the castle and not be heard and also move quick enough to catch Meleys .
"Battle hardened" Flys over a cliff. It was preatty stupid death. They could have made her loose to a bigger dragon. But they choose her death to be stupid.

Intrigues, deceits, denials and dragons - yes, this episode had it all.
I figured that the blade had cooled by the time Aemond arrived
Im glad your channels still around
Fuck that was a good episode.
Definitely one of the best episodes so far!
The “Red Dragon and the Gold” - well I wonder what this was all about? lol. Merlin’s tale of the Red British (Welsh) dragon and the Gold Saxon (English). All dark age British history when the Britons are fighting off the Anglo Saxons.
Looks like everyones upset about one or som or all changes from the book tbh. Maybe an ambiguous history book wasnt a great idea? If its not “official “ people seem to think they know better or george knew better.
No what im hearing from the non book fans is that the scene was extremely predictable. Like everyone knows SOMETHING has to happen and we really want daemon v aemond so no one truly believed the green king would die, THUS …. So and so u get it. I think were all too smart for hollywood now tbh like they can only make so many choices: copy or risk losing it all deviating . We are loving the show btw!
10/10 episode 4.
I thought when Aemond picked it up, he would have seen it.. but it wasn’t firey orange like when it’s lyte up
Yeah it wasn’t anywhere near the fire to be lit up.
One might question how it fell so far away from, and yet so conveniently close to, him but details details 😝
Lord Darklyn calling Criston Cole kind of just comes out of nowhere
Can't wait for your review and thoughts on this one!
Absolutely fantastic breakdown! And I will admit this episode has grown on me a bit but I'm still mildly frustrated that so much of this episode was just random other stuff and talking I didn't expect a full-blown hour-long battle but I wish we had seen more of the stuff on the ground and maybe the dragon sequence had been just a little longer
Thats what GOT should have ended like. DRAMA
I just didn't really understand Rhaenys flying basically straight into Vhegar's mouth. He's the size of a damn house... If you can't see him he is obviously the one spot that is out of view behind the castle that you're casually flying toward... I mean she had ample opportunity to retreat. Seems like she just threw away her life and her dragon to gain absolutely nothing. Idk I just feel like she deserved so much more. 😢 Like with all that battle experience, she should have known to kinda sneak around the castle or at least get high enough to scope out the place. Or better yet, just go home!! She needed backup to take down Vhegar.
Right. How do you hide the largest thing on earth? Sneak attacked Luke too, like cmon, sneaking with a 2000 tonne nuke can’t be the go-to-move
Vhagar is a she dragon
" Like with all that battle experience.." The show insists this, but also wants to tell me there have been 70+ years of peace. She would certainly be the most experienced rider.
She had no choice but to take out Vhagar if she could since Dragonstone was just a stone's throw away.
Well, felt like she was really sorry about not saying "Dracarys" in that scene that never happened in S1E9.
I think what Aamond was referring to was removing Aegon’s armour that fused to his skin!
unrelated to the video, but why when i click on your channel name below the video does it take me to your second channel with no content?
It's a weird glitch. Quite annoying
I think its cool how much they are focusing on the dragon skull at dragonstone
Rhaenys should have just turned and escaped after Vhagar showed up. It wasn’t a 2 on 1 ambush like in the book and she’d already crippled Sunfyre.
How did you do that so fast
Team Green! 👌
Fundamentally, having Aemond betray Aegon was predictable and in-line with the characters as the show has established them, but is ultimately boring and lazy writing. Hollywood seems to believe that "morally grey" means "make all the characters terrible," when the opposite is true. It's much more fun to root for people you like. If Aegon and Aemond had gotten along well enough, even if only through brotherly duty, and had planned the ambush at Rook's Rest together (like it was in Fire & Blood), it would have been much more compelling drama. Aemond would be saddened by his brother's injury, but also glad that he can finally take the power that he feels he deserves. It also allows the characters to remain more likeable, because they genuinely loved each other and worked together. Overall, the show has painted the Greens as too villainous. Aegon being a kind-hearted, hedonistic goof who just wants to protect his family would make the story much more tragic.
Yeah man
The argument "show has painted greens too villainous" Always goes over my head. I don't understand one who reads the book can ever be on side of greens. They're just too fking evil. Except maybe for aegon who is one of my fav character in this whole story. And halena doesn't deserve all this also.
Ummm yeah it's based on books, not just Hollywood following trends
To quote the great Lady Olenna, "Oh do shut up dear!"
You're basing the book as pure gospel, but it has always been known that the winners of the battles is what writes history and whether that's fact or fiction remains to be seen.
My point is to stop looking at the books as pure, and you might start to like the show more
Rhaenys sacrificed her dragon and herself when she could have escaped easily. She had already won by damaging Aegon's dragon and slightly damaging Vhagar's belly. She went back and lost herself and dragon. Terrible.
I can now watch the show without my mother complaining about the show not having dragons yet named House of the Dragons. I don't feel like arguing with her.
That was a badass episode but i was hoping to see more infantry combat between the greens and blacks Bannerman after the dragon battles without further dragon interventions
I wonder what Otto is up to
Responding to comment made by Preston: In his livestream, Preston said Aemond choosing to burn Aegon is a departure from the book. I disagree. The book is written by one maester characterizing and selectively editing the testimony of other maesters. While I can accept that the show and the book realities are independent, it's a reasonable interpretation to say history is written by the winners, and to the extent Aemond "won" the confrontation between him and Aegon, he gets to write the history as he saw fit -- spread propaganda that he and Aegon fought together and the Aegon's burning was a tragic accident, and that he was always loyal. That interpretation might or might not be headcannon, but that's the sort of challenge presented by "Fire & Blood" - its ambiguity - which many claim to be its greatest selling point.
That's just it though. The show has gone to great lengths to take away many of the Green's better moments, amplify their worst, and sometimes outright ignore those of the Black's (chiefly Rhaenyra), they do demonize Daemon a bit more.
🎉I think Dany is special because she is also a Dayne. I think queen Rhaella had Dany as a love child with Ser Arthur Dayne. Her name, Daenerys, is the same letters as in "Ser Dayne" and her name sounds like Dayne Heiress. I think there was a baby swap of some kind.
The girl Val from the books is possibly important as well. Arianne martell remembers a green haired tyroshi girl at the water gardens as a child. Then Davos sees a green braided girl in White Harbour with the Manderlys. She seems to be some secret. There could have been twins of some kind too, a boy and a girl or even triplets cuz of fake Aegon.
I dont know for sure but i think Mance Rayder is actually Arthur Dayne, and Ned didnt defeat him, he sent him to the wall. I also think he calls himself king beyond the wall because he and Rhaella were married in secret before she passed away (or she is secretly still alive and posing as Dalla because Shireen sees Dalla by the well in dragonstone in the first 5 pages of a Clash of Kings. The well there must be a secret entrance!)
uh oh

This show is useless and I can’t believe the glazing from these guys in the comments

Honestly, way back in 2015 or whenever I read the world book, what I got from this battle has always been that Aemond rammed Sunfyre on purpose.
What are u talking about? Anyone with sense and have read the books..BOTH sides were not good! There was no real winner in this war, just tragedy on both sides caused by each other
I forgot how nice it was to enjoy a battle scene in this universe.
It’s been… so long since the last truly great one. 🥲🥲🥲
king Aemond of Rivia
Good episode. Dialogue held up very well. The battle wasn't epic enough, but the dragons delivered anyway as they tend to do.
who's the dragon at 0:42-43 of the trailer for HOTD season2 ep 5?
Caraxes, Daemon's dragon. Hes intimidating Bracken soldiers.
I get that this show is fantasy, but Vhagar should have died from that fall....it's a damn heavy dragoon, break her legs at least. Then she just sneaks in like it's a fighter jet. I expected at least some kind of realism from this fight. Rhaenys not going in for the kill while Vhaegar is down was another "fuck off" moment. If you want to go by the books and let Vhagar win, at least make it believable
In the books, all three dragons come crushing down and only Vhagar survives (unscathed, that is).
have you seen a giraffe or an elephant fall down? they have stronger bones to resist the fall m8. but lets say their moddled after birds, then the dragon has hallow bones and a very light structure which again means it would survive that fall. some eagles hunt smaller birds this way, by an RKO from the sky
I was incredibly confused about what was happening in the dragon fight I had to rewind it 3 times. It could've been edited better.
1000% team Aemond
I have enjoyed this entire season.
Im watching the show with anticipation that the book Fire and Blood was written after the wars, and the book is loosely written with all truth. Yes, it does detail history, but as to be completely fact based, it was never the intention of Fire and Blood. Remember, the winners are the ones who write history, and sometimes history becomes convoluted between fact and fiction because of this. It's also what makes this story so amazing.
The only thing I wish that could have stayed the same was Maegor watching his brother die, knowing that his mother chose him to die in his place. Other than that, I have been extremely pleased. Just wanted to see more battles and not the aftermath of them.
Book spoilers.
As you say, when it comes to the book, you have to remember this is all being written well after the fact, based on histories and accounts of those who were not actually there. Therefore, errors like this one make sense.

I kinda liked this showing of Vhagar. How she's not that cool, actually. If not for Aemond's ingenuity, all could have been lost.
Sunfyre looked weak thats the only nitpick for me with the episode. Sunfyre is a badass dragon in the books
Well, not King but regent right?
So Danny just killed her brother for a false belief 😂
u skipped the review of the shot of some new lord and a new dragon behind him. Could that be Vermithor?
That was a Bracken soldier and, quite clearly, Caraxes behind him. Didn't mention it cuz I thought it was obvious
Is it because of the fact that Aegon has mixed blood and not just only Targaryen blood that he's not able to withstand the fire? Just a doubt
Targaryen’s are not known to be fireproof, a lot of them have been hurt and killed by fire.
Also, why do they keep doing this? There's always a great scene ruined by one stupid thing. They didn't need to show her flying away, just have her continue the fight. This is the same thing with the dragon pit; why have her growl at them just to do nothing? Great scenes, ruined by incomprehensible small moments. If she was on a kamikaze mission, they should've made that clearer somehow earlier in the episode
How are corlyns sons gonna ride dragons, they have no dragon blood
The Velaryons have married the Targaryens for centuries, and the house was Valyrian to begin with. Therefore they have the blood.
So in the books their mother Marilda claimed that Laenor was the father of Alyn and Addam, which fixes the Targaryen blood issue. However, we know that's not true in the show, so I'm very curious how they'll explain this. Maybe Marilda will be shown to be a dragonseed.
They have Valyrian blood. All Valyrians were able to tame dragons, not just Targaryens. The Targaryens were the only dragon riders that survived the Doom, but typically anyone of valyrian descend can bond with a dragon.

For all the bells and whistles, the dragon fight was poorly executed. It makes no sense for an experienced rider to attack the biggest dragon head-on, only for that juggernaut to stealthily attack everyone else. The show lacks intelligent or wise characters, regardless of age. Even Otto, who placed Aegon on the throne, failed to manipulate him effectively. They can bring all the dragons in the world, inluding Smaug, Falkor and Toothless; sooner or later, audiences will grow tired of this idiocy.
There's no such thing as fire immunity. Only fire resistance, and the temperature can always go up.
The basic firefighter outfit might work in houses and small apartment buildings, but you'll need something a lot stronger if you're going into those massive forest fire in upper Canada.
God those dragons looked good. Just missed a great pair of bazongas in this episode
Ew.
Aemond is regent now, not king. Also there is nothing about Aegon's claim that implies Jaehera (spl) cannot succeed him. Aegon's claim is derived from male PREFERENCE primogeniture (and yeah that show only bs about Viserys rambling). It's the way all lordships in Westeros outside of Dorne work, daughters are ahead of uncles, but behind legitimate sons
The greens are male only primogeniture. After the dance Aegon III becomes king beceause he is Aegon II closed living male family member. From that point on all females are skipped. They did not want another dance.

What a boring show. 4 episodes already and it's just talk talk and useless diversity. Game of thrones has been ruined just like everything else.
women and black people in MY DRAGON SHOW! IMPOSSIBLE!
If you really think that way, you know nothing about George or his views. It was him who made the Velaryons black in the show to make it obvious that Rhaenyra's children weren't Laenor's. I'd stick to Harry Potter if I were you.
I disagree. I think the show is pretty good in general. Diversity is not really a problem in my opinion, but it definitely had some really bad changes from the original source material.
